OEX BUSH PRO TARP AND BIVVY WILD CAMP | RIVER STOUR | SUFFOLK | AMAZING SUNRISE

- After originally planning to wild camp at Shotley Gate, further down the River Stour estuary in Suffolk, we ditched the plan due to lack of suitable places out of view to camp. I then remembered a really lovely river beach and peninsula that jutted out into the river near Lower Holbrook from when I did the Stour and Orwell long distance walk some years ago. We decided to head over to there and walk upstream to find this spot, despite the fact we were losing light and didn't entirely know how far away it was! The walk to find it turned into a bit of an adventure but we eventually made it at around 7 pm and set up camp on the beach. I had my brand new OEX BUSH PRO TARP AND BIVVY BAG and was eager to test them out . . .

Lovely spot there . Nice camp . Good to have a plan b . Take care Tom 👍
Decent spot that one. Worth remembering if you plan to do the stour and Orwell walk. It'd be the final night as cattawade isn't far away.
Nice one thanks a lot for the heads up. Take care 👌
Amazing how things change - when I was a kid a 'bivvy' was a shelter made from sticks and branches of leaves leant up against each other that we used to make over the park! Another easy to watch video - nice and relaxing ...... ATB
Nice to meet you, buddy.
Thank you for sharing a good video. 👍🏼
I wish you a healthy and blessed year in 2020.
sand fleas are a pain

glad you like it pal, loadsa people hate it because its foreign music apparently. obv some closet racists are among us. cheers.
High Tom, nice camp-side and looks usable for fishing. Kindly Fiete
very nice :)
Hey Tom. I've camped here a couple of times last year. It's my favourite spot too. I live in Manningtree just over the river so easy and convienient to get to. Love the video.
thats mental! small world mate. next time i plan on camping in that area we could do a meet up if you fancy it. wont be back up that way for a few months though.
@@TOM_OUTDOORS Totally! Great idea. Any excuse for a wild camp is a great idea. I camped up on the bank in the trees. Perfect spot. Like you said in your video, there is something so special about that spot. 😊
Dam this makes our video look amateurish lol nice one dude, special place to camp too. Cheers for the shout out, Atb James
nah never mate, it did take me a lot longer to edit and finish off. had lots of time to play around with it. not a competition anyways. art is a reflection of how one perceives something, your video is how you perceived the camp. that's what i kept telling myself when i was doing camps with Kent Andy anyway! lol. cheers and no problem mate. see you at the weekend!
@@TOM_OUTDOORS I can't get over the instant desire to get done editing and uploaded. It's weird, at the time I'm happy with it, and then within a day or two I feel like I could do better.
I can vouch for how comfy it is under marks tarp, he’s a life saver in an emergency lol 😂
from May onwards mate i'll be doing more of the kent coastline, from rochester onwards, be great if you could join us on a section. any of the sections will take about 3 to 4 days tops so if you can get time off let me know.
TOM OUTDOORS Hi Tom, I have a week off in may already & I’ve still got days to take so I’m sure I can get get the time needed. Just let me know the exact dates when your doing them 👍
i'll text you pal. cheers.
I was also looking for possible camps at Shotley and walked round from Pin Mill thinking that Cranes Hill was a possible. When I got to this part I thought it was perfect. I did note the deep rills which cut across the path near here would be a leg breaker in the dark though!
Are you planning on doing the Ridgeway?
yes maybe next year or year after.
Really loved this video . Looking to buy a new tarp and this looks perfect, does it have attachment points on the inside as well as the outside mate?. Also , did you find any condensation build up in the bivvy? Thank you 😊
No it only has attachments on one side mate but lots of them. Can I be honest? I wouldn't personally recommend this tarp. Only because its quite bulky and heavy and its actually slightly smaller than a 3x3, it's something like 2.9 x 2.8m meaning that you can't do a lot of the main configurations. As much as it pains me to follow everyone else, a DD 3x3 or DD Superlight 3x3 would be better imo. No condensation in the bivvy but then again I didn't have it done up tight with my head right inside it. You do that and you'll get condensation in any bivvy. Hope this helps. Cheers for watching mate.
@@TOM_OUTDOORS Ahh that's a shame about the weight . The size was ideal and with all them attachment points , was hoping i could use it in very high winds in the tent configuration. Will keep a look out for another one. Thanks for the quick reply bud
awesome spot.. can understand why the druids hung out there. a 7th century V trap.. a slip shirley ;)?
how bad were the sand fleas? the alan bit at the end.. proper LOLs!
