I love seeing how no-gi is growing in popularity. The GI absolutely has its place and adds a whole different aspect, but as a wrestler, coach, mma fan, and law enforcement I find that no-gi to be much more applicable to a much broader audience. At 43, this guy rolling a 59 is an absolute machine. He’s living proof that if you use it, it’s much easier to keep it. To the young guys out there, don’t let yourself grow sedentary. It’s much easier to keep it than get it back. Follow this gentleman’s lead.

Sir, you're my inspiration to continue my journey in BJJ. I'm a 40 years old guy, next year I will be 41. Last time I almost quit BJJ for good and lack all motivations to continue training and start questioning something like " you're getting old Shahril, just forget it. Your younger self has gone. You're not going to be fast, agile, like when you're in your 20's. I cried down in tears thinking I will never go back to the past and regretting all the time of why I didn't start the BJJ training earlier when I was early 30 years old. Now after seeing your video I believe there's hope for me to achieve something even in my 40's. I may not be as fast as those 20 years old guys in my gym. But at least I'm doing my best to train, improving myself and today for the first time, I found your video and it did motivates me to not give up and continue. Thank you for the video. For myself I am too scared and while I love bjj , I only love it as long it s good thing for my health , this is why I only train 1 or 2 times a week for 10 years now with out any injuried I am still young but around me everyone have back/knee /shoulder /finger problems because of bjj.
I know at some point even with a low training frequence my body will not be able to maintain with out injuries ( I always roll super hard and I only roll at 100% since it s my only training session of the week ) . probably at 40 I will think leaving bjj for a softer sport .
