Giant Hammerhead Shark and Goliath Grouper Action!
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 7 фев 2019
- While Fishing with Ryan we were visited by a curious Hammerhead Shark which hung around the boat for quite sometime. We were even able to tease it to the boat with a large Savage Gear Panic Popper but we really wanted no part of this large animal on our light tackle. Next we get into some Heavy Goliath Grouper action and even a Nurse Shark takes the bait. Its almost become a rule that if you come on the boat with me you're required to catch a Goliath Grouper!
Just another great day on the water...

There's really no reason to harass these awesome fish. It's a tremendous amount of stress on them and the hooks don't "Rust" out as quickly as you think. A circle hook in the guts equals a slow painful death for this beautiful fish. Catch the fish you're going to eat and leave the big breeders alone.
Thank you so much for your insightful and highly knowledgeable comment.
I hope the creator’s response isn’t sarcastic . . .
Shut up snowflake. They've been protected forever and they are everywhere now. Superabundant in absolutely no danger of disappearing. And by the way, you're in the food chain to. No one gets out alive. Go ask the cows that you eat or the chickens you eat or the small mammals who live in the grain Fields whether or not they feel harassed. Give me a break.
Absolutley...correct and theres nothing "Cool" about this type of FISHMONGERING
maybe they want to eat it? we fish some small carps somtimes to eat. I catch few in a season.
Goliath groupers are protected. They had to let them go. You can’t have anywhere cook them either. HUGE fine for having them on board
Thanks for the info I would have never thought 🥴
They taste great in ceviche. I could eat them every day. I had them a decade ago at mexico resort. Never knew what the fish looked like back then but ever since I've been fascinated with them. Hopefully they rebound so they can start coming onto menus in the USA again.
They were a very popular choice among fishermen in the 90s until they over fished them.
That's what I thought - Goliaths are protected, but not all groupers.
News to me, I'll remember that, but we been eating them since I was a kid.
Well this is something good to watch 3 a.m. in the morning
❤️
Hey I'm here at 2:59!!!
Im hear at 1:13 am
1:46am lol
I saw a Grouper in Mexico snorkeling it was at least 4 times bigger than that. It literally looked like a giant Super Mario fish That’s when I got out of the water.
haha ....u jus drunk two much Tekillya, Senior!!
Indeed
Why you lie Matt?
It was "thiiiiiiis" big!
I saw one in the Dom Rep and although it was no way near 4 X bigger it was still huge (maybe the same size or a fraction bigger than the last one these guys caught) and how I didn’t leave a brown floater before scrambling back to the boat in a panic I will never know!! Formidable fish they are!
That grouper is like an ancient being from the sea
So am I!
@@CaptMattBudd If you're the simp steppin' into that pile of line connected to a 500 pound fish then you're NOT remotely from the sea. Idiot.

Could you please fit seven more commercials into your video?
That would be difficult!
Exactly why people use Adblock lol
i’m pissing myself at this comment
There aren't any commercials on the video. Take a couple minutes get ad blocker (it's free/google it). If that don't work then you probably have to clean the adware/malware off your computer.
They are called ads not commercials dumbass
That is awesome....I’ve never done any offshore fishing with a ROPE! I’ve done a lot but never like that. Learn something new every day. Preciate the video. 😎
*Appreciate
It’s crazy when you pull up that size fish and say “it’s just a baby” it adds a whole new perspective to it cause some people don’t understand how big those fish can really get
Some years ago, a diver in Tampa Bay was half swallowed by a huge grouper. He was spat out because 1. Too big and 2. The bubbles tickled him.
I'm glad the first guy let the group per go.
jedediahbc It is protected, so the have to let them go.
It's an endangered species and very protected. I would think that
There would be laws against fishing for them...
There has been a moratorium on them for so long that they’re now overpopulated in Florida and wiping out fish stocks.
@@Spiritualwarrior1965 they’re not endangered.
8:03 - loved that Grouper. It was huge!
💪
Catch and release, way to go guys. Respect to you.
So happy to see him released. Thank you.
Stressing out an ancient fish for your own pleasure and off course for the likes on your channel. Bravo 👏🏻
Would be afraid that rope would somehow wrap around my foot and drag me into the saltwater tomb. ☠️

That Hammer, so graceful.
I hooked into one and got it up to the boat when I was a younger man when I worked in assention islands I used a 12/0 penn it was 525lbs I'd rather change out a set of loader tires then have to do that again it's like trying to reel in a car that's driving away from you it's a real testosterone builder
At 12:20 he says " notice how I'm not wrapping my hands at all". At 12:24 he wraps the cord around his left hand...lol.
Ya saw that
Yeah, the other stupid habit’ these guys are doing, is dropping the slack line in front of themselves, many blokes have had a coil around there leg and been dragged overboard. Easy t do when excited with the catch.
Only place I've ever seen people fish like this was in Key West, Florida.... lol, those guys were some tough fishermen & their hands told the tale b/c
they had fishing line lacerated the palms of their hands so many times? I saw these guys back in the early 80's when I hitched down to the Key's
just to go fishing.... Umm, to go fishing for a year or so. That's how I rolled ; no car, no problem - I brought 2 rods & some tackle. The "people"
down there taught me the rest ! Love this video, TY for reminding me of the good ole' days. peace
after seeing the 2 Grouper I recall seeing a 370+lb Grouper that a Key West Restaurant had bought. They gutted the fish, packed it w/ ice,
and displayed the fish during the late afternoon. I supposed they were advertising the fresh fish special for that night but I'd never seen
such a large fish. I saw a lot more in my year of fishing down there. I love this guys, WoW !
Capt. Matt Budd,
I Like the video. 😁👍
I love fishing, really nice Monster catches you got there. 🎣
Protect all the Sharks.🦈✌
Thank you!
He looks like a huge Oscar 😂😂
In addition to "Don't wrap the line around your hand" you might want to add "Don't step in a pile of line." (See around the 16 minute mark) A fish that big could pull you over, especially if you lose your balance or trip, and if you're tangled in the line, he will pull you down.
AND THEN YOU ARE SHARK BAIT
He wins the 2019 extreme golden balls award ! That was badass.
Great vid!!!
After being caught and released by an angler, fish may die for a variety of reasons. The most common causes of death are the physiological stresses caused by the struggle during capture and injuries caused by the hook or the angler. Some fish may die even though they appear unharmed and despite efforts at revival.
43persen fish death after released
Great observation. I guess that's the chance we take as anglers.
Not true.
@toxzn or Fuck YOU
Sucks to be a fish I guess
@@CaptMattBudd I eat fish so my comment is "consonant" with fishing.
But when dealing with any life other than our own, a thinking person assumes a responsibility to treat that life with maximum intention and defensible logic, and with minimum chance, cavalier pain or shoulder-shrug. That's all.
Get r done!!!
Wow had lining for those fish is crazy - can you imagine if the rope caught around his feet or hands - you could get pulled in and easily down. Wild stuff !😅

Capt Matt i have the same shirt got it when i bought my fins. Awesome video!
Back in the late 60's & early 70's there were a lot of 400 - 700 lb. Jew Fish shot with spear guns.around the rigs off shore from National Seashore Park in Gulf of Mexico off of Corpus Christi , Texas. This was before it was outlawed!!! A friend of mine Jim Frith.held the Texas State record with a 492 lb. fish. We use to launch our boats in the surf & dive & fish around the rigs...
Good Ol'e days!!!!!
Sooo cool! I’m so glad I found your channel!! You’ve got some of the best content!
I noticed you didn’t show the part where you ripped the circle hook out of The grouper’s guts.I know you cut it out right, now you have one with A hook in it’s gut. Please stop harassing these fish just to make a video,it takes zero skill to catch one of these so your not doing anything spectacular .I’ve been a fisherman and have spearfished my whole life and I don’t take anything I don’t eat just to take a picture.Get some scuba equipment and take your pictures of them where they live. They often die from decompression being brought up from the bottom so fast.Anyway,I’m not trying to make you feel bad.I’m just giving you something to think about 👍
Great input. I actually was using a circle hook and it was stuck on the roof of its mouth. Didn't want to stress the fish out so I cut the line for it to rust out. 👍
My thoughts exactly. Be honest with your audience and show the unethical part where you had to let a massive 400 lb fish go with a giant hook in its throat... That fish died. That fish was probably as old as you...
I dont recreationally "catch and release" for this exact reason.
Those fish don't die from those hooks. The hooks rust out. The fish can still eat and go about their business. And the goliath grouper are actually over protected. In many places it is difficult to even get a target species like snapper and such up to the boat without being robbed by Goliath grouper.
But those are giant fishes thy can't even spare yu alive in the water wat's wrong with yu human?!
@@CaptMattBudd

Insane awesome video Capt!!
I can see a big shark coming in to feed on the grouper while it thrashing around next to the boat. Maybe munching on an arm or a hand to close to the water line as well.
As much as I love the ocean and I love to swim, I always remember that it's very dangerous. When ever I visit my country Haiti / Dominican Republic I see a lot of Hammer Head sharks when we go fishing.
The bmkst dangerous, shark in the world is the bull shark it ll attack anything that moves n hundreds of em in Aus, Waters,? They'll swim up fresh water rivers same as, the saltwater Crocodiles
@@jeremygreen2198 true. I'd rather be in the water with a great white than a bull shark. People who say you have a greater chance of being killed by a vending machine than a shark can go swim in shark infested waters while I hang out with the vending machines. Then let's see what happens.

So next time you hear about somebody getting attacked by a shark or something in the water think of this day when this kid was antagonizing the animals in the water
You're so right!
Yeah I'm sure they're gonna remember that and are slowly plotting their revenge.
Lol. Yeah as if 99.999% of fish aren’t “antagonized” and killed by other fish. Humans fishing for them are the least of their problems.

Takes me back to when I was a kid so many good memories hand fishing fishing for sharks in an inflatable boat with steel liters the biggest line we could get our hands on and BIG hooks. Putting out oil slicks with herring and obviously Herring on the hook too but best time to do that at night around 12 on a full moon and high tide all the irredescence from the fish and the rivers flowing into the Puget Sound was just flipping awesome you can see so much stuff underneath you and we must have been crazy as kids to do it in a rubber boat but some of the Sharks would come up and ram us on the bottom of the boat. Stupid stuff but wow so many good memories. And anybody that thinks there's not sharks in the Puget Sound they obviously never fished for them because they will come up to the estuaries into the farthest reaches of the Puget Sound at high tide I mean big ones 3-6ft ++ right in the farthest estuary away from the Open Water but High tied yeah sharks are everywhere in the Puget sound

My fishing equipment consists of a very small net stuck on the end of a thin bamboo cane. I once caught a stickleback and a waterboatman with the same sweep of the net, what a struggle nearly had my arms wrenched from there sockets when the stickleback kicked with his tail, but in the end I eventually got him into my jam jar must have been at least 3 inches long give or take a foot.
