I don't typically comment but if all of these "practice and repeat" guys on here reviewed all lights and broke them down like this everyone would be better DJ's! I don't even own this light! This is an insanely great and informative video! Thanks for helping the community!

Thank you for your suggestion, but I do not own the Eliminator fixture to do such an instructional video.

That is not at all a problem. This video was very very useful and informative. Using what I learnt here, I figured out how to do the same with the katana. thanks for such a nice video.

dumb question. i’m new to dmx lighting and this video was very intuitive. say i get the obey 3. since it doesn’t have a lcd reader. will the numbers change on the mini kinta display when used with the controller? Thank you.

There are no dumb questions, especially when it comes to DMX. While I have not thought to look at the readout of the Mini Kinta during its operation, I can only presume it will display what control function is being operated as instructed by a controller. The kinta needs to relay to a controller that it has received the information given it and that it has followed the command. I would be surprised if this feedback information was not displayed on the Kinta as a result.

T.O.M. This Old Man Cooks thanks. i got the obey 3 and have everything hooked up. i’m loving it! my only issue now is i’m not able to use the preset buttons on my obey 3. is there a certain channel i need to be on. i’ll be messing around till i get it working or read your response! thank you sir!

Congratulations on your purchase of the Obey 3. Because I don't own an O3, I am guessing the presets may only work with Chauvet products. I wouldn't think that to be the case because in my understanding, the presets are programmed to transmit a specific DMX channel and numeric value associated with each button. The only thing you should have to do is be sure your fixture is in DMX mode, hit the preset button on the controller, then hit the button of the corresponding color you want. Hope this helps and you are able to get full functionality from your gear.
