“Always a good day when you make a mess in the garage” I couldn’t agree more 😌
Dude you inspire me to be more collective when I’m working. No need to rush and stress all the time
Love the modifications! They are Awesome! Thanks for all you do for all of us out here on the day to day grind for new innovated ideas.
Like they're saying, lipstick, crayola, chalk, powdered chalk, caulk, paint, graphite, ink, oil...I've even used water. Perfect cutouts for swithches, etc. in drywall. I will say, you are a Precisionist.
Your wheels are always turning..working on the next generation idea. I knew it wouldn’t be long. Love it!
Thank you for being so through in everything. It’s important to your viewers.
Well done - It's great when mods/designs turn out and work the way you conceived them.
On another video I think you said the main man at Cut Hub made you the nice plastic end covers that snapped into place, nicely finishing off the project.
Great addition! Thanks for sharing.
You can always tell when someone does a right or left face that has not been in the military because their arms swing out. I already knew from previous videos that you are the real deal. Your right face reminded me of it. Thank you for your service.
Not surprised you are modifying it, just one idea, add a small wood guide in front and behind the T-bolt to help align with the T-track, also add
another piece on your jig for alignment along the outer edge of the tracktube, doing this you shouldn't need to remove the knob every time. I did this on a jig and it's just drop in and tighten, have drawing if needed.
Incredible job!!
Great job and thank you for sharing it with us all.
Hopefully Cut Hub watches this and makes it an option when buying their products. Great idea!
So used to working with wood. Lol.
I hear you. Once in a while after I sweat copper I’ll forget and lean on or pick up a pipe. Yeooowwwww
Awesome brackets. Awesome Cut Hub table 💯
Another reason we like you Richard, you are always thinking 🤔 how could we make this better?
I for one am looking forward to the next one!
Cheers!
I am right at the end of my Carpentry/Trim work career and I still want to buy that Cut hub. Nice modifications too, Richard. That's a sweet Crown stop. -Keith
Dang! I'm really impressed with the carrying tote feature.. I'm sold! 😜
Man that is AWSOME as always . One thing I would do is put a washer under the star knobs .
what a simple and great idea about a hour of work is going to make your job so much faster great job
I like the beginning, I assume you were in the military. Thanks for your service and videos, I learn something everytime.
Marine Corps
Right, TURN! was sharp. Hand Salute wouldn't make the cut! Fingers apart! 😂 The mod definitely makes the cut.
Cool jigs bro, it will save you so much time on the job. Keep up the good work!
That’s pretty slick. I really want one now!
That is pretty sweet... Well done on the idea...
Great idea!
Great video thanks Richard ,stay safe
Great ideas thanks for the help!
I just use the (cheap) crown stops that you showed us several years ago. a couple of pieces of 2 x 4 screwed to the sides of the chop saw. Works great for me at a cost of $3. I think it's in the top 5 cool tips you've shown.
I really enjoy your videos. One recommendation I have is I think your next tool needs to be an enclosed trailer. I went with a 16' and have plenty of room for tools and material. I'm a hard surface flooring contractor. At the end of the day I unhook and I have a nice clean truck for evenings and weekends! Best setup I've had, by far.
The threaded holes on the sides of the miter saw can be used to mount the track tube as well.
Great JOB!!
To transfer a center for a threaded hole you can buy transfers screws, which look like a set screw, but have a ground point. You install them put the pice you need to mark up against them and give the piece a whack. You now have a center pint to place the drill on. And, I’d have drilled the access hole for the wrenches.
Great modification to your CutHub.
Always good ideas!
Very ingenious, You have to give the Corps a little credit for teaching you how to adapt and overcome lol. Semper Fi
RLTW
Great idea I'm sure you will use the heck out of that. And thank you for always lowering the volume on the cuts. I know that aluminum cut was hard on the ears.
Little things now that save time later are huge in the long run! great job
Nothing better than a little ingenuity to make your job a little easier and more efficient.
Need to get a mini or micro ratchet for that to save you the headache if you need to take them off in the future. Another good addition would be to etch or tape on a ruler to either stop so you can make sure both sides are same distance away from the back of the fence
You know what I think of your videos? 👍 Every time!
Every time I watch your gear videos I start feeling the heat from the money burning holes in my pocket! Lol
So cool. Love your videos
Great stuff as always 🙏✌️👍🇺🇸
Good idea looks like a great solution.
Fantastic idea
You're gonna be the Grampa all the kids wanna hang around to fix stuff!
Nice video. Even do I own a painting company. Enjoy watching your carpentry videos, really good job. 👌
probably will never do any of this but your videos are relaxing thanks nighty night 🌙
Great opening shot of the 135.. NKAWTG, crewed them many years at MAFB.
Great video man good job
Love it bro
Nice set up dude.
Awesome! Yes today was a good day. Thanks.
Learned to make the template out of cardboard and the transfer to the metal.
Richard, If you go to your local auto supply store you can get a small Ratchet tool where you can change head and is small enough to use inside your track-tube metal. It would be easier to tighten in those tough spots. When I get a chance I will share a picture. It’s very slim and think you can benefit from it.
It would be nice to be able to put a rubber cap at the end of the metal and yes it can become a storage space.
Hello Richard. On your tracking ur putting on each end. Next time take some grease and dab it on the head of the bolts and set the tracks up to it and it will transfer it to where you want to drill. Quick fast. And works great. Or if you have some house paint dab it on the bolt.
I wasn't sure when you first got it but using it as tool transport and know the up grade that's sweet !;-)
Awesome idea man. Should show cut hub
You can put a strip of wood underneath your jig, below the cut line so that the jig remains as one piece. You can even cut the gap with the angles of your saw. Keep up the great work
Ingenious!
Need a way to attach your pocket hole maker to the bench part. That would be cool too. Track tube on the far end. Have it able to slide on and off when needed.
You could use the same tracks in the place of the primed pine board, but it would only work for the crown not the offset panel moulding. Your inventions are awesome dude. Hopefully I'm as good a finish carpenter as you one day
Lay out tip. "Mirror" Flip the channel up side down. Set on top of bench, flush channel with edges, use your square to mark center of bolts. Measure down to center of bolts from top bench., use that measurement to measure up on the channel .
Excellent vid! You are so smart and innovative! I wonder if you could find a plastic end cap that would fit over the cut end of the track, that would give it that OEM look for sure. Thanks for sharing sir!
Love it 👍
Freaking sweet dude!
You could also use the panel mold jig for rabbit cross cuts to hold the wood away from the fence to get full depth cut.
You are having fun......that's what it's all about. God - Family - Dogs - Country - TOOLS!!!!! Thanks brother!
When you first bought it I was thinking man it should have some T-tracks somewhere on it. Problem solved. Looks awesome!
Is there any kind of protective finish on the Cut Hub boards? If not do you plan on adding a finish, maybe boiled linseed oil?
Just use the panel trim molding jig and slide it away from the fence and use it as the crown jig. 2 jigs in one! You will never have to remove the bolts from the jig as you can just loosen the knobs and slip it off. Until you cut through it. But hey, just cut some extras and you never have to worry about it.
Great video as always.
How is the 12” Milwaukee working. I have dewalt 7 1/4 but want to get 12” battery. Would you recommend the dewalt 60v or Milwaukee 12” battery saw. I am getting into more trim jobs and need to get one soon. Thank you for making these awesome videos.
What kind of saw blade you got on the miter saw?
Who’s the man!!🏆💪
If you want, I would be interested in 3d printing you some endcaps for your new CutHub modification. All I would need is a pic of the open side of the TrackTube with a ruler/tape with mm markings on it (against the tube)so I can get the sizing on it. Just want to pay you back for all of the great advice, tips, and tricks! I never miss a video! Could make the front caps so it stopped the bolt from sliding off the front, and allow it to be slid in from the back.
Yes! That would be awesome! Email me richard@finishcarpentry.tv
Love it... keep going. Love the videos. They should pay you a royalty. Its an honest review. Even if you didn't like a feature they should want the feedback to make advancements. Thank you
Lipstick on the head of the bolts. Press your piece against them and the lipstick will transfer over and show you where to drill holes. Plus your wife will love you using her lipstick
You stole my thunder!!! Literally! An old carpenter showed me that trick a long time ago. He used the trick while hanging sheetrock...put the lipstick on the outlet boxes, slapped the rock up there, pulled it back, cut the holes, slapped it back up there before I really knew what he’d done. Strangely enough, it was the first thing I thought about when Richard put the Aluminum up to the bolts!! Good times. 😁
I use wood glue.
@@MattVaden I use graphite from my pencil...
@@randydueck889 👍👍 Yep, it's in your pocket. Or a marking crayon, too.
Yeah me too. Should have seen the look on my wife's face when I said "honey can I borrow a tube of your lipstick, preferable black.
Awesome stuff man, thanks for sharing this, it's cool, and yeah I get super excited too doing stuff like this too, IDK maybe its a man thing LOL
I remember getting my table saw delivered from a common carrier, as soon as the truck pulled up I was out their ready and the truck Driver said, I can always tell when I'm delivering tools because they guys are always eager and ready before they even get out of the truck LOL SO True
Nice crown stop idea. What vendor did you purchase the track rails from?
Curious - why can't you use the back edge of the panel molding jig for the crown molding? Why do you need two jigs?
I see you got a new Starrett Protractor... what happened to good ole trusted stubby? I'm actually picking one up for myself, lol... How do you find the accuracy on them? are they like close to accurate?? and if they're off, can you adjust it?
I was about 15 minutes in, and I was still wondering, why.
Bad ass set up bro. I like your chanel. So what Miter saw you ended up with? DEWALT, MAKITA OR MIL? What about a table saw? Im trying to find as well both Corded / Cordless Miter and Table saw. I will order me a Cut Hub for sure. Now juts trying to find me the saws.
Great job as always bud 👍🏻. You should start patterning your ideas and charge the companies money lol
Looks cool if you know someone with a 3d printer maybe they can make some caps for the ends with your logo on it that would be that over the top detail IMO 😉
I wonder if track saw clamps would work in the slots. Just for speed. Really enjoy your videos.
Your brain is on overdrive when it come to modification.
Excellent idea 💡 👏 would really set it off for the crown 👑 stop if it was aluminium but so you don't cut in to it a half moon shape in the centre matching the curve of the mitre saw plate . Another idea 💡 for you great work look forward to see you use your ideas keep up the great work 👍
When you picked up the hot metal and burned yourself, I really related to that part.
That’s a saaweeeet set up
How do you see the mitre scale with 1x covering it?
Why did you stop using the dewalt 12" flexvolt saw?
I like it!!!
Do you get the fast setting bonding agent at wood craft
I burned myself the same way when I was installing closet doors in my mom's house and I had to cut the tracks to size and I cut them the same way you did. I made the same mistake of trying to pick up the scrap piece right away haha...
Hi can u tell me if I can get colet 1/4 to 1/2 for milwaukee co router?
was anyone able to find what bolts these were I can't find them or the knob that goes with it
Those additions look like they belong there, great idea.
Not sure how the cut hub is set up, but wouldn't you need to cut slots on the jigs where the t-bolts go? In case the spacing changes
Nice Richard, thats only something a guy in the field can come up with as you use your tools. I would'nt be surprised if they in corporate the into the cut hub.
