I think that considering the PS3's age, tomb raider looks amazing on it. Sure, ps4 has upped resolutions and crap, but you gotta hand it to the devs for optimizing this game for PS3 so well..

It is pretty insulting that they're asking full price for this, nor that they're not offering an "upgrade" offer if you have bought the original. As this is really is Eidos belittling us with these stupid tech words in a vain hope it'll convince us to buy the same game full price twice. Extremely worth it. When I first started it, I was prejudice of it. I instantly connected it with Uncharted with comparisons of it and The Last of Us. But I was wrong. This game is truly one of a kind. The story has a groundbreaking. ingenious narrative, fluid original gameplay, and a detailed, natural, beautiful environment that all flows amazingly with the it. Even moments where your adrenaline kicks up. This Tomb Raider game stands on its own, and I didn't want to admit it or take the placement and importance of the Uncharted series, but I consider it better. The pacing of it, and consistency with the artwork of the game and gameplay, engrosses you, to where you feel emotions. There's no repetition, no annoyance, but simply a masterpiece.

AG Entertainment youd be surprised by how important polygons and resolution are to gamers, otherwise we wouldnt have dowbgraded from 60 fps in the ps2/gamecube era of games to where now most games run at 30 fps. Which sucks in my opinion.

You'll always have some fans demanding some games get released on PS4/X1 but people complaining about the rereleases seems silly to me. I feel like Far Cry 3 and Crysis 3 and Bioshock Infinite are making the PS3/360 break a hip a little.

I think this is the major problem with today's "nextgen". You have to put them side by side to notice a slight improvement. If we compare PS2 to PS3 the improvement is mindblowing, you notice it miles away. But from PS3 to PS4 it's barely noticeable. So my question is, why make it already if it's barely worth it? Money?
You should learn more about how hard it is to improve graphics. The thing is, in PS2, it took you a day to create a 3D character's models, animations, and triangular details. In PS3, it probably took more than 5, besides the absurd cost for such work. ( for a face, it took ~3.000 triangles on PS2, on Ps3, ~80.000) Now imagine, if the graphics are already magnificent, how hard and costly it would be to make the changes noticeable. It could take 2 weeks to create a single character..
When you were at ps2 gen you ve got SDtv and res like 480-576p and then you make the jump to new devices like 1080p screens and that was huge!!! by the same time some great graphic engines come along to create great things like weather effects lighting fx water texture and more it was all a technological evolution but it wasnt builded over a night... give some time to "next gen" our gen :) 4k res screens are coming advance 3D real motion and voice control app on cellphone and tablets working with our games Wait to be amazed AGAIN!

This isn't a next gen game for fucks sake, nothing more than what PC had with the basic version. You can't compare graphics over a youtube video, if you do this then you are simply stupid and don't know anything. That's why you don't see a big difference, also because people want the consoles to be so cheap you simply don't get good specs. From 720p to 1080p is a huuuuge difference. It's still 30fps, 60fps would have been much much better.

Because ten or twenty years from now, when PS5 is released. Today's PC's Graphics Cards will still be more powerful. In other words, Console buyers are buying a box that can only play exclusive definition games. Everything else that isn't exclusive to a console is not worth buying because it's always better and cheaper on the PC. In a way, people are throwing their money away on a console instead of just investing on a PC that already expands hundreds of thousands of options that consoles can't do and consoles advertise 10 to 20 options more at every generation jump. I'm not arguing for or against, I have a Gaming PC as well as PS3, PS4, etc... To me consoles are more a family/friends get together play, but when it comes to just me gaming alone, PC is king. There is a way to turn your console into a computer but everyone that already has a PC always states "Why didn't you just buy a PC?" The reason why PC gamer's always complain is because one day consoles will be so powerful that they will become PC's, but we already have PC's. Why do we have to wait for something that we already have? The next 10 - 20 years until PS5/Xbox4 comes are are not going to impress PC gamer's because Sony and Microsoft as well as Nintendo can't afford the best Graphics Cards and RAM because they have to appeal to everyone. They simply can't risk bankruptcy. To me Consoles have their exclusives, Jesus just look at The Last of Us. PC have their freedom and hand held's have their portable uses. Each is King in their own way, There is no right or wrong answer to why we have consoles, PC's, Tablets, or Phones because They are all moving forward.

Guys Definitive Edition isn't for us, they're aiming for those who didn't play it. We had fun on ps3, Square is pissed at them for not making enough money and they're trying hard to get the money back with multiple ideas for a fresh audience, NOT US, Brilliant game, i hope the developers work things out with square.
This video really does no justice to how good the game really looks like on PS4 compared to previous gen. I did my own comparison using my PS4 version, and my 360 version, and the new version makes the old one look like a PS2 game. And to think it looks even better on PC! Incredible.
I never played the 360/ps3 version but I got the xbox one version and I can say I am very impressed. The details are amazing in this game. This is the first game where I am truly impressed. Already played Forza 5,Battlefield 4, and MGS:Ground Zeroes and they had good graphics but I think this one really shows what next gen can be and it's only the beginning.

Regarding PC, I dont think they ported over the new Laura asset textures and shaders. Or am I wrong? I have it on steam I just havent gotten around to playing it yet, Too many games.
I like the PS3 Lara better only because the PS4's version of her face looks somewhat "dolled up" while the PS3 version's face to me seems surprisingly more realistic. I have a female friend that has a face similar to the PS3 Lara's... Maybe that has something to do with it, I dunno. Just an opinion.

It's ridiculous that they can't seem to make up their damn mind on Lara Croft's face. In every new iteration since Tomb Raider Legend, Lara Croft looks like a different person every. single. time. And I seriously doubt it's got anything to do with technological capabilities (i.e. "Oh, but PS2 could only handle so many polygons"); otherwise all the concept arts (including illustrated wallpapers, posters, and such) would consistently have the same face. This time around, for the reboot, they did have a good excuse to change her face...but they changed it YET AGAIN for the "definitive edition." MAKE UP YOUR MIND!

I don't mind the movies as long as I can hold a button to skip it lol. I don't think you can even enjoy games like God of War if they didn't have a good story mode cut scenes. Granted TLOU really stretches the boundaries when it comes to tolerable cutscenes, but it does have one of the best stories in console gaming.

Wow. Now this is a much better conversion to the PS4. Call of Duty Ghosts had barely any noticeable difference between the two versions but this is definitely a deal breaker. The only downside is is that so many people have already played this game and it may not be worth spending the money and time all over again for it. But for those that haven’t played it then their patience has been rewarded.
Well with COD Ghosts on PS3/PS4, we were looking at a 860x600 resolution compared to 1920x1080 resolution which is significant, but I do think that Ghosts is something of an abomination.
I also didn't get chance to play it!! So many games last year plus next-gen consoles, I just couldn't afford Tomb Raider on top of everything else... And I'm so damn happy that I didn't have the money for it now! There is a god afterall :-)
Well, this version also has all of the DLC. It's good if you want to keep console consistency with this new rebooted franchise. And if you don't want to pay $60, just wait for a price drop.

I'm replaying the definitive edition and I'm still amazed by it. Environements are well detailed, light and shadow effects are still very honest and Lara's modelization, expressions and animations are better than some current games. it's hard to believe that it's been released in early 2014, at the very beginning of PS4 lifespan ans adapted from a ps3 game.

The only form of make-up I remember the old Lara having after completing the game was some pretty messed up mascara. New Lara does look cool, indeed, but as a separate character. This will probably drop prices for 360 and ps3 tomb raider & seeing as it's not much of a difference it's probably better value to get last gen versions.

that's a good question I use my PC for business purposes, I just can't see turning my PC into a gaming machine. Every time I imagine someone playing PC games all I see are super dorks with no real life outside of there juiced up $8000 mega rigs with six screens yelling at their mom to stay out of their room because it's their private space!

I personally prefer to game on my PC but have it setup in a way that allows me to play it on my TV's anywhere in the house. it also serves as my media center as well as being a PC in it's own right. I also have a PS3 but for the most part that gets used as a 3D Blu Ray player and netflix streamer. I think it cost me substantially less than $8000 though and i don't live with my mum :)
they didn't mention that they've finally added the hair fx so you can see the strands of hair, this was on the pc version but not the ps3 which made the ps3 laura have one big blob of hair, now they've added it to the ps4 version :)

So I was looking into the his one since it was cheaper and to my surprise they put it on flash sale. So I snatched it and trine 2 both for less than $9. Killer deal.

sure, the visuals are good looking! but is the game worth spending ANOTHER 60 $ for if you've already played the last-gen version? NO my advice would be to buy this game on next gen if you have not played it before. The ones who already bought it for last-gen should be getting some sort of upgrade-discount code, or something - cause I sure aint spending another 60$ on a texture dlc pack

I think Lara's face is much more realistic on PC than PS4 and XboxOne , and her mimicry is better in the PC version too , only her skin color is a bit better in the Definitive Edition

Still don't see any reason to justify them selling the game at full retail price as if it's a total different game! I mean, you can easily compare this situation to Assassins Creed BF, COD Ghosts, FIFA, etc. They all offered the $10 buy back for the Next Gen version... This is a total rip off, if you think giving us free multiplayer DLC is worth it, you should check out how many people actually play multiplayer on this game. Sorry but $65 doesn't cut it for a visual upgrade with the same exact story and gameplay!
Those other games are literally the exact same games just ported to the next gen systems. This version has had a number of things completely remade for the PS4 / XboxOne. It's not just a port which is why it has a new game price.That $10 price for the next gen version is not a "buy back", but I think you may have just used the wrong wording. You could buy the digital PS4 version for $10, but still had to have the PS3 disc to activate and play the game. You actually have to insert the PS3 disc in the PS4 to play the upgraded version. So....this isn't a rip off
The funniest thing is that we thought Lara's face was so different back then in the definitive edition, and all they did was change the eye brows, eye color, and skin tone. Plopped on the TressFX hair and was done. 😆😆😆😆

It largely depends on the rig. There's no doubt that the new gen of consoles are far better than mid-range PCs, but if you wanna compare a high end PC to the new gen, then obviously the PC wins hands down. Give it a couple of years when today's high end becomes more affordable and mid-range, and tomorrow's high end is fucking amazing.
banethesithari The Geforce Titan costs around £800. My card, the GTX 650 Ti Boost, which is pretty much what I consider mid-range, set me back £150 (About $250) alone.
I love all these people trying to say you can buy an equivalent PC for around the same price as you'd pay for the consoles themselves. Even $500 is stretching it. Not if you want all the settings on max and run at 60 fps. You're looking at at LEAST 700 USD. I have never put less than 1000 USD in any gaming PC I have ever built. We all know the ceiling for PCs is much higher but all this stupidity about a $500 PC that will outperform these newest consoles is mad talk. Maybe in about 2-3 more years that'll be the case but today no way.

Effeectt xbox and ps3 are equivalent, more or less, maybe the PS3 version have some blurrier (so less res) textures, ironic since PS3 hardware is designed for have bigger textures... what can you do lazy devs... sure it's playable, as I "enjoyed" it on a low rig PC at custom medium quality...but it looked much better than the consoles versions...

You cant see any difference because of the RUclips Quality.. You as a Pc gamer should know that the difference between textures on low/ultra isnt high. The really big difference is the antialiasing and the scaling. And thats really hard to see on a Video on RUclips.. If you look really really close, you can see on the ps3 version a really high amount of aliasing, which isnt on the ps4. Even the scaling is extremly higher on the ps3 what you can see.
mhm i can only say this to bf4 so i dont know really everything about it but in my opinion everything on low + aa 4x + hbao etc looks better then everything on ultra but no aa, no hbao no textur no filtering etc...
If owners of the original version on PS3/360 can download this version on PS4/XBONE at a discounted price like with CoD Ghosts then sure. If not, a graphical update is not enough to make me re-buy a still fairly recent game at full price all over again.
2:10 well she looks hot as possible on PS4 and then got a skin condition, a hangover and the gameplay just got a huge gray filter on the PS3, but you don't see a difference when playing them separately
I think it looks amazing, but if you played Tomb Raider on the last gen, then its not worth it for next gen, If you never played it, then hey, this is for you!
For full price, they could have at least added a mini single player dlc, a few extras or something. This looks pretty much like the PC version on the highest settings with TressFX and SweetFX and you could have gotten it on a sale for as low as 10$ in some places. Then again, this is Square Enix...
The only reason I will not get this for my PS4 is because I know that the sequel will be limited to the XBONE. So if I like this game, then it's a "screw you" to me and other PS4 owners.
It's beyond irritating to me that they continue to talk about this new version of the game as if the PC copy doesn't exist. Are their PC users not legitimate customers as well? Don't we deserve to be told how this differs from our current product as much as PS3 owners do? I must intuit from this lack of attention that the reason why they are not interested in even attempting to *sell* PC owners on this new edition is because, no, it does not significantly differ from the current version on that platform. But if that is the case, implicitly ignoring that userbase and leaving these customers in the dark about whether or how the Definitive Edition pertains to them just because the publisher has nothing to gain from speaking to them is downright offensive in its selfishness. In other words, show us some damned respect and just come out and say that the Definitive Edition is not a significant enhancement over the current PC version and that PC customers don't need to be concerned with the new product.
This is the absolute best remaster I've ever seen for a game! EVER! So glad I ordered this a few days ago and I can't wait for it to arrive :) P.S. Lara is one hot girl!
Finally we are in the future! It's no longer about the graphics... yay!! Thank you Naugty Dog for giving us a revolutionary game: The Last of Us. From now games will focus on IA, emotions, storytelling, physics... can you imagine how better will be gaming from now if they will focus on those aspects?
The Last of Us had pretty good graphics too though. Naughty Dog even believes the graphics capabilities are important otherwise they wouldn't have ripped on the Wii U for being too weak for anyone to consider developing for which they directly meant as a shot to graphics horsepower and nothing else. I know what you mean though, they made a killer game that had more than just graphics. All those things can be very important, but I also love more old-school style games that even have minimal storyline and challenging gameplay or puzzles over realistic physics and emotion. It's good to have variety. Every gameplay type can have the potential to be great, it's up to the developers to really care about it and take the time to make sure it is. I can very much say, personally for me; a game like Fez, Cave Story, La Mulana or Super Meat Boy can be just as enjoyable as a game like The Last of Us. Even though they didn't really reinvent anything or tell a grand emotional story with realistic ai, they did oldschool in a fresh way that feels like there's still work to be done even on simpler games to make old concepts more fun today. I'm sure there's plenty of people to disagree with me too, but that's alright. There's games for everyone, emotional stories, mindless killing, puzzles, frustratingly difficult. For me they all have the potential to be fun.

I definitely do not need a PS4 to play SuperFrog, Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman! etc. recently I've been playing some Atari 2600 games. What I mean is that finally the "power" of the consoles is going to change video games, for real. It's like sound effects in video games, from 8bit to ultra high definition... now it all about those sounds can provide something more to the game experience (Moneky Island, Silent Hill etc.) they are no longer "cool" effects to play with you latest SoundBlaster16! Now the sound creates a believable environment that immerses you in a believable world. (one of the best IMHO is the Battlefield series).

What I am saying is that the difference between PS3 and PS4, in terms of graphics, is minimal, hence *it's no longer about the graphics...* - the Last of Us is not revolutionary about the graphics (impressive, but not as good as Crysis3 is), is revolutionary about story telling, character development, wise use of violence in a game, animations, voice acting, story telling... in few words, from now game developers must focus on those aspects, since here we are looking to a side by side comparison to tell what's different from PS3 and PS4 in terms of graphics.

the reason PC players feel this way is because consoles are holding back graphics and any kind of advancement for years at a time hell this game could look even better if they didn't have to cater to such old hardware.
You don't. PC players exist on an entirely different plane of existence. One that is free from the petty squabbles of console wars, lackluster graphics, and all other manner of plague. Once you, yourself, have elevated into a state free from disease, sin, and death, you can look at yourself in the mirror and know how it feels to be a PC player.
Welll its just that if the devs wanted to they could throw on better textures. Thats how I can say it. For the PS4 they probably went as far as they could. So although this game loses on PC it was because of the devs being lazy. Consoles hold pc games back from looking better so that they can easily port the game to other consoles without having to do a graphics over haul.

I think that considering the PS3's age, tomb raider looks amazing on it. Sure, ps4 has upped resolutions and crap, but you gotta hand it to the devs for optimizing this game for PS3 so well..

Extremely worth it. When I first started it, I was prejudice of it. I instantly connected it with Uncharted with comparisons of it and The Last of Us. But I was wrong. This game is truly one of a kind. The story has a groundbreaking. ingenious narrative, fluid original gameplay, and a detailed, natural, beautiful environment that all flows amazingly with the it. Even moments where your adrenaline kicks up. This Tomb Raider game stands on its own, and I didn't want to admit it or take the placement and importance of the Uncharted series, but I consider it better. The pacing of it, and consistency with the artwork of the game and gameplay, engrosses you, to where you feel emotions. There's no repetition, no annoyance, but simply a masterpiece.

Yeah graphics are important, but at the same time people will say that Wii U's graphics suck because they know the PS4's hardware is stronger, negating the fact that many Wii U games have gorgeous graphics. Oh, Wii U is weaker, so it sucks. People also have to learn the difference between graphics and aesthetics. That would help too.
Some gamers actually care about graphics because it adds to the cinematic experience.

I wonder what PC gamers mean when they say their PCs are better than consoles, when the title doesn't mention PC at all. It's a comparison between an old and a new console.
I think this is the major problem with today's "nextgen". You have to put them side by side to notice a slight improvement. If we compare PS2 to PS3 the improvement is mindblowing, you notice it miles away. But from PS3 to PS4 it's barely noticeable. So my question is, why make it already if it's barely worth it? Money?
You should learn more about how hard it is to improve graphics. The thing is, in PS2, it took you a day to create a 3D character's models, animations, and triangular details. In PS3, it probably took more than 5, besides the absurd cost for such work. ( for a face, it took ~3.000 triangles on PS2, on Ps3, ~80.000)
Now imagine, if the graphics are already magnificent, how hard and costly it would be to make the changes noticeable. It could take 2 weeks to create a single character..
When you were at ps2 gen you ve got SDtv and res like 480-576p and then you make the jump to new devices like 1080p screens and that was huge!!! by the same time some great graphic engines come along to create great things like weather effects lighting fx water texture and more it was all a technological evolution but it wasnt builded over a night... give some time to "next gen" our gen :) 4k res screens are coming advance 3D real motion and voice control app on cellphone and tablets working with our games Wait to be amazed AGAIN!

Because ten or twenty years from now, when PS5 is released. Today's PC's Graphics Cards will still be more powerful. In other words, Console buyers are buying a box that can only play exclusive definition games.
Everything else that isn't exclusive to a console is not worth buying because it's always better and cheaper on the PC. In a way, people are throwing their money away on a console instead of just investing on a PC that already expands hundreds of thousands of options that consoles can't do and consoles advertise 10 to 20 options more at every generation jump.

To me consoles are more a family/friends get together play, but when it comes to just me gaming alone, PC is king.
There is a way to turn your console into a computer but everyone that already has a PC always states "Why didn't you just buy a PC?" The reason why PC gamer's always complain is because one day consoles will be so powerful that they will become PC's, but we already have PC's. Why do we have to wait for something that we already have? The next 10 - 20 years until PS5/Xbox4 comes are are not going to impress PC gamer's because Sony and Microsoft as well as Nintendo can't afford the best Graphics Cards and RAM because they have to appeal to everyone. They simply can't risk bankruptcy.
To me Consoles have their exclusives, Jesus just look at The Last of Us.
PC have their freedom and hand held's have their portable uses.
Each is King in their own way, There is no right or wrong answer to why we have consoles, PC's, Tablets, or Phones because They are all moving forward.

Guys Definitive Edition isn't for us, they're aiming for those who didn't play it. We had fun on ps3, Square is pissed at them for not making enough money and they're trying hard to get the money back with multiple ideas for a fresh audience, NOT US, Brilliant game, i hope the developers work things out with square.
This video really does no justice to how good the game really looks like on PS4 compared to previous gen. I did my own comparison using my PS4 version, and my 360 version, and the new version makes the old one look like a PS2 game.
And to think it looks even better on PC! Incredible.
I never played the 360/ps3 version but I got the xbox one version and I can say I am very impressed. The details are amazing in this game. This is the first game where I am truly impressed. Already played Forza 5,Battlefield 4, and MGS:Ground Zeroes and they had good graphics but I think this one really shows what next gen can be and it's only the beginning.

It's ridiculous that they can't seem to make up their damn mind on Lara Croft's face. In every new iteration since Tomb Raider Legend, Lara Croft looks like a different person every. single. time. And I seriously doubt it's got anything to do with technological capabilities (i.e. "Oh, but PS2 could only handle so many polygons"); otherwise all the concept arts (including illustrated wallpapers, posters, and such) would consistently have the same face. This time around, for the reboot, they did have a good excuse to change her face...but they changed it YET AGAIN for the "definitive edition." MAKE UP YOUR MIND!

Wow. Now this is a much better conversion to the PS4. Call of Duty Ghosts had barely any noticeable difference between the two versions but this is definitely a deal breaker. The only downside is is that so many people have already played this game and it may not be worth spending the money and time all over again for it. But for those that haven’t played it then their patience has been rewarded.
Well with COD Ghosts on PS3/PS4, we were looking at a 860x600 resolution compared to 1920x1080 resolution which is significant, but I do think that Ghosts is something of an abomination.

I'm replaying the definitive edition and I'm still amazed by it. Environements are well detailed, light and shadow effects are still very honest and Lara's modelization, expressions and animations are better than some current games. it's hard to believe that it's been released in early 2014, at the very beginning of PS4 lifespan ans adapted from a ps3 game.
Wish they kept this Lara's face for Rise and Shadow. So much better.

well, not all PC Gamers are quite like that but i get your point. I personally prefer to game on my PC but have it setup in a way that allows me to play it on my TV's anywhere in the house. it also serves as my media center as well as being a PC in it's own right.
I also have a PS3 but for the most part that gets used as a 3D Blu Ray player and netflix streamer.
I think it cost me substantially less than $8000 though and i don't live with my mum :)

they didn't mention that they've finally added the hair fx so you can see the strands of hair, this was on the pc version but not the ps3 which made the ps3 laura have one big blob of hair, now they've added it to the ps4 version :)

I'm about to buy the same games! i wasn’t sure about the order, but for 5 bucks it's worth a try.. sleeping dogs is another excellent choice for that price, an open world game with a unique recreation of hong kong, enhanced graphics plus all dlcs!

I love how there are "console wars" still going on comparing PC to XBOX/PS4...You do realise they are ALL COMPUTERS right? no matter what you pick, its simply a "better computer" in which PC usually wins because of its forever upgraded gpu
I think Lara's face is much more realistic on PC than PS4 and XboxOne , and her mimicry is better in the PC version too , only her skin color is a bit better in the Definitive Edition

Still don't see any reason to justify them selling the game at full retail price as if it's a total different game! I mean, you can easily compare this situation to Assassins Creed BF, COD Ghosts, FIFA, etc. They all offered the $10 buy back for the Next Gen version... This is a total rip off, if you think giving us free multiplayer DLC is worth it, you should check out how many people actually play multiplayer on this game. Sorry but $65 doesn't cut it for a visual upgrade with the same exact story and gameplay!
Those other games are literally the exact same games just ported to the next gen systems. This version has had a number of things completely remade for the PS4 / XboxOne. It's not just a port which is why it has a new game price.That $10 price for the next gen version is not a "buy back", but I think you may have just used the wrong wording. You could buy the digital PS4 version for $10, but still had to have the PS3 disc to activate and play the game. You actually have to insert the PS3 disc in the PS4 to play the upgraded version. So....this isn't a rip off
The funniest thing is that we thought Lara's face was so different back then in the definitive edition, and all they did was change the eye brows, eye color, and skin tone. Plopped on the TressFX hair and was done.

It largely depends on the rig. There's no doubt that the new gen of consoles are far better than mid-range PCs, but if you wanna compare a high end PC to the new gen, then obviously the PC wins hands down.
Give it a couple of years when today's high end becomes more affordable and mid-range, and tomorrow's high end is fucking amazing.

I love all these people trying to say you can buy an equivalent PC for around the same price as you'd pay for the consoles themselves. Even $500 is stretching it. Not if you want all the settings on max and run at 60 fps. You're looking at at LEAST 700 USD. I have never put less than 1000 USD in any gaming PC I have ever built. We all know the ceiling for PCs is much higher but all this stupidity about a $500 PC that will outperform these newest consoles is mad talk. Maybe in about 2-3 more years that'll be the case but today no way.

xbox and ps3 are equivalent, more or less, maybe the PS3 version have some blurrier (so less res) textures, ironic since PS3 hardware is designed for have bigger textures... what can you do lazy devs...

You cant see any difference because of the RUclips Quality.. You as a Pc gamer should know that the difference between textures on low/ultra isnt high. The really big difference is the antialiasing and the scaling. And thats really hard to see on a Video on RUclips.. If you look really really close, you can see on the ps3 version a really high amount of aliasing, which isnt on the ps4. Even the scaling is extremly higher on the ps3 what you can see.
I think if you download the video directly from RUclips, which you can do with yt downloader, you will see a really really big difference.

If owners of the original version on PS3/360 can download this version on PS4/XBONE at a discounted price like with CoD Ghosts then sure. If not, a graphical update is not enough to make me re-buy a still fairly recent game at full price all over again.

For full price, they could have at least added a mini single player dlc, a few extras or something. This looks pretty much like the PC version on the highest settings with TressFX and SweetFX and you could have gotten it on a sale for as low as 10$ in some places.

The only reason I will not get this for my PS4 is because I know that the sequel will be limited to the XBONE. So if I like this game, then it's a "screw you" to me and other PS4 owners.

It's beyond irritating to me that they continue to talk about this new version of the game as if the PC copy doesn't exist. Are their PC users not legitimate customers as well? Don't we deserve to be told how this differs from our current product as much as PS3 owners do?
I must intuit from this lack of attention that the reason why they are not interested in even attempting to *sell* PC owners on this new edition is because, no, it does not significantly differ from the current version on that platform. But if that is the case, implicitly ignoring that userbase and leaving these customers in the dark about whether or how the Definitive Edition pertains to them just because the publisher has nothing to gain from speaking to them is downright offensive in its selfishness.
In other words, show us some damned respect and just come out and say that the Definitive Edition is not a significant enhancement over the current PC version and that PC customers don't need to be concerned with the new product.

It's no longer about the graphics... yay!! Thank you Naugty Dog for giving us a revolutionary game: The Last of Us. From now games will focus on IA, emotions, storytelling, physics... can you imagine how better will be gaming from now if they will focus on those aspects?
The Last of Us had pretty good graphics too though. Naughty Dog even believes the graphics capabilities are important otherwise they wouldn't have ripped on the Wii U for being too weak for anyone to consider developing for which they directly meant as a shot to graphics horsepower and nothing else. I know what you mean though, they made a killer game that had more than just graphics. All those things can be very important, but I also love more old-school style games that even have minimal storyline and challenging gameplay or puzzles over realistic physics and emotion. It's good to have variety. Every gameplay type can have the potential to be great, it's up to the developers to really care about it and take the time to make sure it is. I can very much say, personally for me; a game like Fez, Cave Story, La Mulana or Super Meat Boy can be just as enjoyable as a game like The Last of Us. Even though they didn't really reinvent anything or tell a grand emotional story with realistic ai, they did oldschool in a fresh way that feels like there's still work to be done even on simpler games to make old concepts more fun today. I'm sure there's plenty of people to disagree with me too, but that's alright. There's games for everyone, emotional stories, mindless killing, puzzles, frustratingly difficult. For me they all have the potential to be fun.

It's like sound effects in video games, from 8bit to ultra high definition... now it all about those sounds can provide something more to the game experience (Moneky Island, Silent Hill etc.) they are no longer "cool" effects to play with you latest SoundBlaster16! Now the sound creates a believable environment that immerses you in a believable world. (one of the best IMHO is the Battlefield series).

What I am saying is that the difference between PS3 and PS4, in terms of graphics, is minimal, hence *it's no longer about the graphics...* - the Last of Us is not revolutionary about the graphics (impressive, but not as good as Crysis3 is), is revolutionary about story telling, character development, wise use of violence in a game, animations, voice acting, story telling... in few words, from now game developers must focus on those aspects, since here we are looking to a side by side comparison to tell what's different from PS3 and PS4 in terms of graphics.
This is definitely worth it if you didn't buy the PS3/360 version. That's why I'm buying it!

Welll its just that if the devs wanted to they could throw on better textures. Thats how I can say it. For the PS4 they probably went as far as they could. So although this game loses on PC it was because of the devs being lazy. Consoles hold pc games back from looking better so that they can easily port the game to other consoles without having to do a graphics over haul.
