I was reading a book, The Five People You Meet in Heaven, and the main character said that he met his first true love to this song. I thought I'd see what it sounded like.
If you listen to her first recording of this in 1938 when she was 14, her voice is pure innocence and full of wonder and hope. Then listen to this version and you can hear the adult woman she had become and all the pain and passion of her life is reflected in her voice. I so loved this woman
I love this song. It reminds me of the old lady I looked after in the care home. I told her of year2k version which always makes her laugh. "You made me love you, you wake me up and do it, you wake me up and do it. "
Gifted with a unique, beautiful, distinctive voice. Interesting to hear how her voice had matured from her teenage years with this song. Of courrse she drank liquor, used drugs and smoked cigarettes and her health declined. By the mid 1960s one could discern the diminished voice quality. But in 1951 still great.

No one could sing this better than JUDY! Ariana Grande cannot hold a candle - sorry but it is the way it IS.
I found it! Thank you =)
The One , the only Judy Garland!
Great artist. Back in the days when the artists relied on talent, and not outrageous behavior, to sell their music.
A very difficult piece to be done as a vocal, after Harry James re-created good music with his 1941 instrumental recording.
wonderful music x
