I was thinking that too. But it would be pretty difficult for people who grew up in an entirely different cultural or temporal context with different standards of humour to understand what was going on, and especially those who have had little to no contact with Aussie/British contemporary culture. Throw in poor understanding of english as a second language and they'll probably need a map. Quick-paced sarcasm doesn't translate well when having to navigate language _and_ cultural barriers.
