2015 Volvo 670 D13/12 speed auto. Brick pulling a block. No aero what so ever. Average 7.1mpg ( hand calculated every fill ) @55 target speed ,1275 rpm. Trying not to surpass 22.5 boost pressure as you suggested. Pyrometer trying to keep it below 640°F on a hill. Michelin steers and drives. Running Hot Shots Secret fuel and oil additive . Trailer switch every two days that have mixed tires to deplete stock leftovers. Did a boost leak test found intercooler had a pinhole in it. Getting a company supplied 2020 VNL 760 soon. Don't have all the specs yet but another D13 12 speed. Really enjoying trying to save fuel. Company appreciates the effort.
That's great that you have been tracking your numbers while being a company driver. I'm sure your company appreciates it. Have you thought about being an owner operator?

@@jptransport8830 i was able to get this brick & block combination as high as 8.8mpg during the summer. 44,000lb load on average of the same bagged wood shavings to deliver , then return empty to switch trailers. I'm asking the company to try and get me on a delivery only schedule as to avoid the drop a full trailer at a customer's and backhaul an empty. This way we can aero pimp out one trailer to accent the newer aero Volvo I'm switching to soon. A GoPro camera aimed at your instrument panel would be an interesting teaching aid video to see your techniques.
@@NormanMeloche 8.8 is great mpg! That would be great if the company will let you aero outfit a trailer. It makes a difference believe me, My other trailer doesn't have all the aero on it and it's .8 to 1 mpg different. When you can really tell the difference is when conditions are bad like cross wind.
Good deal! I've always been told for every mph you slow down it will make tenth in fuel mileage. If you could slow down to around 55 you would be in the 8's
You might can take those hood mirrors off. Lots of trucks don’t have them. I never look in those mirrors. That Take away some more air drag. Also add a bottom bumper air spoiler. I don’t see one of those on your trucks. Those are supposed to really cut down drag
I've thought about removing those hood mirrors, I'm sure it would help. I'm going to replace this truck in the fall with a newer truck so, I probably won't do the bumper spoiler on this truck.
@@jptransport8830 what truck are you getting next? I just bought a completely rebuilt 1998 FL century with dd60. Everything is brand new, every wire, hose, clamp pump, engine, tranny, diffs, ecm, everything. I’m going to build it for mpg too. Got sick of having emission issues with the 3 Volvo I owned. This FL is no egr, no scr, no def, no dpf. It just passed emissions test flying colors. I’ve been in the shop every 2-3 months like clockwork with 2016 Volvos from emissions. Spent probably 70k in 3 years and lost even more from down time. So sick of that. If I have to give up 1 mpg to not deal with emission systems, sign me up.
@@jemhadar5029 I'm definitely going to buy another Cascadia. I've been looking at some prime trucks from pedigree truck sales, they have great specs and aerodynamics. The only thing I don't like is that they are traditional 6x4 trucks. I'm keeping my eyes open for a factory 6X2 Cascadia with a liftable forward axle. That's really a good find on that older freightliner, I'm sure it will be a good truck.
@@jptransport8830 try calling select trucks in Portland Oregon. They have retired May trucking fleet maintained cascadia all species for fuel mileage. Already have the rim caps on and everything. @@jemhadar5029 I'll check that out. I bought this truck at select trucks in Joplin, MO. It came out of a small fleet called TDC. I've been looking at some of their trucks as well. I would really like my next truck to have a APU because I don't idle in the summer and about kills me in the heat.
Just ran into your channel. What year, truck, engine do you have? I saw a guy in experimental truck trailer that was like a bullet train and super aero dynamic. He averages 13mpg under load. Your not far off from that million dollar rig
Hey, I'm glad you found it. It's a 2014 Cascadia with a DD15 at 505hp. Transmission is a direct drive 10 spd manual and rear end is a 2.50, it's a 6x2 the front tandem is powered and the rear tandem is a trailer axle. That's crazy a million dollar rig is only getting 3 more MPG
I'm glad you found the channel. Yes, the truck makes a difference. I've heard before the difference between aero and non aero trucks is a full mile to the gallon. I don't think the older non emission trucks can get the mpg that the newer ones can.
57 if I have time and 65 if I'm in a hurry. I was driving 57 in a 70 when the TSP pulled me over. I didn't think it would be a problem because they have a minimum of 50.
