EARTHSIDE All We Knew And Ever Loved Reaction and Dissection The Decomposer lounge
I came across this the other day and have listened to it a few times since. Stunning. This is the first music release by Earthside in six years, and this track, as well as the whole album, was inspired by a painting by Goya called "Duelo a Garrotazos" or ("Fight with Cudgels"). According to interview this is about mankind destroying so much - 'All That We Knew and Ever Loved". The drummer, Ben Shanbrom, says the "vindictive pettiness that we see all around us in our politics, our arguments, and daily interactions is something universal and terrifying in human nature". They tried to capture that in the video and music.The piece was composed by the keyboardist, Frank Sacramone.
Goya's painting presents a sad but true vision of Spain (if that was his intention or even if it wasn't). In the 120 following years, we went through four civil wars. Still today, two centuries after it was painted and after 85 years of peace, 'the two Spains' are alive and kicking. Kicking each other, that is.
There were two drummers, Earthside’s and Baard. You hearing two snares was actually just them working off each other and doing a sort of “drum duel.”
Earthside is so underrated. I'm amazed at the amount of detail they put into each song. It's not about making the money by pumping out songs for them. Also to add.....Aww Right!!!
I've never heard of Earthside but I will definitely delve into them much deeper for certain. I truly enjoyed and appreciated their musical composition & the visual art that enhanced and blended perfectly with the storytelling. I love this kind of presentation. It had me on the edge of my seat for sure! Awwwright! 🤘🔥🤘❤️

I have never heard of Earthside before but I will definitely delve more into this band for certain. I truly appreciated and enjoyed the visual art, & the musical composition that blended perfectly with the storytelling. It had me on the edge of my seat for sure! Awwwright! 🤘🔥🤘❤️

For your information actually the video clip was made after the music.
The fact that the music itself already tell an incredible story, we just had to close our eyes with Sylvain Favre and imagine the visual story by listening.
We found all the part in the music and use the grid as a guide to the structure of the visual story.
Actually the music structure is really similar and fit for the kind of structure we find in « story » from Robert mckee which is a reference for structuring scenario for film.
You have the first event that change everything’s, the « discover the world » part, introduction to the goal, several obstacles then multiple climax…
It was an incredible experience for us to make this clip/short film, and I can’t thank you enough for your time spend on reviewing it 🔥

It amazes me how they got the attention of those higher up that funded the band to allow them to put out a video with this level of production on their first album.

I watched them in Seattle, on tour with Leprous.
Maybe five years ago or so.
They were pretty good.
Also visited with them before the show, and they were pretty cool dudes

If you want to do more instrumental reactions, you should check out the band Explosions In The Sky. They do some soundtrack work as well, but their albums are amazing. "Your Hand In Mine" is probably the most well known song, but "The Birth And Death Of The Day" and "Disintigration Anxiety" are very good as well. Cheers!

Just wondered if you have ever done a breakdown of Standout computer game music scores, such as Halo, Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous or Stellaris would be my suggestions. i know you probably have a MASSIVE backlog of titles your still wanting to do breakdowns of, just figured i would enquire.
He did Halo 1 main theme. Hasn't done anymore that I can recall. He was bombarded with Steve Vai's Halo 2 theme and Mick Gordon rip and tear.

@@interdimensional115 Dude, I listen to ERRA because I rarely find ANY band with the same sound and complexity to their tracks... But Achitects? Nah, I think you should listen to ERRAs last album (perhaps even every album) and rethink that statement, because they are two completely different bands imo. I used to listen to Architects A LOT a few years back, and I really enjoyed their stuff on LF // LT and AOGHAU. But the latest two albums have been a bit simple and bland for my taste... I really hoped they would grow on me, but they never did. Both ERRA and Architects have a really special place in my heart, and both make great music! But I wouldn't call ERRAs music 'basic' and 'no substance' and not even CLOSE to being copycats of Architects! But that's just my opinion. Have a good one ;D
