  • If you own a Hitec Optima receiver and haven't taken advantage of the SPC port, what are you waiting for?! It's one of the easiest and most beneficial features of the receiver and allows you to monitor your main pack voltage in real-time, long before the ESC hits low voltage cutoff. Watch our quick workshop clinic and start taking advantage of this amazing feature right now!

I was an old die-hard ElectroTek RC LXS monitor user until I started using the built in SPC monitoring. What a great way to go for sure. Still a problem when I use Futaba or Spektrum but about half our gear runs on Hitec so it's worked out great. No additional parts needed.

Got the Aurora 9 and hooked up the SPC tie in. Friggin awesome. The radio is a huge upgrade from the DX6i and the flight pack level info on the radio is great.
    Thanks again.

Some Hitec radios like the Aurora 9 already monitor receiver voltage on the main screen and you can set your alarm to the voltage threshold you want. Your NiMH battery is supplying the radio system with its power so there isn't a secondary power source keeping the plane in the air (unless it's a gas plane with a separate ignition battery). In that case you'd want to use telemetry to monitor the ignition battery and leave the standard setup on the radio to monitor the Rx battery.

Thanks! I'll be switching from a Dx6i to the Aurora 9 very soon. Just doing my homework.

Yes, any Hitec Rx with an SPC port. Optima 6, 6 Lite, 7, and 9.

First, thanks for the video. I've looked and looked for the proper way to do this and I finally found it in your video. I have a couple if questions if you dont mind....
Question 1: I did this exactly the way you have described it, and my Tx has the main battery voltage displayed but I lose the bind. Suggestions?
Question 2: Should I be concerned about the small wires that I am using to connect to the SPC? Seems like a lot of voltage/amperage to run through such a small wire.

Why isn't channel 3 marked as power/throttle as default in the transmitter for all model type if that is the only thing you can use it for, across the range of receivers?

which ports on that servo cable are used for the lead out to the battery ? looks like the top two

Questions: Does this work the same way on a Optima 6 Rx? I notice it also has a SPC input on it as well.

Any recommendations for an VQ Bonanza. I'm using an e flute electric motor. With this same radio and receiver.

How about for 2.4ghz Hitec Optic 6 is it the same setup to have LBW?

How did you set up the flaps? I'm doing a Y connection but one servo goes down and the other goes up.. I'm trying not to do it with the Y connection, and use the 7 channel but that where the battery goes.

Re-orient one of your servos so both go in the same direction. I struggled and finally learned how to get two servos operating flaps in three trimmable positions for retracted, takeoff and landing deflections, with slowed servo action. Got help from Hitec technician, requires transmitter settings and mechanical linkage adjustments and some profanity.

hi... I connect the spc to the lipo as in this vid... yes... I've got the lipo voltage value... however when I try to set the min voltage value my a9 respond "sensor are not connected" ... what am I do wrong?
thanks again for sharing this informative video...

Hi, I am having the same problem. Did you manage to make it work?

Quick question: When you have the SPC tie in, does it actually feed power to the receiver. Specifically, would it prevent brown outs if I'm using like 6 or 7 servos? (With, for example, a 30amp ESC with built in BEC feeding the receiver)

    • @garygullikson6349
      @garygullikson6349 2 года назад

The Supplementary Power Connection (SPC) feeds power to the receiver independently and directly from the motor battery pack so you should never have a brownout. Optima receivers operate on up to 35 volts. Servos get power separately from the speed control's battery eliminator circuit ( BEC)

Great video, thanks a lot! If I have 2 x 6s batteries in parallel does that add up to 12 cells (3.7 V per cell) or not?
In that case my output will be over 35V in total and I will not be able to use SPC port! Is that correct or am I missing something? Thanks

Hi.. can i still use the SPC option if Im already using a external sbec. It's confusing. I thought by using a external sbec that it powers the rx in case of a brown out anyway so why would I need the SPC. Please help.
