For the JOKERS that complain about me not working on my car: I work on computers for a living because I blew out my back playing sports. If I could I would.
No worries bro sometimes there’s no time I wish I could work on my car more but I have the kids and all to look after them there’s after school and all that craziness haha
I did a brake upgrade on my 99 Dodge ram using Power Stop but I also upgraded the calipers. They are now better than new. The brakes on my 2018 Chrysler 300 seem to over heat too fast and are only good for one emergency stop. After that, it does not want to stop. I was going down a steep mountain in Wyoming when the brake fade so bad, I had to pull over and let them cool down. I only had 8,000 miles on the so called high performance brakes that came on the car . Thanks for the video.
The Charger police interceptor brakes are better than the 4pot srt brembos and cost less than $600 for calipers, rotors and pads. Haven’t installed mine yet but I look forward to seeing the difference it makes.
Luke Gargano lol and the unsprung weight you adding with that kit is so heavy. You’re better off getting a big brake kit and calling it a day. Especially since it comes with 2 pice rotors which are lighter than the factory rotors and don’t warp or shutter.
I upgraded mine a few months ago with the the whole Kit (brake pads, rotors and the red calipers) from autozone, instantly the squeaking was of no more and brake dust has been minimal to none. And they look great with the red calipers, there not brembo,s but they do the job.
I had those brakes at one time on my first challenger they were ok and the rotors made it look better but the performance was not much better compared to stock it was just looks, I learned not to waste time on minuscule parts like that and fast forward to my R/T now being cammed and putting down 430 I knew I needed big brakes so I did the wilwood 6/4piston set up and what a major major difference even in terms of unsprung weight from 2piece rotors to actually being able to stop with no fade or shuttering. It’s costly but so worth it down the road! Plus way less brake dust! I really recommend you get rid of Those 3/1 calipers on a nearly 4000lb car they put tiny brakes in the back it’s crazy
I Got an rt and worped two sets of factory rotors in two years. I completely agree with the cars weight and itty bitty breaks being crazy af. No matter how much power you have, because of the weight, the car needs a better breaking set up than what the factory is putting on! So... You say you had these on your first Challenger. Just to be sure did you still experience rotor worpage, fading, shuttering, and all the nasties that come along with the factory turd? Because I really need an cost effective upgrade but can't afford to waste money on these if they're not much better.
@@turtle6455 To be honest, they'll probably hold up better than the factory rotors; but upgrading the calipers is what'll really give you better stopping power.
Turtle yeah they still would warp and shutter under hard braking or fades during high heat on the rotors and pads. They’ll probably last a tad bit longer than stock but no really gains. 6/4 pistons are really the way to go, plus the 2pice rotors are much lighter and doesn’t have shuttering or fading what’s so ever. If anything the unsprung weight has made a huge difference in handling and brakes now like the car has lost 500lbs. I wouldn’t sell myself short on those powerstops not gonna feel much difference it’s worth it going with a big brake kit on these big muscle cars 👍
Dam, bummer. Talked to someone in another comment, who swore by these z26's. And I was getting syked to get a set. My deal is, once my breaks and rotors heat up, I start getting pulsing and vibration in my break peddle. I took it to the dealer and they said my rotors were worped. I said gimme new ones at $450. Less than a year later and I've got the issue back. They work fine at lower speeds but one slow down on the highway or an exit that snuck up on me and they're shaking like a who'haw rattler until they cool down again. So, how costly are we talking here, for the wilwoods? Thanks for the replies by the way! 👍
Turtle not gonna lie they’re pretty expensive but so worth it since my car is modded and puts down more power than a stock rt very close to srt numbers. I paid 4K for the brakes and install, labor included. It’s definitely something worth getting as you’ll use them to slow/stop yourself everywhere you drive. They’re definitely track ready if I want to do some laps/auto cross. They definitely don’t fade like I said the unsprung weight is incredible in handling. By that I mean the wheels feel lighter and turns much better along with being able to slow down quickly. Just makes driver confidence go up and the car is more capable. Being able to accelerate fast is one thing but big brake kits are a game changer! I couldn’t sell myself short on a powerstop kit since it’s so similar to stock and the gains are minimal. I know everyone swears by the z26 they’re great on a budget but 6/4 piston set ups are amazing. Plus adds some eye candy looking at the wheels.
Yeah I always had great results with the drilled and slotted power stop rotors and akebono pads. Stock wasn’t actually to bad except they will overheat and fade if you do too many hard stops in rapid succession, but jam on them once and they do stop hard.
I got some rear caliper BRACKETS off of a cop car, which allowed me to still use the my R/T caliper, (same part there, bracket is only difference). The cop rear rotors are the same diameter as SRT rear rotors, just a little thinner, but still thicker than stock RTs. This makes your rear brakes the same diameter as your fronts and when you brake, it really squats the car down, instead of nose dive. I didn't notice how bad the nose dive was until I swapped the smaller rotors back on for testing. Big difference, small $$$.
I got a 16' R/T Charger N finally swap out the pads n disc for this Z26 upgrade @ 75K(I had the upgraded 75K factory warranty). After about 40k miles, I would feel the brakes squeal, fade, n shake when I brake hard or come off a freeway off-ramp. This is a good upgrade!
Definitely a solid upgrade. I've been wondering when you were going to do this. I knew it had to be coming soon as fast as the R/T is becoming. I did this upgrade about a year ago. Very glad I did and I'm sure you will be too👍🏽
I noticed her didn’t spray the rotors down with break cleaner or something. That’s a must when installing new ones. It removes the crap that on them when shipped to protect them
Jay Patrick Sei you right I didn’t catch that at first. He dam sure didn’t. This install reminds me of the first couple sets of brakes I did. Lol when I didn’t know how to FULLY do them 100% correct.
I upgraded mine with drilled/slotted rotors and ceramic pads from Brakemotive! They come coated in black and never rust! Significantly thicker than stock and at $85 for the fronts and $75 for the rears(with pads) was a great investment!! Plus they look sick with the two tone once the coating is taken of the contact patch on the rotor!!
Damn! I'm at 53k miles and my pads are still around 7mm all around, rotors still good too. But I have gone through like 3 sets of tires if you know what I mean 😂
It took me less than a couple hours to replace mine and it was super easy. The only thing bad I have to say is I was “driving behind a BMW” on a mountainous road and at a point the brakes were too hot and wouldn’t stop my car. It was the most uneasy feeling I have ever had driving. I did the “break-in” just as instructed too so it wasn’t to do with that. I have the same exact car as you (but black) without most of the mods of course. So quick heads up if you are driving her hard and braking a lot!! Other than that they are awesome. Lol. Great video and recommendation!
Thank you very much for the heads up! I will keep that in mind for when I actually drive hard. That's def a nerve racking situation, a couple of other people said similar so it is a little concerning.
I think it’s awesome you’re doing your breaks with the Powerstop Brakes, I ordered mine last week. I finally got a day off of work and going to knock them out this morning! I too got the Extreme Brakes..lol
If you don’t track the car you don’t need to upgrade the brakes. I’ve always put the best rotors and pads available on all my cars, but the stock rt brakes literally caused mild dizziness hard stopping from triple digits. They pull a lot of gs. Unless you’re jamming on them constantly and don’t have to worry about overheating they’re fine. I’d still put the best pads and rotors available when I change them, but no need to change calipers. Braided stainless lines never hurt. Akebono pads and some good slotted premium rotors are plenty for street driving.
Great video! I have a ‘17 challenger rt which is equipped with single piston front calipers (cringe) so Ive got dual piston front calipers and hoses on the way with new rear calipers all powder coated red for that extra umph pop. I opt for rotors which have three rows of drilled holes between each slot for personal preference. I’ll be detailing my splash shields and suspension rather thoroughly upon installation for OCD purposes
Her Charger is her baby! Lol, so i know for a fact your gonna be really pleased with your brake upgrade. My 2007 SRT8 Super Bee, & "our" 2013 Charger 392 both run the Brembos. And, the brakes on her Charger bite alot easier than either of other 2 Chargers. I always "brake too hard" everytime! Lol, its awesome! Shr usually makes the more sane choice! Lol, i go straight for "Its big, bad, loud, & flashy! And, more than fast enough to do something really stupid in!" My niece who lives in Vegas told me, thats our family moto. Lol
I didn't see the guy installing the brakes clean any of the hubs or the caliper brackets. It's really a must do because you need a clean flat surface for the new parts to seat against. I use hi temp anti seize on the hubs, and synthetic brake part lubricant under and on top of the stainless pad shims. The caliper alignment bolts need silicone dielectric grease or synthetic brake lube to keep the caliper floating freely.
Awesome video brother. I Changed the Front brake pads on the Widebody Challenger With the Power Stop Extreme pads because of break dust. Makes all the difference and still performs great too.
I actually got the powerstops a while ago and they make a world of difference. I don't recall them being the extremes, maybe the line before it but they were drilled and slotted as well as the carbon fiber brake pads. Yeah it's tough to invest in the opposite direction of what you want but once you feel these out, you'll be glad you got them!
I think you go the z23 - which are also performance brakes as well. It has the drilled & slotted rotors. I'm glad I ended up doing this - I think for what I do with my RT it's perfect.
@@RTLife oh for sure you had to! Hell, I'm nowhere near your power and I needed them! The stock brakes really aren't that good even when these bad boys were stock. I wish I could jump into some brembos or Wilwood cuz I know it'll stop like nothing then but the cost is truly unreasonable. Once you go forced air though, you may need to start budgeting for them though. At least to rotors are on point! And they will feel good stopping big blue.
years ago i put red ebc (track pads) on with new rotors. i got about 5,000 miles before everything needed replaced again. it stopped on a dime, but cost a quarter everytime i did.
@@FasterNLouder I got the Powerstop kit Z23 installed on my beemer a few days ago and notice the differnece already. Plus they look nice and getting lots of compliments already.
I upgraded my front rotors to cross drilled/slotted pieces and pads. It is like night and day. Unfortunately there are no aftermarket parts for my car. ('07 Ford Taurus SE) The good thing is that it shares most of the suspension from as far back as the '96 Taurus SHOs so all I need is order them. I wanted rear discs but if I use the SHO discs I would need new rear wheels because the offset will change and it is lowered. Life sucks. 😄😄😄
I put my powerstops on about a year ago. Pads definitely last but the kit only helps to me 75mph and down when your doing high speeds i still have issues. The charger is still to heavy they need 4 piston minimum. At least a off brand 4 piston front and rear
If you do new brakes and don't want to see the inevitable rust on the rotor hats, paint the whole rotor except for the braking surface with POR15 coating.
Please let me no if you have any brake dust problems. I purchased a different brand of pads and performance rotors and have brake dust issues. Great videos, keep up the good work
This is a great upgrade bro. Brembos just aren't worth it unless you get them from the factory. I have these pads on both the RT and the Cat, and you're gonna love the reduction in break dust too.
It kills me to bend over for any longer then 5 minutes - brutal! Shooting pains from my lower back to upper. People in the past do a good job of making a big deal about it. These brakes though were so needed hahaha - I got my moneys worth out of the stock setup
Powerstop is great! I’m running their stuff on both my cars. My Charger has the BR9 brakes, so I went with the standard coated rotors and the Z37 Top Cop pads. Used them before and liked them!
I can finally say "I did a mod before R/T Life did it" lol. Had to swap out rotors and pads on the wife's Challenger like 20k miles after getting the car because of vibration. The power stop package is definitely a good one.
Andy, got a question for you. I have an rt also. Worped two sets of factory rotors in two years. I've found out that you only get 4 or 5 slow downs over 80mph on the factory rotors and they're toast. Since you've upgraded too, I assume we share a similar experienced. So my question is: have your rotors ever worped and how is the upgrade holding up?
Turtle yeah I switch to Z26 because I went through 2 sets of rotors and pads in 2 years; the Z26 is pretty awesome! Really low dust, and I’ve slame the brake 80+ and it’s still completely fine, and I do mountain drives, hard brakes around the corner, the rotor is still good; really satisfied with it. But you have to follow the factory break in process to get the good results
How much do the new rotors mass compared to the old ones? I don't imagine it's a good idea to try to get the girl to weigh less in the brakes department. She needs them big *firm* serious rotors up front to stop a man in his tracks. I weigh every upgrade I do on the Barracuda as I'm doing everything I can to put her on a diet as long as it doesn't compromise performance. Going to be losing a LOT of weight when I get the entire front clip replaced with fiberglass. This modern sheetmetal is impressive. I'm amazed how little the hood on my '16 charger weighs. On the subject of hoods, I'm up in the air about how I should change it's color. The car is white, I want to go with a satin black. I'm leaning towards paint vs doing a wrap, I am skeptical of this newfangled vinyl wrapping... How is the wrap on your car holding up?
I run the EBC Yellowstuff brake pads on the Barracuda. They stop good but DUST, tons and tons of brakedust. Wouldn't be a problem if I were running Centerlines.
I have same set. Warped and squeak, 6 months, low milage, mostly daily commuting. Followed breakin to the letter, look good but they clunk, squeak and can feel the warp. Think I'm going EBC next time, head better things, red stuff pads.
Bro. When you can, replace those spacers for hubcentric spacers. It's for your own safety. I have 1/2 inch. They also come smaller. By the way, yesterday I installed the same setup and I am just now seeing you did the same 😎👍
Nice job on the install. Since this is a "Street Warrior" setup I have to conclude that the braking advantages are seen (will be seen) in normal street driving and won't require some aggressive driving to heat them up for best performance. Some people(mistakenly) buy too much brake that is stilted toward track days and don;t work well on the street.
My wifes 1st upgrade on her 2012 Charger RT was wheels & tires. She did 20x8.5 wheels, 245/45 R20s upfront. Then 20x10 wheels & 275/40 R20s out back! Then she did the brake upgrade almost exactly what you did! Lol, her brakes bite so fast! Anytime i gotta use her Charger her 1st question when i get back is "Did you hurt my Charger"?
I have the same setup and in 2 months the centers rusted and looks like crap now. Too lazy now to pull off the wheels and paint them but it drives me nuts since the originals did not rust like these. They do stop nicely though!
"Let's not draw attention to my little baby brakes." So damn funny. I was thinking "baby brakes" the whole way through. Bro. There are ways. I just put together a BBK for my Audi project car. I found some brembo fronts off of an S8 on fb marketplace. Came with slotted rotors, Apikol adapters, and even Yellow Stuff pads for $425. There were 3 coats of crappy paint on them, but I got them stripped down, and sanded in a couple days. For the rears I'm running with drilled and slotted rotors, and calipers off an S4 for now with an eye toward going to brembo rears later. Still, my rears will be as big as my fronts are now. I got the rear calipers for fifty bucks from a part out on marketplace. Shipping was like $20. They are prepped, disassembled, and out for powder coating as this is written. I'll have $700 in the whole she-bang when I'm done including new dust boots, and seals. Took about 4 months to find everything. You can do searches on fb marketplace by entering major cities in your region as a starting point (to keep shipping costs low) and typing in the model of your car + "Brakes." stuff will pop up that other guys have put together for upgrades. It's amazing. You never know what you will find. Happy hunting...
Hey buddy installed the breaks today so far so good compared to what I took off they are amazing and look awesome . Yesterday I did a motor mount driver side pretty easy and for the best I ordered a Transformer last night can't wait anyway hope you like your new breaks they make your car look even better good choice talk later....
Nice! Feels nice having a little extra stopping power. I still haven't really pushed it - def need to get out there & see if they make a big difference. Thank you for the update
This is a great upgrade bro and they look nice. Might think into getting something like this especially since I’m not a big youtuber and I am not getting paid. Will be needing these pretty soon.
I will suggest for anyone installing rotors to paint the hub black before putting them on. The hub part and a little of the rotor and the top edge will rust. I got a set from JEGS and after that happened I noticed that on many, many cars.
Fahd Alhasan try these Nakamoto brake rotors and pads they are good!! www.1aauto.com/dodge-chrysler-front-and-rear-premium-posi-ceramic-cross-drilled-and-slotted-performance-brake-kit/i/1apbs00189
see the heat cracks in that Rotor wow.😂I see customers come in with worse believe it or not😎Looks like a great little kit👍My daughter does Brakes she a mechanic also with me she converted that white RT we had here all the way around in one hour . But we do it all day long 😊Good job looks nice💯👍
I want to do brembo swap on my 2015 RT but not sure what year SRT8 brake setup to look for. Don't want to blow money and not get the right year to make conversion. I'm looking at a 07 SRT8 charger but to afraid to pull the trigger until I confirm the fitment.
Have you looked into the pursuit brakes? I hear it's a big upgrade - the brembo brake conversion wasn't something I wanted to do after researching. So much $$$
Did you do bedding procedure exactly as shown on the box? I' did same brakes (rotors + pads) upgrade today for R/T and done partial bedding (less stops than recommended). Should I expect any bad consequences ? Is it good to redo bedding or just to use them normally?
this might a dumb question, but when you change the rear rotors, is the car supposed to have the parking brake engaged? Im kinda confused on how that works.
Shouldn't really have to if the pads are quality. The vents and the cross drills are definitely more for cooling but the slots are there to help divert brake dust so it doesn't create a sandpaper on sandpaper situation. The drilled and slotted rotors are on average put on aggressively driven cars but if they are kept in good condition they actually should help extend the life of the pads.
20x9 front w/ 275 & 20x10 back w/ 315 - Hellcat replica rims - I also have 5mm spacers all around. You will like having a staggered look, gives it a very beefy appearance.
@@RTLife what is your offset? Up front I'd be doing 275 20x9 20mm offset. Rear would be 305 20x10.5 25mm offset. Trying to decide if spacers are needed. They work just fine on good 392. Wasnt sure if we were different.
This is what I ended up buying - pretty solid setup. Still using it. My back has been a problem for 20+ years, it's why I decided to make a living on the computer. www.powerstop.com/product/power-stop-z26-street-warrior-brake-kit/
I bought geomet carbon brakes by R1concepts and they work so good, I've had bad experiences with these brakes, they warped and wouldn't cool fast enough. Looks so much better than stock tho.
Is this upgrade compares your old worn brakes or compares new OEM R/T brakes?. I am on the fist set 155K km....... no one understand how come they are still good.
About time you got an upgrade on your brakes, but unless you're replacing the calipers you probably won't see much difference. I too wanted to go with Brembo's at first, but that would've required changing out the front spindles. Eventually I'm going to get the Baer 6-piston set for front & rear. It's about a third the cost of the Brembo's.
holy crap i just ordered the exact same brake kit was waiting for my amazon comformation thought id check out your new video and ya... ordered them like 15min ago. they will be here on the 18th or 19th any way time to unpause and finish watching haha
U have a link? I just got a 2019 Daytona 392, with 6 pistons Brambo rotors and the brake pads suck with dust and trying to keep the rims clean. I will to change them for next spring. Any links? Thank u

They are a very good upgrade because they won't bulge under pressure. The way he drives though I don't know if he's really going to need them for a while.
RT, bohemi12 raises a good question here. I think your supposed to seat these things by doing a series of stops at different speeds or something like that. Did you? Sounds like you owe us another video on that. I'll also be anxiously awaiting another video on your opinion of the break upgrade after you've used them a bit. Thank you.
Is that Monte Carlo the supercharged 3.8 v6? I’d be interested in modding that. After my grand national I got a Grand Prix gtp and it was a good engine. You can put a smaller pulley, upgrade the supercharger, or turbo it. They are robust engines.
"As you add power, you're gonna wanna be able to STOP!" Nah, it'll be fine.... Bonus to anyone that correctly calls that reference. Also, R/T Life, love these cars in that B5 blue. I'm actively looking for a Hellcat in this color right now...
I had those powerstop pads and rotors for a while and ended up taking them off in favor of the BR9 cop brakes. The powerstops didn't impress me at all with their initial bite, in fact sometimes it seemed downright dangerous how bad they were when cold.
I haven't had them in the cold yet - will do a follow up video to see how they perform. So far they're a nice upgrade over stock. We will see though as time moves along.
@@RTLife By cold I just meant not up to operating temp. For example, driving for miles on the highway, then having to quickly stop on an offramp. I never noticed this much if traffic on the interstate started slowing quickly, but if partway up an offramp (having coasted down to about 25mph or so) and having to stop suddenly, they were really bad. My best guess was that although the temps are similar, it takes much less time elapsed for 70mph to heat the brakes enough to work well vs 20mph (Ek=.5mv^2).
Fair warning those drilled holes, when it snows and you drive through salt, will rust like nobodys business, i went with regular slotted ones, they eat through pads like crazy but stop so much better. Wait until you get that high pitched squeal, its embarassing as heck 🤣* hynerrggghhttt!* chance the caliper bolts gaskets every 2 years or they WILL stick, as me how i know lol
Agreed, plus you must make sure you install drilled rotors (well drilled and slotted really but drilled more importantly because of the holes just by nature of perforating the blank) DIRECTIONALLY or they WILL crack, it's just a matter of time. I know it seems like a stupid comment but you have to make SURE you know what directionally means, it has less to do with the holes and slots and EVERYTHING to do with the rotor's VENTS (it should be included in the directions). I've used drilled, slotted and drilled AND slotted rotors on multiple high HP vehicles so far and I agree with this statement regarding rust. Slotted are fine enough to get rid of rainwater and offer some cooling and those calipers are not going to squeeze those brakes hard enough to build up crazy (like warping crazy) amounts of heat. They may look cool, but drilling is really unnecessary. My SRT came new with Hellcat everything (except the supercharger) including the 2 piece Brembo rotor brake package and they're just slotted. I am so heavy on my brakes that my rotors are thin after only 5500 miles and I'm still going to go with 2 piece slotted but I have a buddy at a Dodge dealership who just happens to be the Parts Dept Manager so I'll get them cheap enough. Relatively. But your mechanic didn't bleed your system OR spray your rotors or pads Bro?!
My slotted didnt care whichever directoon they went, i went with the lower portion of the slot facing forward to keep resistance down still stops on a dime, im going through my second set of pads in a year cause the damn gaskets for the guide pins collapsed under the heat and stick now xS
Should have painted the calipers while they were off. Just painted mine and the center caps of the rotors. Ive been eyeballing these for a break upgrade though. Takes alot to stop when your flying lol
Which powerstop Z26 to be exact? As I have a dodge charger 5.7 as well . However trying to purchase the correct one as it shows online powerstop kit extreme K 6704 26 ?

Hey R/T Life if I were to put drilled and slotted rotors only on the front wheels and keep the stock on on the rear, would that be a really bad idea or it wouldn't effect much??
I got power stops on my truck i dont really like them they dont have that bite when i step on the peddle and they smell like burning clucth when i go down a hill They dont make alot of break dust tho

Damn man that's kind of scary! Having braking problems is never a good thing. This setup def is a big improvement over the stock.

I Got an rt and worped two sets of factory rotors in two years. I completely agree with the cars weight and itty bitty breaks being crazy af.
Very glad I did and I'm sure you will be too👍🏽
These RT's need better brakes from factory but I think this will do the trick nicely. I will put them to the test soon though. Thanks man!
I noticed her didn’t spray the rotors down with break cleaner or something. That’s a must when installing new ones. It removes the crap that on them when shipped to protect them
I agree 💯! Also noticed he didn't lube the pads sliding surface, just installed the new hardware? Maybe he needs a new helper? lol
Jay Patrick Sei you right I didn’t catch that at first. He dam sure didn’t. This install reminds me of the first couple sets of brakes I did. Lol when I didn’t know how to FULLY do them 100% correct.
@@jasonjackson329 ya maybe back 20years when I first got my ASE cert. Lol
That's a great price for the upgrade you got - nicely done!
Do the ceramic pads make any high pitch noise upon braking or are they relatively quiet?
Not at all, very quite!!
Didn't realize you did this already....Definitely worth it, love my brakes now!
oh man these were a big upgrade over the stock setup I had. Very happy!!!
Awesome video brother. I Changed the Front brake pads on the Widebody Challenger With the Power Stop Extreme pads because of break dust. Makes all the difference and still performs great too.
Thank you - yah these pads are pretty damn solid. I'm glad I ended up giving this a try.
I have heard of cars that can stop on a dime & give you 9 cents change, but never cost me! Lol that was a good way to describe your situation!
It's always a trade off. Same with tires.
I was looking into EBC as well, I heard good things. This was def a penny pinching move, but it is a solid upgrade.
I just put the z26 on my rt about a month ago. Love them so far and e-coating is holding up
Nice, good to hear positive feedback. I'm glad I ended up going this route - we will how they hold up! Thank you
How they holding up
I used Detroit Axle drilled and slotted rotors all the way around. $150-great product, too.
How about pads? That's pretty nice price for all 4 rotors
Yup, came with pads, too.
Id take powerpoint over Detroit in a heartbeat
@@josephmgomez3921 Can still save money getting the Detroit kit and upgrading the pads
@@FasterNLouder I got the Powerstop kit Z23 installed on my beemer a few days ago and notice the differnece already. Plus they look nice and getting lots of compliments already.
Nice I did the same on mines few months ago... and got the mopar covers looks great and stops great too
So far I'm very impressed with this setup. I will have a full review on it soon
Life sucks. 😄😄😄
BR9 upgrade is well worth it next time you need a brake job. I did BR9 in front and BR8 in back. Ordered everything right from Rock Auto.
I put this same kit on both my rams. Bit more grabby than stock. Good product.
I put my powerstops on about a year ago. Pads definitely last but the kit only helps to me 75mph and down when your doing high speeds i still have issues. The charger is still to heavy they need 4 piston minimum. At least a off brand 4 piston front and rear
I still haven't pushed it - going to test them out soon. I will make sure to give them a try at higher speeds. Thank you for the heads up
@@RTLife not a problem, let us know your results. If your good at higher speeds then it may just be me and possibly a caliper issues
If you do new brakes and don't want to see the inevitable rust on the rotor hats, paint the whole rotor except for the braking surface with POR15 coating.
Please let me no if you have any brake dust problems. I purchased a different brand of pads and performance rotors and have brake dust issues. Great videos, keep up the good work
Will do - I want to drive it a around a little while before doing a review video. I will make sure to discuss the brake dust topic.
Dear God man those front brakes are toast😳😳😳😳
I know! Def got my money's worth lol
You could always do what I did. The Detroit axle/1A auto brakes are CHEAP and they’ve been doing the job for me
Challenger they are called Nakamoto Performance Brakes
This is a great upgrade bro. Brembos just aren't worth it unless you get them from the factory. I have these pads on both the RT and the Cat, and you're gonna love the reduction in break dust too.
That's what I was thinking - for what I do with my RT I thought this would be the best direction. Thank you
Used powerstops on the 2009 Charger SXT best upgrade for the money. I'll be upgrading my 2018 RT to a full set of powerstops next year.
I did the warrior z26 package with the red calipers last weekend. Looks really good
I feel you on the back problems bro! I visit the chiropractor often to help loosen me up. Bout time on them breaks bro! Lol Much needed. Great vid!
Those Calliper brackets Create extra heat in the rotors, and they are non to warp rotors pre maturely
I can finally say "I did a mod before R/T Life did it" lol. Had to swap out rotors and pads on the wife's Challenger like 20k miles after getting the car because of vibration. The power stop package is definitely a good one.
I agree
have it on my RT too! absolutely love it, really quiet breaks
Turtle also the Z26 has been on my car for over a year now, still holding up great
Thanks for the reply. Much appreciated. Z26, here I come!
Turtle good luck! Hope you like it
How much do the new rotors mass compared to the old ones?
How is the wrap on your car holding up?
i had those on my ss sedan, the rotors warped in a few months. ive had good results from EBC
If they do I will def give people a heads up on it. I've heard good things about EBC
By the way, yesterday I installed the same setup and I am just now seeing you did the same 😎👍
Yah I need to with hub centric - I got these & kind of just forgot about them lol.
I had these on my last Charger. I did notice a difference.
I will really do some braking to test it, but so far I'm happy I ended up giving these a try.
I bet you notice a big difference in stopping now! Looks good.
Yah there is def a difference! I have to do some higher speed braking but so far I'm very happy I went in this direction.
Oh man that would drive me nuts - we will see if it happens to me. They do stop pretty nicely.
I just put drilled/slotted from R1 concepts on my RAM and they are killer. I'm definitely getting them for my Challenger too, $415/set including pads.
Yah that's basically what I paid as well ($400). Not a bad deal at all.
@@RTLife Poweroint for the win....the only thing that sux is the bedding proccess after...that 40 to 10 and 30 to 5 or whatever...lol
Will be needing these pretty soon.
dude I was thinking the same. I just can't afford the expensive route at this moment. This is all I need for what I do - we will see how it plays out.
R/T Life solid upgrade brother hey bro stay tuned got some good stuff coming soon too.
Kudos for Powerstop! Great choice!
Glad I ended up giving this a shot. So far so good. Thank you
I will suggest for anyone installing rotors to paint the hub black before putting them on.
The hub part and a little of the rotor and the top edge will rust.
I got a set from JEGS and after that happened I noticed that on many, many cars.
Im not worried about the rest since I live in Cali

Are the holes in the rotors supposed to be going the opposite way towards the back of the car ? Because I put mine on going the other direction
So much $$$
@@RTLife I have not, but I found a swap package from a 2007 SRT8 for $900. Just have to make sure it will work for my 2015 RT Road and Track.
power stop was my choice too, plan on doing the same upgrade sooner or later
So far no complaints here.
I wonder if you'll need to replace pads more often because of the compound and the aggressive rotors
Vultite
Stands to reason 😎
Shouldn't really have to if the pads are quality. The vents and the cross drills are definitely more for cooling but the slots are there to help divert brake dust so it doesn't create a sandpaper on sandpaper situation. The drilled and slotted rotors are on average put on aggressively driven cars but if they are kept in good condition they actually should help extend the life of the pads.
Off topic but what is your wheel set up? I'm thinking about staggering with some 10.5, 305, and 25 offset on the rears. Only worry is rub and poke.
Hey bud where did you go about ordering these ? I feel you on the back problems! We can only go one day at a time brother

I bought geomet carbon brakes by R1concepts and they work so good, I've had bad experiences with these brakes, they warped and wouldn't cool fast enough. Looks so much better than stock tho.
No warp on mine....you did something wrong perhaps the bedding after the installation.
I want to know if they are vibrating at high speed stops like the original brakes?
What is your current opinion of the kit? I have a 17 Ram that I will have to do brake pads replacement soon.
I think it's a big upgrade over stock - still have mine on & have no complaints
@@RTLife thanks for the reply. Keep the good work up.
Damn the front brake calipers look like the rears on my GT. That boat needs bigger breaks.

They’re a pretty damn good upgrade - I’m really happy I gave this a try. Next time try the z26 - can’t beat the price.
Thank you.
The ONLY difference between the z23 and z26 are the metal shims-thats it! Not worth the price difference.

200 Brembo brake bracket made custom my tony, at More power performance in Hamilton Ontario Canada.
@@RTLife Yes, better than stock for sure
Is the Z26 upgrade good for a track day Challenger, or should I spend the $ to upgrade to big brakes?
I love these brakes - they were a big upgrade over stock. not sure though if they're enough for track use with higher HP
You've probably said this in another cideo, but what wheels are those? And they look like 20's?
20x9 front w/ 275 & 20x10 back w/ 315 - Hellcat replica rims
Fair warning those drilled holes, when it snows and you drive through salt, will rust like nobodys business, i went with regular slotted ones, they eat through pads like crazy but stop so much better. Wait until you get that high pitched squeal, its embarassing as heck 🤣* hynerrggghhttt!* chance the caliper bolts gaskets every 2 years or they WILL stick, as me how i know lol
We will see - going to have a follow up video at some point. I appreciate the heads up though.
Does it break at least? Looks good tho
Hey R/T life I also have a RT but mine is a 2019 how do I find out the information as to which power stop extreme breaks & rotors fit my car????
these will fit your brake setup
@@RTLife thanks
surprised how small the calipers are. whats it weigh like upwards of 4K
Red or blue plasti-dip on the calipers would’ve been perfect while the rotors were off
That stuff would melt off. G2 Caliper Paint is probably the best stuff you can get.
Mine are dark blue on my light silver beemer
Should have painted the calipers while they were off. Just painted mine and the center caps of the rotors. Ive been eyeballing these for a break upgrade though. Takes alot to stop when your flying lol
Do you still to this day have this setup and if so how have they held up
Which powerstop Z26 to be exact?
As I have a dodge charger 5.7 as well . However trying to purchase the correct one as it shows online powerstop kit extreme K 6704 26 ?
this is what I got

Hey R/T Life if I were to put drilled and slotted rotors only on the front wheels and keep the stock on on the rear, would that be a really bad idea or it wouldn't effect much??
I would do all of them - I think you would be fine doing the front but I would upgrade all at once.
I got power stops on my truck i dont really like them they dont have that bite when i step on the peddle and they smell like burning clucth when i go down a hill They dont make alot of break dust tho
xXcashXx3 what kinda truck do you have?
@@mrwright9553 2001 silverado 1500

So theses break pads fit your original break calipers off do I need to change them? I own the same car as you
Yes - I only changed pads & rotors
@@RTLife great thanks... the stock breaks suck
Powerstop is always a nice upgrade 👍🏽
I'm glad I ended up going this direction. I think this is fine for what it is that I do with my RT
Where did you buy the brake and rotors kit
right on their website.
