Let us not forget that Molly has several things going for her
    - She may legally be a Weasley, but was born as a Prewett, a powerful line of pure-bloods
    - Both of Molly's brothers were part of the original order of the Phoenix
    - As seen in Book/Movie 2, Molly is quite literally using magic at all hours of the day, every day, to maintain her busy household, so even back then, several years before voldemort's return, she was an extremely adept magic user

my biggest disappointment in the movies was they didn't make this battle bigger. There were several other places in this movie they could have cut down to make this battle bigger to match the spirit of the book description.

@@mrpenn4613I know. In the book, it was an intense duel that made that made everyone stop and watch. And Molly’s pure anger and grief made her so terrifying, Bellatrix had to take the duel seriously.

It fits Molly, she used what was probably a household kitchen dehydration spell. Could have been messier, imagine if she had used the spell used to pluck, bleed ,eviscerate, skin and de-bone a chicken. Molly probably has a plethora of household spells that would be devastating if cast on a person and with raising seven kids she probably uses them so often and for so many years they are second nature to her.

This is where I felt the movies really faltered compared to the books. In the books, everyone still thought Harry was dead at this point. When Molly destroys Lestrange, Voldemort turns on her to destroy her and it is only then that Harry reveals himself. And Harry's speech to Voldemort was one of the best of the entire series.... revealing to Voldemort that Snape was never "his" and was working against him. Incredible moment.

I always thought the switch to this scene was abrupt and lacking. In the book, Voldemort was dueling THREE wizards at the same time while Lestrange was dueling three of the students and Voldemort turned his attention to Molly after Lestrange was killed. Was really looking forward to seeing the 3 on 1 duels but it was not adapted into the film.

I couldn't agree more. I finally read the whole series late last year and I was annoyed with a lot of the changes, but this one was one of the most notable. I mean, what happened afterward? Did Harry just walk into the room alone or something and that signaled the end? This was poorly handled.

If you actually paid attention, Avada is a green spell every time its used, and its about the intent behind it, not just the words. So when we see Bellatrix launch that "supposedly avada" at Ginny, its actually shown as a blue spell, so its not Avada at all, and thus she was able to block it with protego. However when we see Molly step up and fire a volley of spell, they're all AK's signature green and Bellatrix expected this so shes able to just deflect it, but what she didnt expect was the dessication spell which molly likely used on a daily basis to help clean the house. This wasnt a spell that had any combat viability and as such no counterspell, til now...

@@LetsPlayArcanium Not only that, she's familiar enough with the AK's wand movement to cast it *silently,* OR just whisper it. Though I like the former option, it would've done a lot to make it seem like an actual war if the *'Good Guys'* were also flinging around Unforgiveables like candy.

In the books, after Cedric dies, Harry is sent to the hospital with Mrs. Weasley and Bill, who had been invited in his family's place to watch him compete in the tournament. In that moment, when he's alone and scared, Molly Weasley wraps him in her arms and hugs him. Harry says it's the closest he felt to being held by a mother, and finally allows himself to cry.
It is one of my absolute favorite scenes from the series, and a reason why Mrs. Weasley is one of my all-time favorite characters.

Something that I havent seen in the comment section too much is the reactions and narrative the actresses were telling. Molly starts angry but moves to fear as her advance is stopped by Bellatrix. Bellatrix starts cocky but becomes serious for a moment during Molly’s advance. As she notices Molly displaying fear, she assumes she’s won already and reverts back to being cocky, which provides the opening for Molly’s winning advance after she resolves herself. While I know everyone gets on this “Molly is so powerful” hype during this scene, the actresses and direction do an amazing job of telling a far deeper narrative than what is discussed. Really cool little scene 🎬

Wizards and witches of Hogwarts are taught non-verbal magic in their 6th year, and most of the magical community of the UK ends up going through Hogwarts. Non-verbal magic isn't really impressive, since most of the adults in the films are shown to use non-verbal magic unless they are trying to teach students. Wandless magic is much more impressive, as most wizards and witches are shown to still be dependent on them well into their adult lives (though they do provide a safe way to channel magic). As far as I remember, only three magic-users are shown to use wandless magic in the films; Voldemort, Dumbledore, and that random dude in the Leaky Cauldron using his finger to guide a spoon to stir his drink as he reads a book in Prisoner of Azkaban.
