Woke up to watch your beautiful faces this morning! I like to call episodes like these “special” because what you’re doing is learning about a very important piece of history, even when it’s tough to take in. Gosh, it’s so valuable to the entire family and to get to see it all in person is truly remarkable. Wow! Proud of you guys!
Wow!! You leave me with years for a moment there with the Hector Peterson narration. Ive listened to many vloggers narrating about H. Peterson. Ive been to the memorial site but never has anyone maoe me so emotional and drop a tear like you did. Thank you.
Thank you so much for this comment 🙏 it was a difficult history for us to learn about but we are grateful for the knowledge. Thank you for appreciating they way we delivered it 🫶
Yayy!! I am so happy that you are visiting our beautiful country❤ As a white, Afrikaans South African born in 2007 (13 years after the end of Apartheid) this was interesting and sickening to watch at the same time. South Africa's history is as rich as it is tragic. Oud country definitely still needs a lot of work to do to get to what Nelson Mandela envisioned in 1994, but I am proud of how far we as a people and a nation have come. You really captured a tragic yet vital part of our history very well. It's a shame you just missed the rugby world cup win celebrations, now THAT would have been some experience😅 Are you planning on visiting Pretoria by any chance? Anyways, enjoy the rest of the trip!
That was beautifully said. We fell in love with South Africa, tragic history and all. Our next vlog will be the first of two episodes in Cape Town, then Winelands, Phinda and Ngala. Loved every minute of it 🫶
Hey guys beautiful video I'm just here to show love as a resident from soweto. This place is beautiful and has a lot of cultural significance and diversity it's just too bad that we the residence are not so vocal about the beauty we have within our own area. ❤
I am deeply touched by your tribute to the dark ages of South Africa. I'm from San Francisco, CA and I thought our history during the slavery years were bad enough. Again, your travels keep opening the eyes of the ignorant masses like me. I do wish to know about your appartment hunt in the Philippines. How'd that go?
Thank you for watching from San Francisco 🙏 and thank you for seeing the depths of our experiences. It’s important to learn everything, not just the happy parts. We have been posting about our apartment journey on our other channel @livethephilippines we hope you follow us there too 😊
❤ im here for the little kids. They are so exciting and amazing. Good food tasters these ones. I love kids. Welcome to our sunny South Africa. The heat must compel you to go down to the coastal lands of our country. 🎉
You really did well capturing some of the unique Soweto culture and history... one of your most moving and fullest episodes for sure. And right on for Phil not wanting to bungee jump his family, that's a sensible caring dad for sure... I personally would never do it, either... it's basically a big elastic band isn't it?
We are grateful for the education. We had not heard that part of South Africa’s history until we visited. Phil is Mr Safety 😆🫶 Thanks for watching and happy Thanksgiving 🦃
Enjoying your content from Pretoria SA on my phone in a shack, on a rainy night without electricity and its wet inside the room but im still happy because im saving to relocate to Asia soon. Please help me settle my University tuition so i can graduate then leave
lol Phil "why do you encourage this?" oh and Brooklyn's faces when Erin was doing the monologue about going to trampoline park. too funny! Have fun and be safe ABC fam
Those dancers are Batswana Setswana is one of the official language as we have 12 official languages including sign language. Thank you for sharing with the world about our beautiful Country❤❤😂❤
When I was in College, One of my Professors said that Nelson Mandela is "HIS" Second or Third Greatest Person who ever Walked on Earth. His List of The Greatest was: 1. Jesus 2-3. Nelson Mandela/Albert Einstein The Thing about Nelson Mandela is that the rest of Humanity on Earth can RELATE to what he fought for.
This channel is giving us nat geo documentary vibes but a little more fun 🤍 plus the kids bring color to the videos. I shared this channel to my fam and friends. They love your videos as well.
Awesome! Thank you so much!! Such a huge compliment, makes our hearts full and motivated to keep improving our content. Can’t wait to share the safari vids!
love this type of content. i am a history geek 😅 i've never been to the continent but have made some african friends during my university years. have you tried goat stew yet?
husband speaking age 80 - checking in from Cebu about 7:30 am on the 22nd. this was quite a day, so much history that we don't hear about or - sadly - even care about what happens outside our neighborhood. So sad about the hundreds of children being killed. ( i wonder if any of the police even care about what they did ) Jiggly food is a " no go " and I would bring my own flatware, no hand food for me. " unless a chicken leg " Did you see any safety rope near the rock climb on the tower? When your kids get back to regular in person schools, and they have to do any reports - what a treasure trove they have to call on.
It was heartbreaking to hear about the kids. But another thing that’s beneficial about travel is being exposed to stories and history that we might miss just sitting at home. There wasn’t a safety net. We didn’t let the kids use it. The kids are actually in online school. And they do have opportunities to share their experiences and get extra credit. 👍🏻
We loved it actually! Could have spent even more time there. Every single person we met was wonderful. There is so much fascinating history. We stayed in an area called Melrose Arch, it was gated and very very safe.
It's like any city in the world, there are safe areas and dangerous areas, you just have to know where to go and which places to avoid and you should be fine, generally the wealthier parts of the city such as Sandton,Waterfall,Melrose Arch,Rosebank etc are the safest
@@erikpalencia5594 Well I guess they were at the wrong place at the wrong time, doesn't mean it's gonna happen to you, especially in wealthy areas. And according to stats carjackings in the US have risen by 33.5% this year ,in contrast to Gauteng(where Johannesburg is located),which has experienced a 12.1% decrease in carjackings,I'd be more worried about getting jacked over there if I was you.
Still dangerous and unsafe. My uber drivers had weapons on them. Its so sad because its a beautiful country and the food is so good especially the malva pudding and also their wines
Colt's obviously a very curious boy, but we feel like he gets better and better with observing wildlife instead of having to handle it. Nevertheless, he may have tried to touch a penguin, but certainly wasn't able to 😄

Thank you. 😊 so happy you liked it.
Glad you took a day off and went to trampoline park. I’m your biggest fan when it comes to your IG stories! I love watching them! They’re so good!👏👏
Awww coming from the Instagram 👸 Thanks, bestie!
Gold Reef City is one of the funnest places to be in South Africa because there are a bunch of roller coasters
Sounds so fun! 🤩
Congratulations on reaching 200 subs to one of my favorite families in the world!

Beautifully said. This trip has inspired me to keep learning more about him.
I love your interest in my country. The historical event/period of 1976 as referenced by the narration at 1:28 needs radical revisiting.
We’d love to hear any corrections.
Great video,m as always. When will you be back in Manlia ? I will be there in late Jan- early Feb next year.
Thanks! We get back to Manila late Dec 👍🏻

I don’t think we have. We love trying new food with a heavy dose of history. 😊
S.A is not your typical African country, for you to get goat meat it will be a mission.its not available in any butchery.
I see this so often. Foreigners are drivers for tours in South Africa. What are my people doing that we can't get a drivers license and do tours 😢
Our guide and driver were locals
Forget the rock climbing!. I wouldn’t want to climb that ladder that takes you to the beginning of the rock climbing.😂
We skipped it :)

I know people from South Africa that have been held up at gun point and have been carjacked. Not normal in the USA
