  • And the best problem solver amp I have heard. (8 watts)
    The Audio Note Meishu Tonmeister which comes in these specific models:

    Meishu Line Tonmeister (basic)
    Meishu Line Silver Tonmeister (middle model)
    Meishu Line Silver Signature Tonmeister (the best one)
    Meishu Phono Tonmeister (the specific one being reviewed)
    Meishu Phono Silver Tonmeister
    Meishu Phono Silver Signature Tonmeister (my most favourite amp ever)
    The 2 basic Meishu Tonmeister models with and without PHONO, is some of the very best value I have experienced on the market in the top audio class.
    FYI, the 2 silver models with and without PHONO feels more like 12 and 20 watts class-a compared to the standard of the triode market, in the usual 2-10 watt range. (IMO)
    If I was starting all over again, I would most likely secure this amp here before I did anything with my audio system:
    Meishu Phono Tonmeister (to save a lot of money on all the rest of the system, and make everything a lot easier)

    I found your channel yesterday. I've binge watched several videos. I like the information you provide. Very useful info with a different perspective. I particularly like the audio note stuff as i've had my eye on that brand since i first starting looking into hifi a few years ago. I currently don't have the space or liberty to use loudspeakers. That is 100% my preference but for now, i have to look to flagship headphones to do my listening. In your opinion, is it pointless to obtain an audio note cdt two + dac 3.1x balanced and couple them with a headphone amplifier? seems like a nasty bottleneck but i'm nowhere as experienced. There are some pretty good headphone amps out there from what ive seen. I had my eye on a Trafomatic primavera headphone amp.. i think it is approx $10k. Kinda thinking that moeny can go towards an audio note amp but by the time i'm able to enjoy loudspeakers will be years from now. Thought maybe id just use a cheaper headphone amp for the time being so i don't spend too much money on the headphone side of things. thoughts?

    have you tried preamp m3+quest monoblocks ? these are also level3 but they are separates(separate power supplies) and supposed to be superior to their integrated 300B siblings(meishu). what do you think about separates vs integrated amps in general?

    • @RealHIFIHelp
      @RealHIFIHelp  3 года назад +1

      I only had very little experience with the Quest and Conquest from audio note, and I only tried their lowest model versions not the silver versions. Yes they were good in many ways and a good steal for the price. A bit simple for me/safe, but I guess that trying the bigger versions of them would have made me a lot more happy/impressed.
      Yes I tried them with some m3 version, m3 is a lovely preamp. I felt that the Tonmeister meishu phono was a bit more pure/integrated, and that the 2 silver versions were a lot more fine/intimate/deeper in sound and a lot more evolved. Yes on a normal heavy speaker I think without a doubt that you are right, that the m3+quest top model would be a lot better than the standard Tonmeister meishu model.
      I feel that the mono blocks do the power/grip/control better, but lag a bit behind with the signature silver. But it probably isn't a fair comparison because it is a lower level quest and conquest I heard.
      My experience is also that as soon as you introduce the lower versions of m2 and m3 to most lower - middle level AN power amps, that you get a more safe/round sound that is a bit more generalised and closer to the normal exclusive brands on the market. That usually it has to be something like a top model m3 signature phono with something like a conquest/quest silver version before it really starts getting it's freak on and becoming a lot more intimate/fine in detail/evolved.

    What would you recommend from Audio Note for a system for streaming? I know they don't sell a steamer, and I know many would say streaming is not the best, but for those of us who just want the convenience, what would a good setup be involving Audio Note for everything except the streamer? And what would be a good streamer, something that can just be bought?

    Hello from Montreal again. How’s it going? Regarding dacs, what would you recommend to replace the built in dac with my Mcintosh c2600 tube preamp? I have an Inuos streamer/ripper with the reclocker. I have since found a pair of Verity Parsifals and all is powered by a Mcintosh mc462 power amp. The dac is such a foreign component for me that I wish to understand. An aside with regard to my speakers, I have now both the Verity Fidelio and the Parsifal speaker. I’m enjoying A B ing them on my system. Really understanding the Verity sound. Take care

      Hello Again I am fine thank you.
      I recommend as a big upgrade taking the highest model holo may DAC, and if you want a better DAC then DAC audio note 2.1 signature and then an 4 DAC. Those are 3 very different levels of DAC sound. I would not recommend any normal DACs on your mcintosh gear. You Mcintosh DAC should beat most 1-3k USD DACs because it is integrated.
      You also have the front cover that you can keep on the speakers and take of. (net)
      Plus the parsifal can rotate where the bass cabinet is, so it faces forward of backwards.
      Also I made a speaker upgrade video where I mention that the Fidelio and Parsifal are some of the best candidates for tweaking on the market.
      When my own Fidelio got upgraded, it became a lot more fine/clear/free/whole in sound doing those tweaks I suggested in that video.
      What cables and powerbar/plugs do you have? And do you have a dedicated circuit breaker for your system?
      Have you also upgraded the tubes in your Mcintosh gear?

      Hi from Montreal, Playing golf and our hockey team got to the Stanley Cup final but couldn't beat Tampa Bay. Anyways thank you your reply, you have given me a lot of questions in order to enhance my system.
      Unfortunate that I live in an apartment I do not have a dedicated line, I replaced the receptacle to a Furutech type and I have to use a descent power bar to get power to the components. The power cables are all the same, I use the Zavfino 1877 Phono, a well insulated copper cable around $750 cn for 1.5m. For my speaker cables I use a Silver Sonic T-14 High Resolution each 3 m long. Of course there room for improvement regarding cables. I have not replaced my tubes on my preamp it's just two years old. I love my Verity Parsifals, they play clear and dynamics well ie rock music and the rear firing bass driver produces what is needed without it in your face. You suggested tweaking my speakers but that will come must later when I've improved the front end. I questioned you on Dacs but you got me thinking about AN. I may look into replacing the Mcintosh stuff for a AN dac and integrated amp.
      If I could find some second tear not entry lever components I would trade in my amps. Of course I would need to listen and like it. Audio Note like Verity is not in every shop! Take care.

      @@davidgill2520 Soooo special that Verity Parsifal you have. You got lucky there, and your Mcintosh gear is some of the better stuff they make, so you should be proud.
      Plus it all looks very inspiring which is rare.
      The combination of Mcintosh tube with integrated DAC and then this specific Parsifal speaker from Verity, makes it easier for you.
      Maybe one day you also want to try EAR 8l6 with the original EAR cd mk1 version from about 15 years ago. Good value. I guess you can get that used together for like 10k USD.

      David, maybe I can suggest a DAC. I have a Coincident Pure Reference Speaker setup
      and the Coincident 845 SET amp. Canadian co.
      Took RHH advice and bought a YBA amp with a view to his AN wire upgrade. Sold the 845 SET.
      RHH suggested a AN 2.1 DAC, which I could not find in SA easily.
      Lots of research led me to an early Lampizator L4... the Lampizator is a truly awesome DAC, L4 being his breakthrough product..many user reviews. Analog, liquid, effortless, unstressed yet full dynamics, timing, musicality...all there.
      Give it shot/demo if it’s difficult to lay your hands on an AN DAC

    Do you think that more expensive models like tonemister silver signature is less good on normal not that great recordings like basic model ?

    • @RealHIFIHelp
      @RealHIFIHelp  Год назад +2

      The basic model is better on more basic gear and to hide more of the faults in the music. The higher Tonmeister models simply reveal a lot more. But not too much IMO. 300b tubes censor a lot of bad stuff even at the higher levels.
      The important thing is to get a good matching speaker with it, that will make it better for worse recordings.

    You say you're thinking about quitting because you don't feel your videos are giving you anything back? I'm not sure I understand what the goal of your channel was. If you wanted to reach millions of subs I think you need to be reviewing and hyping new in-ears and bluetooth speakers.. or at least DAC's and Speakers. But your most watched videos have 6-8k views. That's pretty darn good for a very niche channel catering to high-high-end audio enthusiasts! Many channels like this only get 100-500 views.. I think you've succeeded in reaching a select group of picky and finicky audio enthusiasts who also have open minds. Maybe you were expecting too much if you thought you could change the way most people listen to music. I think your channel has been pretty successful for what it is and it also takes time to build a following 👐

    • @RealHIFIHelp

      Sweet of you to say that. I also wanted to survive
      of what my passion is money wise, instead of being in IT which I have been for the last 20 years time which is not in a good state currently. But I cannot do that without having to cheapen the quality of my message and sell my soul.
      I have a couple of videos left, and then I will maybe do a last one in I guess 1-2 years time.
      It's pretty obvious to me that I have overstayed my welcome on youtube, most channels hate me and won't even reply back and many people from the measurement communities are just sabotaging it for the really good audiophiles. The truth is, a big majority of people that are audiophiles just want free stuff or gear that is close to free and go on the path of least resistance, and then they want to treat you like garbage, because that is what happens when you provide a free service, it loses it's value.
      I just can't win on this platform, you have to be very simple/mainstream to sell an idea or people lose interest, and what they want is entertainment, not solving problems on a high level when we are looking at the overall group, not the serious audiophiles.
      And I am just tired of fighting with lower level audiophiles writing mean things to me and not even trying the stuff they are critisizing me for. I made this channel to protect the good /rare sound and to save the business so people would not lose their jobs, and for the few audiophiles that really wanted to go deep and do the hard work, and so we all could own more and buy more and have more fun. Not to make myself a slave that does things for free and gets treated badly.
      Yeah I had big expectations that were maybe unrealistic. I just expected when I poured several years of my life into a channel and made it possible for regular people to figure the whole system out for a fraction of the money, that I would at least get something out of it financially or a job or just something. Just my streamer videos alone is worth millions, but no one really cares because I am not selling a physical one box solution and overcharging people.
      The next 50 years of top streaming is in those circa 9 videos, and I cannot believe that even the audio companies would not try it, or visit my friend, or just even make it and report back.
      This whole thing has just been me against the entire world, almost like I was not supposed to be working with HIFI.
      Life just isn't fair. Apparantly the world is just not ready for my channel because it does not seek the deep truth, but only convenience in a one box solution at a low price in an entertaining visual form.
      If people find this channel, and youtube stays for maybe 30 years more and I get maybe 500k subscribers one day, then I would maybe have injected 1 billion dollars indirectly into the industry which goes to the companies and nothing to me personally. That blows my mind.
      I must have to this date set at least 1000 people up with gear, without having earned a dime, that would have saved them at least 2-10 mil dollars together as a whole at this present time and made them go much deeper. I just want to work with HIFI.
      But thanks for caring, I just have to make something else happen...

    You say that you think the Audio Note Tonmeister Meishu is one of the very best amplifiers in the world. Focussing on 300B amps, did you compare it to:
    - the Air Tight ATM-300R;
    - the Wavac EC-300B;
    - the Triode Corporation TRX-M300;
    - the Luxman MQ-300?
    Just curious.

    • @RealHIFIHelp
      @RealHIFIHelp  2 года назад +5

      Yes I compared it to them all, except Wavac, that is a recommended brand I have never been able to get my hands on.
      These 3 amps were all very good in their own way. But not nearly as pure/untainted/real as this bottom model I reviewed. Meishu also had better 3d and layering.
      But I have to admit, that the others came pretty close to this.
      But again, most of these costs a lot more, so I was kinda expecting them to beat this bottom model.
      The 2 upper Tonmeister Meishu Silver models totally destroyed the other models. And I am guessing they were around the same price.
      It made them all seem very conservative/shut in/old.
      Also the black level/depth on these 2 silver models was like 5x better.
      Power was also like 3x better on the top Meishu model, were the others were more mushy/distorted.
      The Airtight was the least favourite of mine on your list. Sounded very tame and almost analytical.
      But still a decent amp, should just be a lot cheaper IMO.
