I’ve somehow found a way to minimize fear. When you get so depressed and have severe anxiety just for no reason, well you have multiple desires to be free of it all. So you give up hope. You lose the fear of dying, and see it more of a way out. As many Addicts and alcoholics say, “A permanent solution to a temporary problem” but after so very many years, you just can’t justify going on. And believe me, losing all hope is absolute freedom. So you don’t really find yourself afraid of much. For instance, I’m far more fearful to get evicted than hit by a speeding car. It doesn’t make sense unless you’ve lived it.

Everyone in my family, including myself, suffer from anxiety and panic attacks. It's stupid and very frustrating. In just a few seconds you go from perfectly fine to crippling sickness out of the blue. For seemingly no reason at all.
Most of the women I've see in recent times would certainly get you running for the hills. They are no way attractive though, unless you are one of the Jeremy Kyle Show participant types (a UK TV show, no longer aired)
Your title is spot on,i was born with a low resting heart rate so i react to stressful/fearfull situations much differently than everyone i know, for a long time those close to me would joke that i was a psychopath all because i don't experience or react to dangerous or fearful stimulus like they do. I do most definitely feel fear i just don't show it outwardly so much which makes me great in a high stress situation cause i don't panic but its also a double edged sword as im also more inclined to seek out or subject myself to dangerous or high adrenaline predicaments, add escalating desensitization to the mix & this behavior becomes a detrimental proclivity if not kept in check,so yeah normal, healthy fear is good...it keeps you alive.
Fear of the unknown is very broad. All fear is fear of the unknown. Tension and fear come from lack of information. People fear the dark because you can't be sure if there is someone else and what that someone else is. People fear the ocean because we don't know what is lurking in the depths.
I’ve shed a tear for the fear and now it’s gone. Way too many years spending wasted time with the human in the mirror. Decided to observe a threatening situation as such, responding then with no agitated emotion since I recognize if it’s a real threat or not easier...
I lost it at "chlamydia". A worryingly specific wording, there. Is there something you should be telling us, Thoughty2? It was a harrowing night, I tell ya. I was running hard to escape the faeries that were trying to abduct me but they kept gaining on me. Just as I thought all hope was lost and they were going to get me, BAM! I was saved by a sudden meteor strike that twarted their evil plans and enabled me to make a clean getaway. Thank goodness for that!

You can't control your fears but you can logic yourself into ignoring them and proceeding with whatever you were doing that was causing the fear response.
Your point on horror films and looking over your shoulder hits home. This is not really fear. I like horrors and if it does not have that effect, it is a not a good horror film. I feel no real fear, more an apprehension, I almost want to see or encounter something, it does heighten my senses and give me an adrenaline rush but I do not feel afraid. This is a good thought prevoking vid. Thanx.
This is a pretty good video but the fear caused by anxiety can be much more than mild. My anxiety gets so bad that I have to go to the hospital and become sedated to get through it. I'll lose feeling in my limbs, my heart will race at dangerous speeds, blood pressure will be hypertensive, and it legitimately feels like you're dying. I've been hospitalized 4 times in the past month due to anxiety. Mild fear is when you walk up to a ledge and you're afraid of heights, or look over the side of a ship when you're in the ocean and fear the water, what I feel is literally like I am dying over and over again.
sometimes when I to sleep I feel something watching me i know that there is nothing but that feeling wont go away and thoughty2 just told me I should be thankful next time I have that feeling
The problem with fear in some cases that you loose your balls and instead of committing a step that require courage That is critical for your very own survival gets delayed/you get paralyzed and die as a result.
As such...likened to somebody strolling through savana. They heard a light shush in a bush behind them. One fearing for possible threat went away as soon as possible. The other one, feeling cocky tried to check the bush with a branch. The 1st scenario has a good chance he will survive whether its real or not...granted their might be some browny bricks that laid bare. 2nd scenario gives a 50/50 chance that he either satisfied his curiosity or become a processed meat.
9:46 you’re talking about borderline personality disorder there, buddy. An uncontrollable fear of abandonment which causes huge problems for them and other people in their life
This kind of explains why om so terrified of wasps, as I was stung as a child in my shin and was terrified and in pain. And I haven't been able to get over it since even if I've only been stung once more in 20 years time... I always wondered why I was still so afraid and find it so hard to control myself around wasps. As I know that very often they won't sting.

When I was about 6 or 7, I closed a MASSIVE wooden door on my finger. My nail sorta lifted a bit, and the school nurse put cotton directly on top of it. As a result, I got cotton stuck under my nails for a while (not sure how long). After that and up until I was more or less 20, I would shake, sweat and cry whenever I had to touch cotton. I don't have that reaction anymore (26 now), but I still HATE touching not only cotton balls, but also velvet and suede.

When in danger, call out for help. Be loud and demanding about it. It might stir up people's humanity, even cowards. I thought I was a coward, but a woman so cried out for help that I came to the scene to help her. Other men followed. Something in me clicked, a sense of humanity I think. Her cries for help so terrified me I couldn't do nothing. Something clicked in me. Something moved me. I was so afraid for her, that I had to do something... anything. Fear is a good thing, it can move us to do the right thing.
without fear there is no ability to be relax, because relaxation can only happen in the absence of fear. Just like the dichotomy of good and bad, they both need each other to exist.
I took psychology last semester and the little albert experiment was discussed. As well as how the majority of people dont really critically think much at all given a multiple question most go for the answer that the majority go with even if it is wrong.

I never really thought about this before but I don't experience fear, or at least not the way other people do. I do feel anxiety quite often though. It's possible that I do feel fear but my brain gets a hold on the situation so quickly that it's fleeting. It's also possible that I've just never been in a situation that required fear.
“Fear is a healthy instinct, not a sign of weakness. It is a natural self-defense mechanism that is common to felines, wolves, hyenas, and most humans. Even fruit bats know fear, and I salute them for it. If you think the world is weird now, imagine how weird it would be if wild beasts had no fear.” ― Hunter S. @@kiranbaria6092 Then what about people with sociophobia? There's a difference between that and social anxiety disorder. I mean there are phobias, and then there are disorders. But then some are similar like these two. Is social anxiety disorder worse is or better than sociophobia? Or are they practically the same thing?
I like how the only phobia I actually have is the most spoken of in this video. I hate diving into deep water. I've gotten used to it, going with a small boat every summer to a 25 meter dark spot on a lake, filled with a lot of sea life on the bottom and with a bunch of fish. It was frightening 3-4 years ago. Now it's a bit better. I can freely swim around and not be tantalized by a bad feeling. Although whenever I dive closer to the bottom, I get the fear again, as if some kind of monster will surround me and start to tear me to peaces and I have to swim back up immediately. I also had a phobia of heights when I was younger, but I managed to overcome it with excessive hiking somehow. I have to beat this phobia and I will finally be free of chronic fear once and for all...
This video definitely piqued my interest and made me wonder if it is in fact possible for someone to have an opposite response, so a disorder of the lack of fear or the inability to experience fear whatsoever. Of course, wouldn't you know it, there is actually a extremely rare genetic disorder called Urbach-Wiethe disease or Lipoid Proteinosis. It causes dermatological symptoms as well as neurological. It can lead to damage of the Amygdala and result in the loss of the ability to have fear. Individuals who don't have feelings of fear are actually interested in the things that would make people with fear turn and run the other way and not look back. In my opinion, it shows that almost nothing is impossible and there is usually an opposite for everything. As usual, awesome video. I thoroughly enjoy your channel and the content you create. Thank you Aaron and keep 'em coming!
u can get rid of fears learn to control them and make them ur own depends what it is. cuz i had a rlyyyyy bad fear of ghosts all my life. but now im compleatly fine cuz ive learned for it to be normal and fine... so if i hear knocking on my bed in the night or i see a black object in the corner of my eye. ive just learnd to forget it. ik it sounds stupid but i acc told it to stop whatever it was.. and it acc stopped

"fear, like seeing an attractive woman"
It's the fear of your bank accounts being empty... 😂
Most of the women I've see in recent times would certainly get you running for the hills. They are no way attractive though, unless you are one of the Jeremy Kyle Show participant types (a UK TV show, no longer aired)
The fear Casimir speaks of is just low self-esteem. You view her as being better than you so you feel inferior to her.
Women should just be friends with me 🙂
What would you do if a woman in a bloody white dress followed you at the forest.
You deserve a like just for that Skyrim reference my dear sir.

Cannot describe how much these videos are contributing towards making our quarantine better❤️ Thank you British moustache man 🙏🏻
We can actually control our fears over time, by facing them and not acting on them. It's how phobias are controlled after all.
"The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown." H. P. Lovecraft
Fear of the unknown is very broad. All fear is fear of the unknown. Tension and fear come from lack of information. People fear the dark because you can't be sure if there is someone else and what that someone else is. People fear the ocean because we don't know what is lurking in the depths.

Just as I thought all hope was lost and they were going to get me, BAM! I was saved by a sudden meteor strike that twarted their evil plans and enabled me to make a clean getaway.
Well, fear is the 'you are about to be terribly injured' emotion, so yes it is very important.

I’m afraid that I would miss the next good quality thoughty2 video. Thankfully I didn’t. As always great video Arran!

did it work or completely fuck the people up?
@@chilleddrivingchannel2167 in general it did, but the amygdala is also an important part of the brain that makes you empathize with others, which I don't think would be too good to remove. Until now, it is not an uncommon procedure

Brain: "haha, im in danger!"
If you think the world is weird now, imagine how weird it would be if wild beasts had no fear.”

What about people who have Social Anxiety Disorder? They fear social interactions and it prevents them from enjoying their life.
“like laughter, the flu, chlamydia” 😂
