For an updated Spider-Carnage, use the hands from Absolute Carnage, they are a perfect match.
Wonderful idea! I finally got him a couple weeks ago at a toy show. Haven't opened him yet, but I really wish I had thought of it while filming. Will def try it!
@@5POAFigureReviews the hands are a little bit loose, but it's still better than having none, i would get one more carnage and one more ben Reily to have spider carnage, but carnage just disappeared here in my country, we can only find him at like- 50 bucks (every 20 dollars figures get around 30-50 bucks around here) wich is a shame, because it's a beautiful combination

My first Spider-Man figure that wasn't actually my brother's, was a bootleg Ben Reilly. Both of these did a great job.
Nice! Yeah, these are very good.
I prefer Steve ditko’ squinty eyes, but the big eyes just work so well for Reilly’s design
I def prefer the smaller eyes on Peter.
Head swap the renew your vows head with retro Ben reily u will love the look

Loved it. These Spiderman figures are great. You verses figure reviews are fun and would love to see a Tigra review with the recent new figure and the one released before in the 2000’s. I like seeing the advancements in articulation and action figure technology.

I think the Absorbing Man Wave figure looks like Mark Bagley’s art while the Retro Card looks more like Dan Jurgens art on the Sensational Spider-Man title. Though he did draw the eyes a bigger to.

Yeah, I have always had a soft spot for Ben too. That 10" one I showed is particularly special to me because my dad gave it to me.

After this video, I found an older Ben Riley with all of his parts for 40.00 and I could not let him go. I cannot wait to take some pictures of him. I wish I had a Retro Ben and even more a Retro Spidey.

The only thing i liked in the old version is the big eyes, but the new version is really good
I don't like those bug eyes on the old figure
I always preferred smaller eyes for Peter, but since that's how Ben looked in the comic, it just feels wrong to me not have the big, googly ones
@@5POAFigureReviews The smaller eyes are accurate to his original Sensational Spider-Man appearance, which is the title in which this costume debuted. Also, you mention that this head is a re-use. I'm not entirely certain it is. Compare the jawlines, they do appear subtly different. But that could also be an optical illusion created by the difference in the way the webbing deco is applied to each version.
I think it is an optical illusion. I just looked pretty close at mine side-by-side and they seem apart from the weblines. Even the jaw is the same on mine. As for Ben's Sensational Spider-Man first appearance, that's an interesting fact I was not aware of. I will say based on the larger volume of the character's appearance, the larger eyes ring truer to what I personally saw and remember from the comics of the time.
@@alandoane9168 The first appearance of the costume was Sensational Spiderman #0 (Giant sized Special) by Dan Jurgens, and while the eyes are not as big as how Mark Bagley draws them, they were still pretty big (way larger than the eyes on the retro figure). Once the late Mike Wieringo took over the title, he started drawing spidey's eyes smaller, yet not as small as those on the retro figure. If anything, the retro figure is an attempt to emulate how the costume would have looked with a regular spidey mask in the cartoon series (hence the card art). Ben's spider costume only ever appeared as spider-carnage.
Bonus note: Even the previews catalog and the promotional poster (which I still have) depicted the costume with the large eyes seen in Sensational Spiderman #0

Oh cool. I'm still holding out for as close to retail as I can get. Managed to find Ben for $27 with free shipping, so I felt that was pretty much the same as $23 plus shipping.

I disagree with how you purpose price. It shouldn't be based on current prices but what they cost when originally released.
I totally get where you're coming from, and I think I could do a better job talking about the pricing of older figures as compared to how much they cost now, but for me, videos like this are to help collectors make purchasing decisions here and now. Weighing out the pros and cons of each, while it was great to get the original for so much cheaper when it came out, today it costs a lot more, so that is a factor in choosing which one is the better option for you to buy if you don't have either. I really do appreciate the feedback, though.
Idk man, the retro figure's body looks pretty similar to Dan Jurgens art for Ben. Plus he was drawn by multiple artists so his physique varies just like Peter's
Very true. I'm happy has been more prominent lately, but the Clone Saga was when I stopped reading, and I didn't start again until Slott's run. Then I stopped at Secret Wars. For me, that lanky, big-eyed Bagley Ben is forever ingrained as what that version of the character looks like. But that's just my experience with the character. Also, and I should have noted this, if Retro Spidey is your main Spidey, it might be best to have this version since they are clones.

Ben's spidey costume wasn't created by Mark Bagley at all, it was Dan Jurgens who did that particular job. And there are plenty of art examples of him with smaller eyes, John Romitta Jr for one drew him with smaller eyes. Gotta love fake fans that educate themselves with wiki entries trying to pass themselves off as knowledgeable.
I am always happy to admit when I am wrong, but you don't think maybe that's a bit harsh? I'm a human. I can get stuff wrong. It doesn't mean I don't love it and try my best. And if there is something I legit don't know anything about, I'm always upfront about that. I'm not trying to trick anyone. I'm just enjoying toys. Even so, thank you for informing me so I know better and don't perpetuate wrong info later.
