      Because they usually deserve it except in WV. Outside of WV most don not even know WVU has a FB team except in the RR years and that was about 20 years ago. Have not even come close to a B12 Championship let alone a decent National Ranking. Certainly not going to happen under NB. MEDIOCRE IS THE GOAL and sadly that is becoming a stretch.

    • @fwilliamcony28
      @fwilliamcony28 3 месяца назад

      @@pitchshot2868 The final Coaches Poll for the 2023 football season ranked WVU #25 after its 9-4 season and bowl win over UNC. That's a decent National Ranking to kick-off a new season. In addition, WVU has football fans outside of WV's 55 counties. There are more WVU fans in neighboring Greene and Fayette counties (PA) than Pitt or Penn State fans. A significant number of WVU fans live in Eastern OH along the OH River, and Garrett/Oakland counties in far Western MD, along with the DMV area around D.C. Regardless, I share your disappointment overall for the last 5 seasons since QB Will Greer graduated.

    Yes, its Friday evening after work and Ive had a couple of Couz's top shelf shots. With that being said, we NEED to beat some of these teams we wont be picked to beat. Penn St., OK State (away), Arizona (away). Yes, I know there are other tough games but you have to get those 3 to be taken as a true challenger in B12 and playoff.

  • @brianmiller1977
    @brianmiller1977 3 месяца назад +1

    Another critical factor a lot of people are overlooking is Greene was throwing the ball to 3 TRUE FRESHMEN last season... While Greene absolutely needs to learn how to put a little more touch on the short & intermediate passes, as sometimes man he just fires that thing away and freaking Randy Moss couldnt catch it, but last year was his first year as QB1. I think Greene will take massive steps forward this year. Not just because Greene himself improves but also because the players around him improve too. I think Bray & Robinson will have a much bigger role than what Carter produced last season, Taylor will improve at TE, Clement+Gallanger+Ray will take a big step forward, & J White will expand his game to also be a threat out of the backfield. Jarel Williams & Preston Fox should also improve and offer some production this year too.
    I also think DayDay, Keyshawn, Collins, or Rehmann 1 or 2 of the talented incoming freshmen WRs will be good enough to offer some production after mid season, to give them 3-6 games to find their rhythm/timing on this level. Kinda like how the 2023 WR's started to play much better after mid season. While we wont be dependent on the 2024 class as much as we were on the 2023 class as true freshmen, their speed & shiftiness are elite and good enough to produce in certain packages. At the very least offer better WR depth this year when needed, reducing WR reps a bit allowing 1st team to have fresher legs, which should allow them to win 1vs1 matchups a little easier this year.
    Look at the level of improvement between Will Grier's first and second year, Geno Smiths, Pat White's, Skylar, Clint, EVERY QB we've had for more than 1 season took massive steps forward in their second season as QB1.
    As long as this offense remains healthy, I think with all the weapons we have, people are seriously undervaluing just how dangerous this offense will be this year. As long as this OL is as good as we believe it will+can be, this should be a highly balanced & diversified offense this year, reducing predictabilities, allowing the offense to attack from any angle, any concept, any scheme, man, zone, rpo, run, pass, inside, outside, counter, stretch, bootleg, we have the talent, skillsets, & experience to deploy ANY concept we want.
    I would like to see Greene under center a bit more this year. A bit more play action, bootlegs, etc get Greene out of the pocket a little more, give him a clearer sightline downfield, and if nothing is there take the 5-20 yards with his legs, which also works very well with zone stretch concepts. Id like to see this offense kinda be similar to a Kyle Shannahan style offense. We have all the tools needed for that style of offense. This is the season when we should really see just how good of an OC Brown can be, because he has every tool a coach could want in his arsenal this season. There is not a style, scheme, or concept we couldnt run. Granted we'll naturally be better at certain things, but from a diversification perspective, I want to see conceptual creativity & schematic diversification and not just adjustments to Air Raid schemes. I know we play a tough schedule, but with all the weapons we have, even with being a balanced offense with a run bias to maintain superior ToP, there is no reason why this team shouldnt average more than 42 points a game. Last year WVU averaged 33 points per game total. 35 points for games Greene started. Even with a run first approach, this offense should average 40s per game. They'll be weeks when this offense will have to score at will, theyll be a few shootouts on our schedule, so we'll have to be able to allow the offense to win us games when the defense just cant stop our opponent. Like the OU & OkieSt games last year. Granted we were in the Okie St game until the end, but if we want to beat the better teams, we have to be able to match their fire power. I believe we can with this roster.
    I believe in this team, I believe in these players, I believe in their ability & hunger...... There are several paths for this team to make the CFP, some with a win over PSU and some with a loss against PSU, but if we end the season with no more than 2 regular season losses, with our SoS we have a shot to make it... I hope we do... All the players who stayed and didnt leave when it got tough a few years ago, I hope their dedication & loyalty are well rewarded with a magical season.

    The Sporting News listed GG as #7 QB in the Big XII earlier this week. The analyst said he ranked him just behind #6 Cam Rising because GG reminds him of a healthy Rising. The analyst stated GG is undersized at 5'10, 205 pounds but "he is fearless" with 3,900 yards and 29 TD's rushing and passing.

    • @pitchshot2868
      @pitchshot2868 3 месяца назад

      They actually ranked him higher than deserved. Should be 10 or 11. He overstated his size: more like 5’8 or 9 , 170 - 75 pounds and one decent hit he is out. Hope he stays healthy and does not get hurt but would not count those W just quite yet unless one is a unrealistic WV fan.

    People get hung up on that raw completion percentage, and I think they just can't get past it. I've been taking a closer look based on depth of attempt compared to Becht, Fafita, and Sanders particularly. (Didn't include some of the others who haven't played much due to age or injury.) Also looking at what it would take to take Greene's "problem" numbers and move them into the range with others. Hope to have the video up in a day or two.

  • @UhHuh-yr5hy

    Hard to argue that any of these three is better than Greene. I think WV needs to do a better marketing job with their high caliber players. Avery Johnson is touted so highly by the coaching staff, the media in Kansas, etc.
    But if you care about wins, you’ve got to be excited that this adds fuel to that fire burning in Garrett, that he’s going to work and ultimately perform that much better because of being slighted.
    Sanders and Rising don’t have that kind of fuel to work off of, so wouldn’t be surprised if Greene ends up with a higher PFF grade than them at the end of the year.

    GG should easily be top 3 if not top 5 on everyone's list. Everything people are high on Avery Johnson and KJ Jefferson for, GG does just as good if not better. Hands down out of all the QBs in college football, GG is who I would want to lead my team. He is fiery, exciting, and you can see how he raises up the team with his leadership. The team is elevated by GG's toughness, grit, and determination. Not to mention, the young man has ice water in his veins and doesn't crack under pressure. I think GG is one of the best 2 minute drill QBs there is. In my opinion, GG is the epitome of what a mountaineer should be through his play, and more importantly, his outstanding character as a person.

    I have fun out that in todays predictions " if" is very important.
    There is a group of qb and teams high ranked with then all say if this goes rite. If jefferson puts these numbers up this year, ucf wont do good. If rising is the same rising. If Daniels back is ok. If after teams get tape on avery with 9 new starters ksu will do good.
    Use to what the player did the year before meant somthing. Same with teams.
    Utah loses a 2 round de and will face more run attack ,but will still be elite run defense.

  • @wvufan4ever
    @wvufan4ever 3 месяца назад

    Why do we even care what sportswriters think? They are nothing but a bunch of speculators. However if we want Greene to be near the top then he must perform. It all starts with him vastly improving from last year on the short to intermediate passes. That was his weak point. If he has improved in that category significantly then there is no reason he couldn’t be a top 5 QB.
