    Great review. I bought a ‘24 RWD in skyscraper grey, one step up from the base package two weeks ago. Coming from a Tesla model 3, this BMW is SO MUCH better. Love everything about it!

    We just got our e40 M-Sport and in the first 400 miles of mixed driving it has returned between 3.8 and 4.3 mi/kWh, which is better than I expected. The lowest number was a 75 mile highway trip in constant rain and net uphill. The same route going home, without rain, was 4.2. Temps in the 60s F, moderately windy, running in Eco Pro with cruise set between 5 and 10 mph over. Driving sedately but not aggressively hypermiling.

    The problem is you are automatically given 19" wheels if you select the MSport package. There needs to be an option to retain 18" wheels for max range and best ride quality.

    • @wonderpookie
      @wonderpookie Год назад +1

      @@rogerlapin9809 Exactly - this is what I'd like to know. The old "bigger wheels means less comfort etc" line is always touted without actual comparisons. Also in the UK, you can get the MSport package and then downgrade to the 18" wheels if you prefer - at least I can as of today, on BMW's UK configurator.

    • @BogeyTheBear
      @BogeyTheBear 9 месяцев назад

      Bear in mind that the 19" wheels are 20-30mm wider than the 18" wheels as well.

    Thanks, I think you could call those “plugs” but they are certainly not diffusers. Diffusers need to be facing the ground and are approximately horizontal, not vertical like these plugs.

    3.20 Mine only ever shows 240 miles in the US at max charge. While I have heard there is more, I'm just reporting on what I am seeing. I bought the EDrive 40 I4 at 62k USA dollars . I had the base plus Harman Kardon, Sound System Heated Seats, Tanzanite Blue, ESig, and a few other minor options I cannot recall. Overall as an owner the car is glorious. But the mileage seems to be off about 40 miles on what they claim versus what I am seeing with a brand new I4 Edrive 40. My full charge claims 240 miles. But everything thus far seems like the gold setting is around 80% which is 200 to 210 miles and quick charging gets to this quickly. Overall I LOVE MY I4. It's the best car I have ever owned! It's amazing on it's tech and performance.

    • @mh0Ang95
      @mh0Ang95 Год назад +2

      How fast are you typically driving? Anything over 70-75 mph in EV's will start to drastically reduce range. Also 300+ are typically in the normal or eco mode. Regardless, many reviewers and people are seeing the i4 go above and beyond its estimates which is nice considering lots of other EVs underperform the estimate

    • @MGReviewsBlog
      @MGReviewsBlog  Год назад

      The EV driving range varies on a lot of variables. Do you drive mostly on highways or in city traffic? is the ambient temperature low or near freezing? Are you using climate control often? etc. all of these are factors to EV range. As well, BMW can provide over the air updates that can impact the range so perhaps in time they'll send out an update that could improve your i4's range.
      Congratulations btw on your purchase!

    • @BrettMorin
      @BrettMorin Год назад +2

      @@MGReviewsBlog Thanks! Yeah still learning and I just am seeing when I charge the car completely to 100% charge it says 240 miles. I was in Sport mode though and only drove a few places and then home. Biggest gripe is not the car, it's amazing! I just have had a hard time with the Electrify America near me actually working. But hey 240 miles is plenty of range for me for the most part unless I'm doing a big trip.

    • @BrettMorin
      @BrettMorin Год назад

      @@mh0Ang95 I don't know much about EVs as this is my first. It seems regardless of my driving if I am in Sport, Comfort, or Eco or drive with no heating and light. The car gravitates towards losing the first 10% of charge very fast, then okay after then goes very slow losing a charge after 80%. I'm just saying what I am seeing but have only had the car for a little over a week now and am playing with it. So far I haven't noticed drastic battery loss from heating and such or driving habits. Which is nice. Charger on regular 120 V with their adapter is faster than expected too, which is nice I went from 150 to 240 in just a little over 14 hours which I was not expecting to be that fast. I only drive around town mostly so the range is fine for me.

      @@BrettMorin Nice sounds good. I just remembered too, but if you have M50, there is a spec for 228 mi I believe, so 240 estimated at 100% range is better. Hope you continue enjoying it!

    Does BMW encounter difficulties in production? It has been ordered i4 e40 in Taiwan for 3 months, and there is no progress in on-line production. I wonder if there is any relevant information for reference?

    • @MGReviewsBlog
      @MGReviewsBlog  2 года назад

      I'm not sure if BMW had the same major production issues that other manufacturers had. I know that the iX was briefly recalled for faulty batteries but BMW caught it early on in the production and I think it's resolved now.

      This is a press vehicle from BMW Canada. It is shared between the automotive journalists here in Vancouver. It belongs to BMW. A friend of mine put a deposit down for one and he told me that the dealership told him it would be roughly that long for the car to arrive. But all manufacturers are facing long delays at the moment, not just BMW.

    I'm in the queue at my (US) dealer for a pre-order of an eDrive 40 and unfortunately due to high demand, I'm more likely to be taking delivery of a 2023 model instead of a 2022. The real shame is that apparently BMW have taken away the Advance Driver Assistance and Parking packages from the eDrive 40. For me, unless these options are reinstated, I will not be accepting my delivery. The thing is that for a car that claims to be technically advanced, not to have 360 view cameras or adaptive cruise control is ridiculous and will lose BMW customers in this price range. The M50 which does have those features has a lower range and worse handling, so customers will switch to another brand instead.

    • @MGReviewsBlog
      @MGReviewsBlog  2 года назад +2

      That's the problem with modern luxury vehicles, not just BMW. I recently drove a $100,000 Jaguar F-Type (no video review unfortunately) and it didn't have something as simple as keyless entry or blind spot sensors. Those were optional extras. As for BMW removing the options that you wanted from the i4 40, it's always a decision of the marketing & accounting departments. Maximize profits and reduce costs. I guess not enough people were ordering the e40 with those options?

    • @ChristopherJewell_me
      @ChristopherJewell_me 2 года назад +1

      @@MGReviewsBlog more likely that BMW want more M50 orders and perhaps these highly desirable features serve to offset the M50's comparably poor handling and range. They are trying to better differentiate the two models for 2023, I suppose, given that the 2022 eDrive 40 when fully loaded was too highly competitive with the M50.
      The other troubling aspect of this is that no one really knows if these packages will be available again on the eDrive 40. Some of the forums say November but my dealer has no clue.
      Meantime I've just seen a video with the only model of the Hyundai Ioniq 6 in Europe. The reviewer was not allowed to drive the car as it is preproduction but wow it looks stunning!

    • @MGReviewsBlog
      @MGReviewsBlog  2 года назад +1

      @@ChristopherJewell_me good point. There's also the edrive 35 coming in 2023 as well so I guess to your point, more differentiation.
      Hyundai/Kia are on a roll with their EVs. Would one of their models persuade you to change your order away from BMW?

    • @ChristopherJewell_me
      @ChristopherJewell_me 2 года назад +1

      @@MGReviewsBlog yes, the Ioniq 6 looks like it competes with the i4; depending on price, availability, features and of course handling and 'drivability' (that is: is it fun to drive?), I could see me switching from the i4 to the Ioniq 6. The I6 reviewer mentioned how much the styling has a sort of a Saab feel to it: having owned two Saabs, this rang a bell! Right now my fun car to drive is my 2011 MX-5 and so whatever EV I end up with, it will be replacing that, so I have high standards 😊

    • @Diggler569
      @Diggler569 2 года назад +1

      That's an absolute fair reason to not take delivery. If we are paying 55 to 65k for a vehicle then it should come standard with those features.
      I took delivery of an 22 i4 edrive40 last month and while I absolutely love the car and it gets tremendous range, I would have not bought it if it didn't include DAPP, heat seaters, and ambient lighting
