Me too! The Jazz is more tone diverse and a good growl to it than a Fender Precision, I feel like the Fender Precision Basses are too overrated and the Jazzes are very underrated in my opinion.
I owned a 1965 Jazz Bass that I bought in 1966. Played it in high school bands, through some college and toured with it for 2 years in a touring nightclub group playing 4-hrs per night, 5-nights per week, and 50-weeks per year. Got to know that bass and the very "fast neck" that it had. Was very excited when I was watching this video when you said the neck had the 7.25" radius, which is exactly what mine had. Then you spoiled it all and put that stupid Deep U-shape neck on it that you originally brought out in 1966. That is a terrible shape! I remember in 1966 going into the music store where I had purchased my 1966 blackface Fender Bassman amp earlier that year and seeing this new '66 on the wall with its big block markers, and white binding on the neck. Looked pretty fancy compared to my '65 Jazz. Then they took it off the wall and I played it. My first thought was that CBS had gone to a cheaper wood and had to make it that thick deep U-shape to keep it from warping. Tried to play that Archie Bell and the Drells funky little bit up on the F# octave (14th fret) on the E string. Didn't have a chance of playing it with that neck. And the runs I played down lower were just terrible. I thought, "this is worse than a Precision Bass neck!", which I already abhored. Why oh why would you ruin a great bass by putting that 1966 deep U-shape neck on it. There is absolutely nothing fast at all about that neck. ALL the necks before (and some during) 1966 were the 60's slim C-shape neck with the 7.25" radius. You almost got it, but again you let me down. the original 60, 61, and some 62 stacked volume/tone controls had me chomping at the bit until I saw you put that deep U-shape neck on it. Huge roadblock putting that crazy thing up there. Look back in your history and you will notice that shape didn't stay around long...nobody liked it. You never really went back to the 60's slim C-shape after that and seemed stuck on deep necks but at least it wasn't that ridiculous Deep-U shape. This was an electric bass, not a standup acoustic bass. They are played differently and are supposed to have different neck shapes. After my 1965 Jazz was stolen when our house was burglarized in 1976, it took me almost 10-years to find another Jazz with the same neck profile and shape as my '65. Thank you very much to J. Serna for making the neck on my bass. I found it while working part time at a music store in 1985 when I went back to college. It is a 1982 MIA passive Jazz with maple neck, white binding on the neck, white pickups, white pickguard, and white strat-type controls. I put a white 3½"-wide leather strap on it to match. It has more sustain than my '65 did and it growls more easily when I dig in over the bridge pickup because it has the 70's era 4" spacing on the pickups. Absolutely a great bass! I've played it for 35-years now and it still looks good too. I promised to leave it to my son in my will. Very frustrating... you guys were so close and then you screwed it up!

Binding on a Jazz Bass didn’t appear until 1966. The Flea Road Worn Jazz is more period correct for 60-61 , if I may add. Kudos to Fender anyway, for FINALLY offering dots and binding on a Jazz.
