    My Mum always said her teacher at school made her and the other students make their garments as pretty on the inside as the outside. Mum always finished off her insides very nicely, but, sadly, she didn't sew too much after I grew up. I try to do the same, although I am not as proficient as you in doing so. Lovely skits - I am very much liking the leafy fabric and design. I never like to add pockets - especially side seam ones. They accentuate my hips too much! If I mad that skirt I would leave off the pockets - after your problems, I know I couldn't solve them! Thank you for sharing everything.

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  4 года назад

      You could totally leave the pockets off. Because these are patch pockets, I feel they are flatter. I definitely despise inseam pockets, they make the hips puff out for sure.

    Hola Karina, me encantaron las dos faldas porque me parecen muy modernas y a la vez siento que se pueden usar para casi cualquier ocasión, solamente haciendo un cambio de tela. Me emociona mucho el ver como desde que empesaste con tus videos cada prenda que realizas es cada día mejor y sinceramente a mi me has regresado el deseo por volver a coser y realizar mis prendas con mucho amor y entusiasmo. No me pierdo tus videos pues todos y cada uno de ellos son muy enriquecedores. Querida Karina, no te preocupes por señalar los errores de los patrones, muy por el contrario, considero que las personas que vemos tus videos debemos de estar agradecidas porque eso nos va a ayudar a fijarnos mas en las instrucciones que se nos dan para tener un criterio mas abierto con respecto a los patrones, y saber que hacer en caso de que estos tengan algun error, además este tipo de critica sana ayuda a los creadores de estos patrones a mejorar cada día más. De nuevo gracias por compartir y desde San AntonioTx, te mando un caluroso saludo y muchísimas bendiciones. p.d. espero que tu hijo se encuentre mejor.

    These makes surprised me because of the amount of volume at the hem is a bit of a departure from your usual style, but both of your Fiore skirts are gorgeous! Your solution to correcting the pockets was excellent-improving the construction, life of the garment, and security of the pockets. As always, I appreciate your honest pattern reviews and love seeing your makes. 😊

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  5 лет назад +1

      I would class these as A lined or 1/4 circle skirts and that’s as much volume I’ll wear in a skirt. For sure there’s less of these styles in my wardrobe, but it’s mainly for the fabric consuming aspects. A pencil skirt just needs 70cm 😃.

    Loved to see your makes and hear your comments on the pocket construction. As another commenter said, honest and respectful. Much appreciated. Like both your versions. Was just wondering if I need the pattern. View C looks like a regular button-up 1/2 cirkel skirt, right? Except for the pockets. And those I would probably change to have the top ankered in the waistband. I do use my pockets and as is, I would be afraid the rather thick points of the pockets will start to tear up the single thinner fabric of the skirt. Any thoughts? Do like your resulting skirts! 💕

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  5 лет назад +1

      These aren’t 1/2 circles. I’d say 1/4 circles. Much less volume. Yes, I’d anchor the top of the pocket into the waistband if you need to put things inside. I find these more decorative for sure. Thanks for watching 😊. Also you could interface the area of the skirt where the pockets will be sewn in to. For strength.

    I am about to sew view B but have lengthened it 4 inches. Can you tell me if the back is slightly longer than the front when finished? Thank you so much for your videos, they are a great help and very inspiring😊

      Yes, it is. It seems to include a bit of a full bottom adjustment so the curve at the Center back is a little lower than the front

    I am happiest when I can eek out a garment using minimum fabric and then blow the remaining fabric dust off the table, when the cutting it finished. (I exaggerate - but not by much) lol

    Hi again Karina,
    When you lengthened your skirt you added length between the two lengths. I am wanting to add 4" below the below knee length.Can I add it from below the below knee line instead of the lengthen and shorten line? Initially I thought I would use the lengthen and shorten line, but having trouble matching the side seams.

      With these shapes, I prefer to add length at the hem and just continue the angle. Adding above can distort the side seams too much and change the shape and how it hangs.

    Do you think that you can true the other side of the pocket? I have the pattern and haven't tried to true anything yet. Your makes are beautiful!

      If you do fix it would you consider adding to one of your videos. I need to true my and don't feel I can tackle it without help. Thanks!
