Love the shorts. I was going to cut down the legs of the view that you made but I will lengthen the shorts as your comfort length is mine too. Great video. I will take on board the lower waist too, I will make a toile for sure. Xx
Yes, if I could fix it I would do it. If I don’t like the fit I will fidget while wearing them which means I am less likely to wear them. So, for my first foray into this pattern: Pietra shorts, I am adjusting the rise, adjusting the inseam, and reducing the waist height, and why not go for it all…use a different piece of fabric for my actual pocket piece. Next time I make the shorts I will use flowered fabric for both the pocket piece and the side front short panel and a solid fabric for everything else. I might even try a simple stripe fabric for the pocket panel and the side front short panel and a solid everywhere else. Possibilities, possibilities … Thank you Karina for your inspiration.😀😀😀
Many thanks Karina I love the style of the Petra pants but also found them so big and had to take in so so much really appreciate your video for extra help and helpful as I felt it was me that made a big mistake
Thanks for the video!! I wouldn’t have the patience to unpick, but I have 3 kids and work full time and sewing time is scarce. I’d just call it “good enough” hehe! Love both your pairs
They both look good on you but the coral shorts look so much better... I would absolutely unpick and change the fit especially as the red trousers are so you...xx
And I thought I was the only person in the world who didn’t like adding pockets to skirts and dresses! I love your shorts and am tempted to try the pattern - with added leg length. Thank you for showing me how to do it!
I'd redo the waist and, while everything is undone, I'd redo the crotch. The red linen is lovely and so your color! It'll be worth it in the end to have pants that fit as well as the coral shorts. I never would have guessed you only went down one size for the coral shorts. They fit fabulously! Happy productive movie watching!
I’ll see what can be done with the crotch one I got them on again without the waistband. I really want to do my best to get them right. Thanks for watching 😊.
Hi Karina, great video thank you for sharing! With regards to your question whether to unpick or not, I definitely would 😀 as I love to wear clothes I make that I am very happy with; otherwise I don’t wear them.
Karina, I love the shorts! They are perfect on you, so beautiful. Pants, you made are also very smart looking, but do agree, wrong size, but you made it work. I just love your sewing construction and tips. I am learning so much from you. Thank you so much for sharing your talent, knowledge and enthusiasm. It is contagious! Just getting back into garment sewing after many years, so I am soaking up all of your ideas like a sponge!! Plan to make a shift dress, line it and sew an invisible zip... new challenges for me. Wish me luck !
I’m making these for the second time now, and came back to your channel because I remembered that you adjusted the pockets to save on main fabric. Thanks for the tip!
Lifting Pins and Needles agreed! I haven’t made the pants, yet, but just making that one change saved enough fabric for 1/2 a cami! My first pair I ended up taking a triangle wedge out of the front centre seam, and then also took about a cm along the two front seams along the pockets, to remove poochy fabric around my stomach. They first much better now. This time, I’m sizing down, so we’ll see if I still need to take the wedge out of the centre seam!
Lifting Pins and Needles I have a pretty long torso, so I really like the high waisted. I wonder if I will feel the same when I finally made the pants??
Hoooo noooo ! I would not unpick!!!! 😬😖😋. I would give it to a friend or anyone else and sew another one. I already did this way and my friend was very happy 😀
Karina, I am the type of person who wants to have things how I want it & yes, I would unpick and sew it over again. It is all about comfort! It is harder to do this when you just finish a project, in time you will know when you are ready to do it. I love the shorts...beautiful fabric & beautiful fit.
I would not fix them right away because I would want to wait until I was feeling patient and inspired to make them better. I usually don’t have the time/ inspiration to re-make my own flawed creations and just wear them with the flaws, as my sewing time is supposed to be fun and at least I learned something. I usually make muslins but I am not that good at fitting yet. I do up cycle but usually make something entirely different
I’ve made muslins for all my previous pants and didn’t this time. No muslin fabric on hand at all and also thought the fit would be forgiving due to the style. I was wrong. So the red ones turned out to be an “almost wearable muslin” 😳.
I hope this helps. I also found them extremely short for me. It’s a shame the pattern doesn’t have the option for a longer length. It can be fixed though and I hope they work for you :)
Your videos are so well done. I love pockets, but I actually use mine. Kleenex, cell phone and keys. Thank you for the video with the lovely shots of the garments on your body.
@@LiftingPinsandNeedles I do too. Just made another leather bag recently. Sometimes, I'm just taking a walk or going next door or running into a gas station. Don't want to bother with the bag.
Regarding instructions, I’m in agreement, the gray (right side) vs white (inside) and visa a versa can be so confusing! I’m so glad the shorts turned out perfect!
YES, I would! You look sew great in both. That red linen is beautiful and why not take the time to make them so you're happy? Every time you wear them, they'll bug you, so just did them and be happy. That's good to know to maybe make a practice pair of muslin to figure out the fit. Super cool and I love your vlogs. Thanks for sharing with us around the small sewing world of love. Hugs!
I agree about the muslin. I never have ugly muslin fabric and I really can’t practice on nice stuff so this time I didn’t make one. Lesson learnt (buy cheap fabric for pants muslins). Thanks for watching 😊.
I like the fit of the shorts. I saw the pants on the pattern website and was worried about the low crotch and high waist. Your adjustments were a lot simpler than mine and it worked. Thank you for showing this. I might actually buy the pattern now.
I noted the detail on the product photos too and was hoping it would be ok because my rise is longer than the standard as such. For most pants I need to lengthen the rise due to my height. Not in this case. Ah well. The seam ripper is my friend :)
It was mainly that they labeled all the letters for the different views there that had me scratching my head 😄. Other wise then it clicked once I got past all the marks on the instructions.
Hi Karina. Love the coral shorts and also love a pair of red trousers. The shorts fit best but I wouldn’t unpick the trousers, just wear a long top! Make another pair!😊
Not sure.... I think like you if I can just sit and do it while doing something else I will, and I have been doing more of that recently so that I love all the clothes in my closet.
I think investing a little more time into a project it totally worth it. Specially if mindlessly unpicking while doing something else. Thanks for watching 😊.
I am pretty tolerant of slight fit issues that would involve a lot of unpicking: I would wear them more and see how much it bugged me or whether I got used to it. Sometimes I come up with an easier solution or other modification to make instead. I find many fabrics get wrecked in the unpicking process, especially with top-stitching involved. I appreciate your review of this pattern. I think both versions look great on you! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much 😊. I really like the fabric and know the potential to achieve a great fit like the shorts. That’s why I’m willing to re do the top part. I’d be so careful with the unpicking for sure.
I have made the pants and both blouse styles, and love them. My first pair was a little big, but I took in the side and I'm fine with them. i also basted the seat and tried them on before finishing. I have since made 2 more pairs and am happy with them. I am 6 ft tall and wear a size 20, so it's hard to find something that actually fits with minor adjustments, and I emphasize minor. Overall, I'm very pleased with the patterns.
I agree. The adjustment are minor compared to others that exist (full seat, low seat, all the seats... ). When I sized down the fit was very good. With your height I’m sure the rise was perfect 👌🏻.
thank you for honest review. As for me, I will definitely pass this pattern as there are obvious construction mistakes and I do not want to pay for poorly done job.
I’m sure the block they use is for a different shape that is not mine, and also, my preference for a slightly lower rise is only mine. I know so many love the high high waist. I just don’t enjoy fabric there 😊
Hi karina. I love the fit on the shorts. The fabric for both makes are gorgeous. I would EVENTUALLY end up unpicking the pants because I wouldn’t wear them .........because if I knew how well they COULD fit (ie the shorts) I would be not likely to wear the pants. I say “eventually”, because I would have to wait for spare sewing time and the correct mood. And that may be a while in my case. When you do alter the pants.......please do show us. I would like to see a comparison.
I do these in stages. No rush. I’ll unpick in a few sessions and then I won’t “feel it”. For sure I’ll show because I’ll be using them to style other garments too. Thanks for watching 😊.
Hi Karina, I love the red linen, they go perfectly with your new top, but your right, the shorts do fit better. If it were me I would unpick, and shorten the waist. BTW those shorts are really cute.
I don’t have the giving away option available and depending on how much I love the fabric I’ll do what it takes for me to love the item. Thanks for watching 😊.
I just finished picking apart a pair of Pietra pants to design with a back zipper and darts instead of elastic. Wish me luck! I love the pattern but it's a stretch getting them past my hips because my waist is too much smaller than my hips.
Hi Karina. Love the pocket style and the shorts are beautiful. And no I probably would not alter the pants unless they were in my favorite fabric, although for you they really match your tops so ...maybe??? Happy sewing!!
Hi Karina! I have watched this video several times and, at last, I've ordered the pattern, which is on its way. I have 2 suitable fabrics - decisions, decisions ... Thanks again for your inspirational videos. Take care and keep safe.
I bought the Rome collection due to the view A pants and the Cielo top when it first came out. Your explanation for the pockets REALLY helped me understand the construction. My mind just wouldn't wrap around it. The colors for the right and wrong sides were also something I kept flip flopping on. Thank you so much. BTW, I never would have guessed you over 40!
I will unpick my pants for a better/happier fit. Pants are the one item that fit is the most important (to me) and each pair is unique . I always find unpicking faster than I imagine it will be. It is definitely worth it. I just unpicked my Palisade pants by papercut patterns today to reduce the elastic length. 😀 I know you will too😋
I love the shorts! I am going to make the wider leg pants and your review has been soooo helpful! I think you should unpick - it’s a pain but I am sure you would not wear them as often as you would otherwise 😁😁😁😁👍 and yes I would unpick .......🤨
Hi Karina. Everything looks good on you. Myself, I'm like you and would unpick to get it right and feel really right. I just unpicked a blouse to redo so that it feels as good as I imagined. JMHO.
I would wear the red pants about 3 or 4 times before deciding to reinvent them. It may talk you out of reconstruction OR make you SEW ticked that you have to redo for sanity sake. Great video.😉
Hi Karina. First, I love the fabrics you used for both the pants and the shorts. The shorts definitely fit you the best. I noticed the pants looked kinda “funny” in the crouch- there seems to be too much fabric-it was most noticeable when you were walking a bit. Would I unpick? I don’t know-probably. When I am not happy with the fit, clothes just hang in the closet! I always love your videos. Thanks for sharing your makes.
They are just too big even though I chose the size for my measurements. I have a long rise per se to begin with, im tall and this area is long on my body. The crotch was even lower before I made a small adjustment. Hence my willingness to unpick the top and hike them up 😀
What a good question! I am am having the same issue with my wearable muslin of the SEW House Seven Free Range Slacks. It is about an inch too high, and not as comfortable. The second version I made adjustments to, and are perfect. So I have been trying to decide if it is worth the time and energy to go in and change it. I like the pants a lot but want to love them. I say we just go for it so we can love them!
Love the Pietra pants pockets! The 2cm adjustment to the waist height of the shorts made a huge difference as did adding length.(way too short for my taste, also) I had a similar experience with pattern instructions recently-the right side of the fabric was white/wrong side grey. The illustration for a construction step was grey but the written instruction referred to the right side of the fabric=very confusing 😜. I would unpick the trousers-the fabric is gorgeous and special so it's worth the effort. I unpicked a dress made with fabric I loved because it had pockets somewhat like the Pietra and my arms would have needed to be 10 cm longer.🤣
I LOVE that pattern!! Thanks for showing how you lengthened the shorts; I like the same length as you. I would not fix the pants. However, if I was channeling Karina, I'd totally fix them! I think if I knew exactly how to fix fitting issues, I might do it more often.
Hi Karina, this was an excellent vlog with fantastic information regarding the fit of the pattern. As soon as I saw this pattern, I knew I wanted to make them. I love a looser fitting pant in the leg. I'm probably going to make the shorts first, and like you, I will lengthen the length. A 4" leg is VERY short! And since I am neither 25 or have model like legs, I have no business wearing a short that short! Hahaha. If it were me, I would not go to the trouble of unpicking all those seams to lower the waist on the pants. I would just sew a whole new pair LOL. But I can access fabric easier than you can most likely. But I just knew you would want to change it. Thanks again for the excellent information. It really helps! And as usual, your pants and shorts are fabulous! Red looks so good on you!
To access more linen, we have to drive for an hour and it’s not a trip we take frequently at all. Hence my willingness to unpick. I used 4” shorts in my teens when I was a tall as now, but 40 pounds less 🤣
Great to see your review. Am considering this pattern. So really helpful to hear your experiences and get such a detailed view. Thank you. About the unpicking: not sure if I would do it, but know that I should. Otherwise the pants would get lost in my closet, taking up space instead of being worn. So understand and just as much admiring you in advance for the unpicking. Lowering the waist may also help with the bulging maybe? Good luck!
My problem (and likely only me), is - in theory - I like a back elastic, but I always find the lumpy side seams bother me and rub. I am such a princess, I know. I do like the front pocket styling very much. I don't usually have problems with "crotch drop" in ready made or my own makes, but I do know it seems to be a real issue with ready made garments with spandex. People complain about bunching crotch fabric. I sympathize with the elastic issues. I have even taken pants apart before I throw them out, to salvage a good quality elastic. LOL I would rather go to all this trouble than fight with cheap quality elastic. So, You would be surprised what I would un-pick, but am happy doing it when watching a movie. I prefer the Bermuda short length myself. Always looks goo,d and is flattering for most shapes. Thanks for the video.
I’ve saved elastic from clothes before too. All of martins ripped pants get the elastic taken out. Its difficult to find nice elastic :( The back elastic bothers me a tad but then I don’t feel it anymore :)
You are so captivating to watch! I found your video because I wanted to see how others lengthened the shorts. I stupidly lengthened mine at the line above the crotch on the pattern. I'll use your method next time! Btw, never heard of red interfacing and it's AMAZING!
Great job. I I don't think I would do the adjustments on the red pants. I think it would almost take as much energy as making a second pair, which would be much better fitting, as I would adjust the crotch as well.
Noooo I could not face all that unpicking! I actually like the high rise anyway. If it was me I’d just like those pants, and use the time to make another pair that you can love!
For me unpicking is not that bad. I loathe doing it when I’ve made a mistake, but if it’s to improve my pants, it won’t pain me 😊. I do have down time too. In another phase of my life, there’s no way I’d do it.
Lovely ,neat sewing , the shorts are a perfect fit , the trousers are wearable and u can always adjust in the future maybe during the Winter months ! I am going to get this pattern although I am pretty scared at all the adjustments u did 😢. I am not at all as professional and a smart sewist as you are ! I think I will start with the shorts of course lengthening it with the 6 inches u suggested . Would you prefer to use cotton or sateen bias binding on linen pls ? Thank you 🙏 u really are a GURU of sewing 💕❤️. Keep safe dear xx
Hi. I did fix them and you can see more about this pattern in this video here. ruclips.net/video/k773G8f7zAI/видео.html Also, For binding, chose the material that is the lightest so it doesn’t add bulk inside.
Hi I am about to start these trousers I have made a muslin but I just cant make my mind up if I should take them in slightly I am not confident when it comes to altering patterns . I have gone down a size I am quite tall thick waisted but tops of my legs are quite slim so trousers never fit me well around the hip and upper thighs that’s why I don’t make many pants.I thought the red trousers looked great and I certainly wouldn’t be pulling them to pieces I think you are a great sewer and worry about being 40 I have another 28 years on that😭
Karina, I love the shorts and the only thing that I can see that would drive me nuts in the red pants would be the way the front crotch area fits. I probably wouldn't unpick the pants, but then that's just me. I have this pattern and now I'm nervous about trying it out. When I do, then for sure I'll make a test pair. Fitting pants can be such a nightmare!
Good job on the shorts and the pants. I’m tempted by the collection but I’m not sure about the boxy top or the elastic back on the trousers but you have made them suit you. If you didn’t have the voucher would you have bought the collection?
To be honest, I’d had the voucher a few days earlier and couldn’t decide. I already had two patterns I liked from them already and the rest weren’t my style. If I didn’t have the voucher I think I would have only Purchased the pants to be honest.
Love those shorts. I think you will unpick the top. They will annoy you too much. 😂😂 and that red fabric is too nice to only be happyish with them. Let's see what happens 😂
Just watching this again because I’m interested in making this pattern. I presume that the shorts have more ease than the pants. Can you tell me why? Should I overlay the shorts pattern but with the length of the pants? Do you think that would give a better fit? 🌺🥰
Shorts generally have a little more ease. If they didn’t, they’d end up looking like biker shorts when they are too close to the leg in a shorter length. I would print the different views separately. They both fit well after lowering the rise 👍🏼.
Thank you for all of your notes. I successfully add 6" to the shorts which I like. I installed the side zip and removed some (but not enough) elastic from my wearable muslin shorts. My pocket lining shows right along the seam, adding just a tiny pop of color! I will nw try them in the long version being careful to remember that the hip ease is less than in the shorts. I did wonder: there seems to be a lot of bulk around the bottom of the zipper with the pocket lining, pocket, seams and zipper tape. Any suggesstions about reducing the bulk?
Actually, I would never install a side seam zipper when there are pockets there, because of the bulk as you say. So that’s my take on that. I would keep the original design and ease at the back with the elastic. It’s not bulky and the front is flat.
So this is a really old video but I'm just looking to make these pants. Question, my waist (belly) puts me at the largest size. My hips put me in a 14. I dont see how I can alter these pants for my tummy. Should I pass on this pattern? No. I would not unpick.
Yes, I have exactly the same problem! Not sure quite sure how to approach the alterations. Luckily, I have a few metres of really cheap fabric to make toiles with.
I am planning on buying this pattern so I watched your video. Did you ever get to unpick and give the red a pants an update. I am going to size down like you did and try the shorts out of some less expensive cotton. Do you think that is a good idea?
I have them unlocked and ready to be altered. Unpicking linen took ages. Yes I’d recommend a muslin for sure. I should’ve made one and then I could’ve avoided the extra work 😀
Hi Karina. I love your videos. You explain things so clearly. This video addressed my question perfectly on how to lengthen these Pietra shorts! I've been able to finally adjust the crotch curve and rise on these pants which fit perfectly. Question- can I use this same curve and rise and trace this on a different pants pattern now that I've found one that works for me?
I’d be cautious about using the exact curve on other pants because they won’t have the same style and ease. The shape of the curve can be helpful as a reference to see if the other pant has a deeper or more shallow curve but I’d still make a muslin from any other pant.
The style of my block is very fitted and with a lower rise and no gathered waist anywhere. I can’t use it to compare to pants with other leg styles and other rise lengths. I would’ve really needed to sew a quick muslin to check but didn’t this time 😳.
Hmm, to unpick or not to unpick? They don’t look bad but,, I personally would unpick because having the shorts fit so nicely, the trouser fit would really bug me and I just wouldn’t wear them as much. Unless I had more red linen...
If I lived in N America, I would just probably buy more red linen fabric, and donate/give the made ones away...but, living in Ecuador where finding good linen is impossible, I would un- pick (& grumble all the time doing it)....because if I don't like the fit, I wouldn't wear them! The long red pants front remind me of the Sirocco front....shorts are too cute. All the tops you paired these pants with look great...I like the longer inseam, as well.
Hi Karina, I have tried to make the twist top 6911 and my head is boggled with the pattern. It’s like a jigsaw. Needless to stay it is back in the envelope
Hi Karina, I just made a toile of view B and lucky I did because they are way too high for me also. Just a question about the pockets....did you change the height of the pockets when you took 2cm from the top of the pattern pieces? I like to wear a top that covers my bottom (almost) I feel the pocket placement is too high for me as I can't see them once my top is on.
The pocket is part of the waist so I took off 2cm from there also. I don’t find the pocket high at all. With a long top, you won’t see any pocket on any pant.
WHEW...that would be a lot of unpicking!! The pants look quite nice, but as we've said before, if you're not REALLY happy with something, sometimes it's better to just make the correction or you'll never reach for them in the closet. The coral shorts are beautiful. I laugh every time I see a pattern with a 4 inch inseam. Not for this girl either!!! :)
Hello. I bead to shorten the Pietra pants 3 inches but I’m so confused. What line/lines on the PDF pattern so I use? The back leg has two shorten/lengthen lines. One towards the top and one towards the bottom which one do I use? Then, the front legs don’t even have a shorten/lengthen line. Can you help/advise me?
Do you need to shorten the legs? Or the rise? How do you know it’s 3”. Did you measure your inseam? I can’t help you with the partial information you’ve given me here.
Nice shorts! Love them. Great fabric, great length. No, too much to unpick. Start over
I already fixed them and have another video with more versions 😄
Love the shorts. I was going to cut down the legs of the view that you made but I will lengthen the shorts as your comfort length is mine too. Great video. I will take on board the lower waist too, I will make a toile for sure. Xx
Yes, if I could fix it I would do it. If I don’t like the fit I will fidget while wearing them which means I am less likely to wear them. Yes I would put on an old movie on a rainy day and fix the waistband. They are so beautiful on you. Red suits you well. Thanks for your lovely pics.
It’s all unpicked. I just have to see it again now :)
I agree - the shorts are much better in the longer length.
Many thanks Karina I love the style of the Petra pants but also found them so big and had to take in so so much really appreciate your video for extra help and helpful as I felt it was me that made a big mistake
I’m glad this was helpful :)
Such a helpful, lovely video. Thank you. I wish I had watched it prior to making my first pair.
Thank you for mentioning the difference in ease between the various views. I would have assumed they were all the same .
sooooo much excess fabric in this pattern - I was shocked when I put it on and it was sooo baggy. I'm glad I wasn't the one who made a mistake!
Thank you so much. I did fix them and make some more. You can see it here ruclips.net/video/k773G8f7zAI/видео.html
Very nice! I like then both! Higher/ lower waists are always something to get used to.
I’ve been attempting high waists for a while and just don’t like fabric there 🤷🏻♀️. For me 1” below the waist is my happy place.
And I thought I was the only person in the world who didn’t like adding pockets to skirts and dresses! I love your shorts and am tempted to try the pattern - with added leg length. Thank you for showing me how to do it!
There are quite a number of us pocket dislikers 😄. That’s the best about sewing.... I can just not sew them. Thanks for watching 😊.
I'd redo the waist and, while everything is undone, I'd redo the crotch. The red linen is lovely and so your color! It'll be worth it in the end to have pants that fit as well as the coral shorts. Hi Karina, great video thank you for sharing! With regards to your question whether to unpick or not, I definitely would 😀 as I love to wear clothes I make that I am very happy with; otherwise I don’t wear them.
Exactly the shorts I’ve been looking for with your length adjusted. Fab. Thankyou. Thankyou ❤️😘
I’m glad this helps. This length makes me more comfortable.
Karina,
I love the shorts!
Fun plans you have! I’m glad sewing has you motivated. Thanks for watching 😊.
I’m making these for the second time now, and came back to your channel because I remembered that you adjusted the pockets to save on main fabric. Thanks for the tip!
I’ll always do this now, the pocket is just too big to use main fabric on the whole thing 😄
And Sew On i sized down one size and dropped the waist. It was soooo high.
I actually have no friends sort of my size around me. I will actually make more too 😃
Karina, I am the type of person who wants to have things how I want it & yes, I would unpick and sew it over again. It is all about comfort! It is harder to do this when you just finish a project, in time you will know when you are ready to do it. I love the shorts...beautiful fabric & beautiful fit.
I unpicked then partially and will do it slowly. No rush. I agree with comfort. It makes me teach for the most comfy ones.
Really appreciate your detailed discussion! Thank you
I would not fix them right away because I would want to wait until I was feeling patient and inspired to make them better.
I was wracking my brain with how to lengthen these shorts because the inseam is so short on the pattern pieces! Thank you so much for sharing.
I keep the same items in little crossbody bags I carry at all times 😀. Thank you so much for watching.
@@LiftingPinsandNeedles I do too. Just made another leather bag recently. Sometimes, I'm just taking a walk or going next door or running into a gas station. Don't want to bother with the bag.
Love these. I wanted the pattern, but didn’t like the shorter shorts. Thank you for sharing how you fixed them.
The short shorts, they would’ve been ok in my teens, but now, I like them longer 😃
Regarding instructions, I’m in agreement, the gray (right side) vs white (inside) and visa a versa can be so confusing! I’m so glad the shorts turned out perfect!
I was scratching my head for ages 😂. I don’t usually look at instructions but these were not intuitive to me.
Amazing shorts you look fabulous a great fit
I also found the pocket construction very confusing. Once I got past that it was much easier. :)
I will make another but I love the red too much 😊
I love these pants on you Karina.
Thank you so much 😊
Not sure....
I just don’t enjoy fabric there 😊
Another brilliant set of LPAN makes. I love how the shorts turned out and the fabric is gorgeous!
You made me buy this bundle.. no unpicking for me and would worry about how the unpicking will possibly damage the linen . Sew another one in black!
I have navy linen picked out already for another 😄. Thank you so much for watching.
Love the lengthened shorts!
Hi Karina, I love the red linen, they go perfectly with your new top, but your right, the shorts do fit better. If it were me I would unpick, and shorten the waist. BTW those shorts are really cute.
Thank you so much 😊. Yes I’m extremely happy with the shorts and want to feel the same about the red ones because I really love red :)
I love the shorts and the pants, I would unpick so I could truly enjoy them or give them away and make another pair that fit perfectly.
Yeah, fabric is my fave 🤣. Maybe if they were just boring black I’d leave them lol
Hi Karina! I have watched this video several times and, at last, I've ordered the pattern, which is on its way. I have 2 suitable fabrics - decisions, decisions ... Thanks again for your inspirational videos. Take care and keep safe.
How fun! I’ve recently made another for the monthly full sew along I do on patreon. I’ll share it on the channel soon.
Thank you. I bought this collection and found the pants had too much ease, but love them once I sized down. The top pattern needs a lot of adjustment.
Yeah. Sizing down is the trick. I know that now and confirmed it with the shorts :)
I'm totally with you - I think I would unpick and make the adjustments, sometime watching TV :)
Any boring task is ok while being distracted. Suddenly it’s done :)
😀 I know you will too😋
For sure. It’s mindless and suddenly it’s done 😃. Thank you so much for watching
I love the shorts! I am going to make the wider leg pants and your review has been soooo helpful! I think you should unpick - it’s a pain but I am sure you would not wear them as often as you would otherwise 😁😁😁😁👍 and yes I would unpick .......🤨
Unpicking has begun 😃. Thanks for watching.
I like both of your makes! I will be buying this pattern
Enjoy 😉 and make a muslin first. I should have and have done so with all my previous pants. This time I skipped it and paid for it.
Beautiful work! I love your projects. You have inspired me to make linen trousers this week. 😍
Love the shorts and would maybe make another pair of the red in a size 14 as well rather than unpicking...
I don’t have any more red linen but a little scrap :(
Hi Karina. Everything looks good on you. Myself, I'm like you and would unpick to get it right and feel really right. I just unpicked a blouse to redo so that it feels as good as I imagined. JMHO.
I’m glad I’m not one of the few. It’s not the first time I dig in to make a garment better. Thanks for watching 😊.
I would wear the red pants about 3 or 4 times before deciding to reinvent them. It may talk you out of reconstruction OR make you SEW ticked that you have to redo for sanity sake. Great video.😉
Sew ticked lol. That’s funny. I’m already feeling that just by trying on for photos.
Hence my willingness to unpick the top and hike them up 😀
The shorts really suit you and look very nice.
Thank you so much 😀😀
What a good question!
Well loving them means they get worn. So fixing is ok for me :)
Really love the style of these
Thank you so much 😊
Perfect love both makes
I’ve unpicked things before and never regretted it. I really want to wear my makes a lot so it’s worth it for me. The white/grey thing is terrible 🤪.
I LOVE that pattern!! Thanks for showing how you lengthened the shorts; I like the same length as you. I would not fix the pants. However, if I was channeling Karina, I'd totally fix them! I think if I knew exactly how to fix fitting issues, I might do it more often.
I used short shorts in my teens and they’ve been getting longer as Decades pass 😃
The shorts and top look lovely on you. I would unpick the red trousers.
They are being unpicked now. A little at least :)
Yes I’d unpick whilst watching a good film x
Yup :) totally worth it.
Thank you. Very useful review
The shorts are gorgeous
Thank you so much 😊
Happy is good. I wouldn't unpick all that, they look good and only you know that it's not as perfect a fit as usual. The next pair will be spot on
Maybe if they were another color or fabric I’d leave them be 😊. Thanks for watching 😊.
Hi Karina!! Love that you show how to use minimum amount of fabric❤️🙌 fabulous pants and shorts 🎉
Thank you so much 😊. Using less makes me happy 😃
Good luck!
I’m sure the fit will be better once I fix them. I’ve the years I’ve become a tad picky on how clothes feel on 🤷🏻♀️. Thanks for watching 😊.
Hi Karina! Fantastc as always!
Thank you so much 😊
My problem (and likely only me), is - in theory - I like a back elastic, but I always find the lumpy side seams bother me and rub.
Its difficult to find nice elastic :(
The back elastic bothers me a tad but then I don’t feel it anymore :)
You are so captivating to watch! I found your video because I wanted to see how others lengthened the shorts. I stupidly lengthened mine at the line above the crotch on the pattern. I'll use your method next time! Btw, never heard of red interfacing and it's AMAZING!
Karina I love the shorts, and they fit perfectly!
Beautiful that shorts, lovely!
Thank you so much 😊. You need some too!
Great job. I I don't think I would do the adjustments on the red pants. I think it would almost take as much energy as making a second pair, which would be much better fitting, as I would adjust the crotch as well.
Me too, if I had more red linen. Linen is always hard for me to find and that’s why I’ve placed value on these :)
Beatutiful makes those shorts fits perfect, well i would unpick the red ones, but thats me ☺
That’s cool. Me too :) I like the red too much and I want to wear them.
Beautiful red linen but yes, I would unpick and redo Things like that bother me too much to not make them right.
Me too. For sure. The difference is big compared to the shorts that fit like I like :)
I would repick. They are gorgeous and if the fit is perfect then you would be even more happy. :D
yup, I've already done that.
Yes I would unpick. I don't like the feel of high waist either.
Yeah. The fabric there is so uncomfortable 🥵. I should’ve made a muslin, like I’ve don’t with all the pants I’ve made before. Silly me.
Hi. I did fix them and you can see more about this pattern in this video here. ruclips.net/video/k773G8f7zAI/видео.html
Also, For binding, chose the material that is the lightest so it doesn’t add bulk inside.
I did fix them and made two more with the rise corrected and they fit great. Have a look here: ruclips.net/video/k773G8f7zAI/видео.html
If I didn’t have the voucher I think I would have only
Purchased the pants to be honest.
Love those shorts. I think you will unpick the top. They will annoy you too much. 😂😂 and that red fabric is too nice to only be happyish with them. Let's see what happens 😂
You get it. I really want to LOVE them because they are red 😂
@@LiftingPinsandNeedles Thank you so much for the reply! You have a great fan base in Pattern Review!
I should’ve made one and then I could’ve avoided the extra work 😀
P.s. do not unpick the red trouser just wear a longer top
Yes, I’d probably unpick and remake, but really depends on how much I liked the fabric. Some things I’m a perfectionist about - others - not so much😉
Just wondering, I remember you have pants blocks that fit you perfectly. Why don’t you adjust the crotch line with them on all pants or shorts ?
The style of my block is very fitted and with a lower rise and no gathered waist anywhere. I can’t use it to compare to pants with other leg styles and other rise lengths. I would’ve really needed to sew a quick muslin to check but didn’t this time 😳.
Me too. In this case I love the red linen too much.
Hmm, to unpick or not to unpick? They don’t look bad but,, I personally would unpick because having the shorts fit so nicely, the trouser fit would really bug me and I just wouldn’t wear them as much. Unless I had more red linen...
No more red linen. It’s expensive. Because I know how the shorts look and feel, that’s what motivates me to improve the red ones :)
Exactly.
I can find linen here, but not locally and it isn’t cheap. Hence my willingness to fix them so I can love love them.
Hi Karina, I have tried to make the twist top 6911 and my head is boggled with the pattern. It’s like a jigsaw. Needless to stay it is back in the envelope
I’m sure I’d have issues figuring something out like that too. Those styles just aren’t intuitive.
@@LiftingPinsandNeedles I realised what I did wrong now. I didn’t see that there was a larger size range😏 all good now. Thankyou
The 4” is ok for when I was a teen but now... it’s just too short. Easy fix to make them as I like so it’s all good.
Oh my gosh, you're on a roll! Do you not sleep? :P
Thanks for your hard work in creating these helpful reviews.
I do sleep and I even nap 😃. Thank you so much for watching.
@@LiftingPinsandNeedles Hi. I need to shorten the legs. The finished measurements for the inseam is 3 inches longer than my inseam.
@@busysewingbee3819 I would remove 1.5” in two places in that case. I would add an extra line on the legs to do that.
