Nice to see pops out with you again. And pops with a new lens! I've just about justified the 400mm 2.8 in my own head, but convincing my gear acquisition officer is still work in progress! 😅
One thing that's really great with this video is seeing you discussing the plans for the day with your father - treasure those times Dan I feel you'll look back on them in the future as great day's. Look forward to more content Cheers. 👍
Thanks Glenn, I try to remind myself of that every time I go out with him. Special times that will undoubtedly become special memories and never not appreciated. All the very best mate 👍🏻
Another fantastic video Dan its great to see you and Pops carn’t wait to see the next 2 videos great photos and Pops looked really well take care keep up the great work. Mike
First time meeting your Dad for me and don't you sound similar! Nice to have a shared passion too. Another lovely video and always like the music you use too. I remember one Summer hearing flapping under my landing window, and I went downstairs to see what the noise was and as I opened the back door, there was a sparrowhawk and a pigeon with no head. I just left it there as I knew she'd be back and eventually would fly off with the remains and cache them. I kept watching from the small window in the cupboard under the stairs. It's always such a privilege to be so close to nature. Look forward to your next ones.
Thanks very much, we are certainly cut from the same cloth Pops and me 😂😂😂 I think you sum up the experience perfectly of being in close proximity to wildlife, it really is a privilege 👌🏻
Great stuff Dan and some fantastic images as always. What a fantastic place and do like the way Des runs it with the limited opening times. Not got a buzzard in my portfolio so one to look at for the future. Look forward to part 2. 😀
Another great video, good to see you and Pops on a road trip. I think it is far better to have a well managed hide on your land than an organised shoot/hunt. In these days of a depressed rural economy anything that helps the land owners to earn a living and at the same time enables us to enjoy our passion cannot be all bad. Fantastic footage and pictures as always.
I had not thought of it in this way and you are absolutely right, thanks for sharing a different perspective on hides on farmland. Thanks for your kind words and support 👍🏻
Another fine presentation Sir Willis & Senior (The Master). Spot on regarding buzzards & their wariness around us humans, they’re happy if we’re at a distance or if we haven’t got a camera; but as you say the minute you raise your arms - 9 times out of 10 they’re off! The Stopsol one way glass is the way to go, I have PM’d you previously about a hide in Norfolk that I visited for Buzzard & Sparrowhawk that has the glass in place - & it’s just fantastic. You really don’t know it’s there after a while & it’s definitely the way to go for sensitive subjects. Some great images, video & advice for viewers as always. Great stuff guys, say hi to ‘Pops’ from me. Keep on keeping on! Best, Nick
Thanks Nick, you always make such sense in your comments and I always appreciate the support that you show the channel. I have passed on your regards to Pops and he of course sends his best regards your way. I will definitely be looking at the hide you have recommended in the future mate. All the very best 👍🏻
Hello Both, What an amazing trip, So good of Des to share his locations. Super images. It is so good to see the way people are so helpful when you are just nice with them. One good looking farm too. Lousing a stop of light that where your 400mm f2,8 will shine. Great new lens for Pops, Just in time for this trip.
Dan - great footage ! Well, you know what makes the difference btw. 84 shots your pops have taken and the 637 you! I guess, your pops is more seasoned, he knows when to take a shot and possibly he might not be in the mood to go over 637 images in Lightroom, etc. in order to pick perhaps 5-10 keepers! Thanks again - great story too!
Another great watch Dan, I’ve been thinking about one way glass for my hides and it sounds good, so may delve into it a little more. Ps good to see Pops out and about with you 👌👍
My kind of day out! I've actually experienced that glass in a hide at Inala Nature Reserve on South Bruny Island, Tasmania. We were filming/photographing Sea Eagles using road kill to bring them down to eye level. 👍
Fully get what you say about nothing being certain with baited hides. Was at a kingfisher hide this year - saw the kingfisher as I arrived and then spent 10 hours staring at a stick in hope. Saw absolutely nothing and that was fine as it is still nature. As always loved the video and thanks for showing some of these hides around the country. Great to see your experiences and also get some future photo trip ideas from 😀
Thanks very much mate. Sorry to hear that you had a rough session in a hide but as you say, that’s wildlife and possibly one of the draws that keeps us coming back. All the best mate 👍🏻
Another great video with great photos, do you mind sharing what cf express cards you use and any particular reason you chose them ? I am upgrading my kit and will be needing to purchase a couple but there are so many different ones and at different prices. Again thanks for taking the time to create these videos.
Thanks very much Paul. I use Sandisk Extreme Pro cards, both are 128GB and I rarely run out of space. As for choice, to behest with you, I always used their SD cards and never had one fail on me. I have also used their free recover software when I accidentally deleted files and it was such a lifesaver. So in summary I trust them. Hope that helps mate 👍🏻
That’s great Dan thank you so much , I totally get why you stick with Sandisk, given the reasons you gave . Again many thanks for all your great work on this channel. Kindest Regards Paul
That's awesome! I was out taking pictures of white tailed deer a couple of days ago and I saw a buzzard/hawk feeding on a rodent in a field close to the side of the road, but (because of traffic) I was unable to stop for a shot. This is great! It's good to see "Pops" out with you. Please tell him "hello" for me! Cheers!
Top work Dan and Pops! You had an amazing opportunity to photograph a very difficult species due to its extreme wariness. I am looking forward to part 2 with the Kestrels. I hope that you both aren’t currently shacked up in a B&B or sleeping in the car after being thrown out by Jen following that “remark”😂
HI Dan I must admit that whenever I have seen hides advertised that you have to shoot through glass, I have been put off. But hey, you could not tell that your video and images were taken through glass. If you hadn't mentioned it at the beginning, I doubt anyone would have known. They really are fabulous birds of prey, they get a bad press which is a shame, but I have to admit your video and beautiful images have made them into film stars in this video. Lovely work thank you. Regards Andy
Cheers Andy, very much appreciated as always mate. I can honestly say that the one way glass was an incredible experience and something that I would definitely encourage others to try. All the best 👍🏻
Great video as usual. But aren’t these hide prices getting out of reach for the average person who would like to have this experience when you add in the cost of travel and possible accommodation.
You are right that the prices are a little on the expensive side but you certainly get a lot for your money in terms of the experience. Of course if you add in travel and accommodation then things get more expensive. Appreciate your honest feedback 👍🏻
The images were fantasic plus excellent video, but why did we have to wait fifteen minutes into a twenty seven minute video before we saw the first image. I don't think that you have got the balance right. Your earlier videos were not not like this. Still enjoy the videos but not just as much as I used to.
Sorry you felt this way about the video Billy. I take on board your feedback, it is always a balancing act in terms of timings so I appreciate you suggesting that the introduction was too long 👍🏻
Hi mate. Good video again but without being a keyboard warrior it’s a brief not a debrief! They happen after you’ve done something and unfortunately you’re slipping into the habit of looking at the screen on your osmo not the camera. Sorry just one of those issues that really annoys me! lol
Nice to see pops out with you again. And pops with a new lens! I've just about justified the 400mm 2.8 in my own head, but convincing my gear acquisition officer is still work in progress! 😅
Keep chipping away at the gear acquisition officer I’m sure they crumble eventually 😂😂😂
Thanks very much Dale, appreciate it 👍🏻
@@danwillis_photography haha, I will Dan!🤣
Absolutely fantastic bird of prey. I think I need to visit this spectacular place.pops is looking good
Thanks very much John, I can thoroughly recommend this hide it’s amazing 👍🏻

You can get three people in the hides comfortably. T
