This statement is wrong on so many levels! Sh!t, I'm a father of three young children, the primary carer, plus I operate my own business. I can run a sub-3H. I'd like to see Nick try that with the limited time I have. All he does is train all day and the best he can do is a 3:24:00?
My first marathon I did 3:36, my second marathon I did 3:16, my third marathon I did 3:06, my fourth marathon I did 2:57. (3 year progression) You will progress. Just stay injury free. (It doesn’t get easier, you just get faster.) Good luck.
Rimiki Dkhar depends what type of injury. Slow build up in running mileage, combined with stretching of the hips, quads, calfs, feet. Buy some good shoes and do 80-90% of your running at easy pace. All of these things combined will give you the best chance of staying injury free. Good luck!
Stopped doing sports around 15 years ago... Always had an excuse, the wife, the kids, the job... Started a few days ago thanks to this channel. Thank you man! This channel deserves a lot more subscribers.
I wanted to say thank you! I am a 17 year old. My whole life people have always told me that I am a girl and should not try to compete physically with the guys because I am not as strong. Lol that made me furious. I currently do BJJ and am training now for a half Ironman next summer. Thank you making these videos. They help TREMENDOUSLY
You already know this, but dont listen to them. They're only putting their own insecurities on you. If you know what you want to do, your mindset will carry you through those "barriers" and even further. Good luck with everything, juet wanted to say this because I like seeing people motivated.
Bare Performance Nutrition is awesome. You are great leader Nick! I've been on a journey from 2007, when I was 350 pounds, and I'm now 185 pounds. I've been getting comfortable being uncomfortable since 2007. I found your vlog last year and your inspiration keeps going in my journey! Thanks Nick!
Nick, I watched this video twice already. And here’s what I like about you, you’re not afraid to share your failures. There are so many athletes/RUclipsrs/entrepreneurs that only want to show people the “sexy” stuff. They only want to show their highlights and never the times where they were down in the dump. But you aren’t afraid to share your failures and you mentioned that you’re not going to let it beat you up. You’re going to bounce back. This is definitely a trait that I plan to have as I progress as a junior officer and as an athlete. Thank you BPN team for pushing Nick and shoutout to all of the athletes that came down to support! Much love all the way from North Pole, Alaska.
BIg man, Big words. I’m a sixteen years old runner from belgium and you have inspired me so hard the past two years. I even ran my second half marathon in 90 minutes. Thank you for the great content nick!
I’ve been watching your channel for years. Always impressed of the drive to constantly push forward. Mad respect for admission of not meeting a goal and the process to grow from it. Thank you for sharing your challenges and knowledge earned.
What impresses me was that he was not mad he didn’t qualify, he said it best “the goal is still to qualify for Boston Marathon.” Despite the obstacles we face and even if we don’t make the mark we continue on and don’t quit, we “Go One More!”
My Respect to you Nick. Im proud to see someone that served in the military coming back to the community and bringing people together. You can tell everyone has mad respect for you and that is amazing.
Awesome job nick! You inspired me to run my first marathon in November, ran NYC in 3:04 and now I’m trying another marathon in May for sub 3. Looking forward to seeing you go sub 3 soon also!
My 1st marathon at 38 had about 6000' combined elevation gain, uphill for the first 9 miles, and started at 5000' elevation. Pulled off a 4:12, but walking for the next 24 hours was a new adventure in discomfort. Good job on your marathon!
Running half marathon in few weeks, completely out of my zone. Running is not my thing iam a bodybuilder at heart but to my surprise av fallen in love with running, your an inspiration nick 💪
I really appreciate this video and your results actually encourage me even more than if you had ran sub 3. I have had a very similar journey. I started endurance sports in 2010 at 30 years old. Worked my way up to an Ironman in 2014, and chasing sub 3 with plans to do a 100 in the future. My first marathon was Nashville 2012 and ran a 4:54, was not expecting the hills and was way under trained. Fast forward to 2017, and I ran my current PR of 3:31. This has been a long challenging journey, but I’m not giving up hope. I’ve had to take breaks along the way due to life, but I’m back in the game and hunting down that sub 3! Thanks for sharing!
JpLynch 1990 I’m from here and I’ve run the 1/2 marathon 3 times - you’re going to love it, the vibe and the people are wonderful 🔥💪🏼 Canada is weird though so it’s either going to be so hot they cancel it, or 1 degree Celsius until 11 am 🤷🏽♀️🤣
Nick, even though you didn’t reach your goal, keep pushing. Your channel helped inspire me to start running, keep running through hard times, and keep going through the pain. I have lost over 100lbs and am still going. My goal is to complete an iron man. Thanks for the great content and being inspirational. Go one more!
Did two halfs at the end of last year. Started with high 11 minute pace and finished with a low 10 minute pace. Started running this year mid January and am prepping for a half in April. My pace is now high 9 minute pace. Anything is possible just go and take it.
The go one more method applies here more than ever Nick. It’s only right for you to go one more marathon qualification course to reach your goal of getting to Boston. I really believe you’ll get in at that April marathon. Goodluck and go get it!
I just started watching your videos about a month ago. You motivated me to sign up for my first 5k in Atlanta this coming up Saturday. You touch more people than you know. Thank you
Nick, There are not many people in this world that have literally changed my life. I’m training daily for the Toughest Mudder in May, minimum goal is 40 miles in 12 hours, (50 miles is ideal). Your perseverance and truth is evident in every video. Also, thank you for sharing what your mother went through, god bless her. Strong greens and strong reds 4 life.
Training for my first ever 5k in June. Former athlete and current first responder who wants to get in shape for my future and not be like my family with health problems. Inspired by you brother.
I did the Honolulu marathon back in December 2019 and it was my first marathon I only had 2 months to train for it. My time was 3:13:58 for my full marathon. You have to put a lot of miles and you have to set a good pace.
Nick _ I like that you took on the Austin race. Everyone knows it is a difficult course - I ran the half this year and have already signed up for the 2021 Austin full marathon. My wife said "yu are going to hurt yourself" and "you know this is the course most people avoid"....but that is the point for guys like us (me retired JSOC guy) right....we seek out those things that no one else wants to do because they are too hard. Well done brother.
Loved the video footage and you are such an inspiration to so many. That is more impressive than running a sub 3hr marathon. Although I don't quite understand the rush/reasoning behind doing another marathon so soon (8 weeks), I wish you well. I'm sure there are many people giving you advice, so hopefully you take it with the best of intentions to help you reach your goal. I just want to restate what you have said many times in your videos. The goal is to run 6:50 pace! You Never mentioned holding 6:41 or 6:29 's. Find the 3hr pacer group in Eugene and stay right behind them no matter how great you feel. This is your journey, not ours, so do what you feel is necessary and enjoy the adventure. Life is good!
Go one more!!!! I’ve done the same 5k race for the last 7 years and this year I’m signing up for the 15k! Boilermaker Road race is such an amazing event and I’m so pumped for it to be my first 15k
Maddy Lee the Boilermaker is an awesome race! My husband has done it 24 or 25 times, I’ve done it maybe 5 times. Go kick butt, you’re going to have a blast!
Thank you Nick for pushing me outside of my comfort zone and doing something I never thought I’d do. It was such a cool experience to meet you and all of the people you brought together for the race. Incredible
Love it man! You killed it even if you didn't get the time you wanted. You freaking got a 50 minute PR thats huge no matter what. I know you'll get a BQ one day for sure. Love you're promoting running too! GO ONE MORE!
Nick bare thank you for inspiring me to run. It has changed my life. My goal is to run a marathon in under 3 1/2 hours in the near future. I just did my first 50k ultra Spartan race and now I’m ready to attack my next race 💪🏽
As your mate said you already have won. Building a positive community is what life is all about. Running wise I reckon you need to get leaner for marathons. You are still running better times than probably 70% of the worlds marathon runners elite and recreational but with a leaner frame you will do it easy.
Apart from Nick Bare and his heroics, this is just a greatly shot and compiled video. Might just be one of slickest youtube videos out there. Well done you guys. Keep inspiring.
No regrets at all, you gave everything despite having not getting your target time. I would be pretty stoked improving my PR like you did. Thanks for sharing the journey.
You’re an animal, Nick. Love following your training. I have two half marathons and a Ragnar Relay coming up and you’re keeping me motivated. Thank you.
Nick I just completed my first half marathon 2 weeks ago and watching your vids really motivated me to train and do something like this it feels like we where in on something and it was a really good experience now I kinda want to do a full marathon one day.
Thank you very much for this video. You are one of the few who encourage and teach other people the Spartan dream, those men with great aerobic endurance like Philipides and great physical strength in their muscles to hold a sword and a shield in combat, a paradox in today's world ... if you run a marathon you are thin and without muscles, and if you do bodybuilding you are strong but not resistant to run a marathon. you are achieving both in many people in the world, a strong and resistant body and mind, as well as healthy. Congratulations from a Cuban Doctor from Qatar.👍. Good luck!!!
Hey Nick, like most people here, I think what you do is very cool, but please stop blaming your time on the course. You were not ready for a sub 3, that's it. The Austin marathon is not hilly, but even if it was, a flat course would not make you 30 mins faster. You need to lose weight and to train with high mileage, and both take time. But also, running another marathon in only 8 weeks is a very bad idea: you won't be ready and you will only increase the risk of injury, You can't force the sub 3, it takes time, even if you have the "go one more" mentality. You would need at least 16 weeks to have a chance to break 3. Not only that, if you want to be absolutely sure to qualify for Boston, you don't need just a sub-3, statistically you need a sub 2:55, so just let that sink in. Finally, there are well-known milestones to achieve on the way to the sub 3, and those are: a sub-18:15 5k, a sub-38:00 10k and a sub-1:25 half-marathon. If you can't tick those boxes, chances are that you are not ready for the sub-3 marathon. Good luck, and I hope to see you at the Boston Marathon next year (I am on the same journey)!
I absolutely agree I've never seen this guy but right from the get-go I knew instantly that he was not breaking 3. His mentality is definitely there the heart and spirit is there. But physically his mind I feel still thinks like a body lifter. I was his size and when I started running a few years later the lifting went way down so the mileage on the road can go up. I feel like he basically crashed after 10 MI. Which may suggest that he may need to do a lot more Hills not work so much on speed I just filled the mileage up keep that heart rate down. The first few minutes I felt like I was watching a bunch of TRX CrossFit people. I really feel for this guy I think he made a tremendous leap and if inspiration. But I don't think he should start instantly training the next week to get ready for another Marathon a few months later. I will continue to watch can subscribe to this guy cuz I think he can make some great strides his mind and heart is there she just needs to let that body continue to improve
Nick again Great Job on your PR and I see you getting it in Eugene. Go one more! my first half marathon ever in Boise, Race to Robie 8.5 up hill 4.5 down hill. Gonna be a shredder but your motivation for "go one more" has pushed me harder the last few months. Thank you! I also have set goals for this race that others think I'm plum crazy, but if you don't push, how will you grow.
Good luck in Indy! Flatter course should definitely help. In live in Atlanta and I believe our marathon is the hilliest of any major marathon. I finished my 1st marathon ever on that course in 2019 and it was brutal!
@@Loveall247 dude I'm not here to bring him down. I give him props for an amazing Pr, but he won't qualify with that much time of training. He needs to put more miles first.
The marathon is just brutal. I did my first marathon in February. I finished in 3:53 but was expecting to do somewhere between 3:15 and 3:30 based on my training. But the marathon is just so hard. Good shit
good job, one advise is, dont predict the time before marathon, glad u happy of wht u accomplished. marathon will amble u. keep pushing you will find the time u hoping for. good job
Hey there Nick love the positivity, I saw that you cramped up used to go through that a lot and noticed that incorporating Yoga into the training regime really helps a lot with it, reasons being for the mobility and flexibility it gives your muscles nonetheless the connection with mind body soul it gives you as well, love your vids man thanks for the tips advice and motivation!
Just from an outside perspective and only from watching your videos, it seems like you did “new” things on race day that you didn’t during training. Personally I wouldn’t be hitting the electrolytes that hard if you didn’t do it before every long run. Yes, electrolytes are very important, but you’re putting additional sodium into your body that you aren’t used to before a long activity. You also ran in a shirt vs. running shirtless. That can absolutely be detrimental in overheating. Again, just an outside perspective based on what I’ve seen in your videos; just trying to give some advice. Keep it up! Can’t wait to see you qualify!
Jordan Privette I’d disagree with you. I don’t think having a shirt on and having electrolytes would make that much of a difference. Trying a new thing that would make a difference is changing up running form, new shoes, trying a different warmup, and going out a different pace. Those are things that can affect you.
This video is awesome Nick! Can't wait until Covid is over and hopefully once there's another race, you will have another event like this. I would love to attend. #GOONEMORE
Huge PR! Eugene is flat but “fast” needs a few other variables. You want good groups running under 3 so you can jump on the train, bigger great crowds help. My buddy did Eugene and he didn’t think it was very “fast”, lots of solo running on bike paths.
Thanks for putting the team together! I can honestly say I would have not run the full without the support from the team. Seriously epic! I don’t know who the guy in the black shirt with CH on the back is, but we had a nice little race to the finish. 😂
The quote "at some point this is going to end" has been helping me so much through my runs. I love it man thank you.

Eddielee Joseph why?
I have knee injury. How to avoid it?

I feel like he basically crashed after 10 MI. Which may suggest that he may need to do a lot more Hills not work so much on speed I just filled the mileage up keep that heart rate down. The first few minutes I felt like I was watching a bunch of TRX CrossFit people. I really feel for this guy I think he made a tremendous leap and if inspiration. But I don't think he should start instantly training the next week to get ready for another Marathon a few months later. I will continue to watch can subscribe to this guy cuz I think he can make some great strides his mind and heart is there she just needs to let that body continue to improve
I just started following you Nick. To my surprised, you actually have a team member from our beautiful island of Saipan! What a small world!
Thank you! I also have set goals for this race that
others think I'm plum crazy, but if you don't push, how will you grow.
Great video. I definitely 👍 respect and appreciate when you shared the race results with honesty. 🍻
Good luck in Indy! Flatter course should definitely help. In live in Atlanta and I believe our marathon is the hilliest of any major marathon. I finished my 1st marathon ever on that course in 2019 and it was brutal!
How Can you not like this vlog. Nick juste simple inspiring. Can't wait for the next update.
Nick, You ran one hell of a marathon, congrats dude! You shaved alot of time off your previous times, you'll qualify for the boston in Eugene!👊👊💪
Sorry to say this but he won't.. That's not enough time to recover and train properly.
240sidewayzz I hope you give Nick his props and apologize when he proves you and others wrong! #Go one more
@@Loveall247 dude I'm not here to bring him down. I give him props for an amazing Pr, but he won't qualify with that much time of training. He needs to put more miles first.
@@Thegsr98turbo damn negative Nancy
You the man Nick! Keep pushing and continue to inspire everyone with your “one more” mentality 💪🏻
The marathon is just brutal. I did my first marathon in February. I finished in 3:53 but was expecting to do somewhere between 3:15 and 3:30 based on my training. But the marathon is just so hard. Good shit
Is the Run One More group in Austin going to be an annual thing? That would be awesome!
Dude love the video my man been watching and it will come keep pressing brother!! RLTW
Watching your videos have made me push a little further on my runs almost ran 5 miles. I know that's not a lot but PROGRESS.
Love you bro! Supporting you in every way I can. You’ve earned it!
good job, one advise is, dont predict the time before marathon, glad u happy of wht u accomplished. marathon will amble u. keep pushing you will find the time u hoping for.
This was so motivating and so dope to be apart of it 😀
I got chills watching this bro
Awesome job to all! Nick you are an inspiration! Blessings!
I carry mustard packets for cramps. Eat one when a muscle starts to get tight. It helps. Enjoyed the video. Run with joy. Good luck.
Thanks for tip! I’ll try that.
Nick Is Sick Man ........... He CAN Inspire People .......
The production quality 😍
Nick "Balboa" Bare - legend.
Damn I love your tenacity to reach for your goals.
This video is awesome Nick! Can't wait until Covid is over and hopefully once there's another race, you will have another event like this. I would love to attend. #GOONEMORE
Nice improvement overall. Keep pushing it to achieve your goal. The team is awesome.
Well done!! Can’t wait to see how you proceed from here.
Huge PR! Eugene is flat but “fast” needs a few other variables. You want good groups running under 3 so you can jump on the train, bigger great crowds help. My buddy did Eugene and he didn’t think it was very “fast”, lots of solo running on bike paths.
He watches you every day and this is where he gets his inspiration
DUDE THIS WILL DESTROY YOU THREE LEGGED WORKHORSE! MY ALL TIME FAV! LOVE YOUR VIDEOS NICK!
Nick just turned into Forrest Gump.
Lmao
Thanks for putting the team together! I can honestly say I would have not run the full without the support from the team. Seriously epic! I don’t know who the guy in the black shirt with CH on the back is, but we had a nice little race to the finish. 😂
Man the speech was very LT, what a motivator
Nick what a effort in the Austin Marathon! Awesome!!!!!!
Get it nick, we're all behind ya!! Get knocked down but we get back up!Go one more! I hope to go up to Austin and visit the BPN grounds!
Fantastic, well done, you did it. That's the point, and next time, you will push forward.
It's a shame that I'm just now hearing about Nick Bare. My new favorite channel to watch.
I know him when he lift weight

You're still a hero and inspiration Nick!
This shit chokes me up every time. 😅 Way to go Nick, and the whole BPN team.
