Gm's 4 cylinders have always been underrated. I had a 5 speed LD9 2.4l in a Grand am couple and would still have it if it wasn't for the blasted cooling issues that ultimately killed it. I am a current mustang owner but I still have a love for the Gm 4 bangers.
@Jarred510 only after 2nd. it has ridiculous tire spin using no-lift from 1st to 2nd even at drag strips, although my tires suck too. might get misfires too if the car isn't warmed up enough, or whatever reason. solution is colder plugs.
cobalt ss come turbocharged now, the older ones came supercharged. pick up a road and track sometime. they also run a 13.9 from the factory now as opposed to the s/c ones that ran a 14.5 stock.
Both cars are mean but im glad the Cobalt won. I love muscle cars, theyre my type of car, but those Cobalts are SERIOUSLY under rated by morons online who dont know any better. People will trash talk them all day when none of it is true or desirved. The Mach 1s are nasty too and maybe a little under-rated in the muscle car world, but i just hate how Mustang guys are. Acting like they desirve a win because of that pony emblem. Theyre the Phillip Rivers of the performance car world

the SS/SC was under rated and stock dynod on numerous dynos at 225HP. I have a heavily modified one with stage 3 plus a custom tune and every bolt on imaginable. It pulls hard on most EVO's, STI's, and SRT-4 and definatley give them a run for there money. I love how people think they are slow and that I'm stock when I beat them. They have to be decently modified to beat me now. Plus they can be rare to see in some places. Good car for the money and when you spent EVO prices on it modifying. NICE
@tastychips1 I know, I have one but it sucks. Plus I'm not launching at 5000rpms like it's setup to. I was referring to beating a Mustang GT with my traction control on since it wouldn't let my tires just spin, it was by accident though not planned out.
yea the car is real dialed in. The dealer offeres a tune that unlocks the learn down feature but then again any tune unlocks it. Its one of the only mechanical laws this car has.
@ballorfall44 You can even hear him shifting that 5 speed, good race though. That Hahn intake is incredible, I know a couple people with that and the turbo back exhaust

I drive a 2003 mach with full exhaust, intake, intake spacer, some suspension work and some good tires. As far as any cobalt ive had the pleasure of racing got beat. Roll or dig. Srt10 ram gets it bad too. Driver mod is the best mod

@XxGlamisDunerxX nothing wrong with my supercharger. it's fast as hell without mods. i'll spend the difference from the discount i got at gm on my sc and be faster than the turbo easy. still the turbo is nice too.
@XxGlamisDunerxX Yes I agree with you but turbos dont have a good power curve like you get with a supercharger/Nitrous. So at the strip/ dig race i would take a supercharger/ nitrous over a turbo but if you roll racing i would take a turbo. Cheers.
@00saleen9244ssscm You can get a mustang gt to easily be in the 12s, do you have a set of slicks on it for the track? With a full exhaust, intake, throttle body/intake manifold, mild cam and slicks you should be under the 12.90 mark. Thats still what I consider bolt ons too, and if you're using weight reduction you should hit 12s easy everytime
@hipnaughtic with cold air the coblat is probably making 270 hp maybe better the car weighs just under 3,000lbs...vers the mach1 at about 3600 the cobalt already runs mid and high 13s with the nolift shift so..drivers race man

Chevy has a 2.0 litre 4 cylinder direct injected car that can run even in a straight line with a Dodge R\T charger or Challenger and even run even with a ford 2005-2009 Mustang GT... And out handle those cars like they were made in the early 80's... Gotta love it...

@cozzey05 i said inexpensive... as in people who can't afford faster cars get mustangs to enjoy the daily drive a little more. but don't forget that ford invented the ford GT which is the vette killer and the terminator cobra at the very least deserves respect. its engine can handle more power than a supra with the same turbo settup

My 2.0 is great, but put a cobra supercharger on a gt and is a monster. Example my friends 08mustang gt. I'd be good with cai, ic, +cp, cat less dp, exhaust. Turbo upgrade..maybe in a year or two lol
@ITRIEDEL if you did some research and looked at my videos, you would know my cobalt that i use to own, was a supercharged, not a turbo. At the time of the race that i took on a mustang saleen, 87ish mustang with nitrous, DL, intake, exhaust and a stock mustang GT, i had a supercharger swap for a bigger one and still running on stock exhaust setup, at the time i was only 260whp. And the mustang isnt a legend, Ford simply cant come up with anything better so they keep upgrading it.
good run. but what are the other mods on the cobalt? i dont believe its just a cold air. mach's trap in the 105 territory running 13.3's stock so somethin aint quite adding up
@admiraljimmy brings it down to a drivers race mach 1's run mid 13s with a decent driver and the cobalts can hit high 13s to 14 but I agree stock for stock you would think the mustang would win
Got respect for this LNF!!!! Turbo cobalts dominate!!! I beat a procharged mustang and evo 8 when i was stock. Cobalt dominate their car class!! Mod for mod aswell, no matter what.
wasn't an insult, just thought back to a race i had with a mustang gt in my ss/tc and i left the traction on by accident and seemed to launch great lol
@N3CROKiLLA33 just be careful. the gt is a 2v engine where as the cobra is a 4v engine and the engine itself can take stock around 900-1000hp whereas a gt can take 500 at most. dont put it above 8lbs of boost with stock internals
@TheZohaun not too mention the supercharger...I love the 03/04 cobra, it's an amazing car. I just hate whenever some douche in a 2 valve thinks he can pull my LS1 because he has gears and bolt ons.
@ballorfall44 then that driver must've missed shifted cause cobalts usually run mid 14s 0-60 in 5.9 sec and the 5speed mach 1 runs 0-60 in 4.7sec even the 4speed auto runs 0-60 in 5.6sec!!!!!!!
@russnord you are right you take the eaton blower or turbo off an cobalts ss and its Super Shit, but if you where to take a turbo of an mustang gt it would still be fast depending on the mods speaking. I just saying without boost 4 cyclinders are useless for performance sorry S2000 fans.
@TheZohaun the new mustang 5.0 is pretty impressive...it's just a shame when you finally think ford stepped to the plate and made a decent sports car again it's all ruined to the high rate of failures in these transmissions.

it was really good of them to switch to turbo, now that the srt-4 is gone, they dont have any competition in that department

@mustanglover1985 cobalt is pretty much stock, besides the intake but thats only good for about 5hp.

@jasonschwarting That's 45more HP if the cobalt is stock, which it isnt. SS t/c cobalts are low 14 sec cars at best bone stock.

The Mustang driver drove hard and power shifted. He drove really well it's just that Cobalt SS TC is really fast.

Not trolling, but did the Mach1 driver miss 2nd? He had the Cobalt off the line then fell back quickly. Seemed like the 1-2 shift didn't go right.
