I work for a well known EV manufacturer and can honestly say, having driven a lot of EV’s from different manufacturers, a refresh model 3 LR is borderline the perfect vehicle imo. Solid range, solid performance, solid tech with an amazing sound system, the best charging network with a 99.5% up time. Add that to the price you can pick them up for now…….good luck to all the other manufacturers lol. There are some other awesome EV’s don’t get me wrong, but at that price point……no competition.

@@neilfennell6833 I thought they meant the 2021 refresh (ie. when they started coming from China, with the black window trims), since they said 'the price you can pick them up for now....', given the Highland models seem to only be available new, you'd be paying RRP. So it wouldn't make sense otherwise.
I agree, though. The indicators on the Highland are a bit of a turnoff for me. No doubt some enterprising person in Shenzen will come up with a retrofit stalk kit or some such.

2nd hand E-Tron 55 Launch Edition, with everything on it for 40k 3 years old 19k miles. Just as you say great stress less driver, range not brilliant but really quick charging, wouldn’t have anything else. Came with 2nd service and Audi front/rear dash cam.

Bought a 2018 Tesla MS P100D in July, have already done 25.000kms in the 6 months, many long distance trips, absolutely LOVE it, performance is just unbelievable, never thought I would love it this much.... Now my all time favourite of the cars I have owned, Mercs/BMWs&/Audis and even beats the love of my car life, the Jaguar XJR X308 and that is saying something... but for day to day practicallity and fun it just wins on every metric.... Let alone on costs eg Fuel/insurance/tax etc (in Austria). Love your channel please keep it up.... And hows the high mile Tesla MS video coming up ;)

A tiny bit frustrating by Elon Musk, that he could, with a few hundred dollars, make the Model 3 the best value car on the planet.
    (1) Indicator Stalks (2) Suspension mods (3) Matrix lights (4) Sunglasses holder. I mean EVERY Motoring Journo mentions the same damn things.
If he fixes those then there's nothing to complain about.

    15:40. Good shout.
Too many used EV reviews ignore the astonishing 28kWh Ioniq (your picture shows the 38 - not as amazing) It has astonishing efficiency and acceptable range that a 'small battery' easily achieves but it also charges very quickly, so stopping to recharge isn't onerous and makes long trips quite relaxing.

One of the best used EVs sub £15k for me is the VW eGolf.
I assume it was missed as the sub £10k eGolfs are the older smaller battery versions. And the sub £20k has some good options that do over 200 miles range like the eNiro you mentioned.
But had you of said a sub £15k category as opposed to sub £10k, I think you'd agree the 2019 eGolf with virtual cockpit, heat pump and couple other options is a far better car for most people than a Seat Mii and an electric mini.
    My reasons.
    1. VW build quality before they started cutting corners and doing haptic buttons.
    2. Boot space to fit a labrador.
    3. Handles like one of the very best sold cars to date (a Golf), only better still due to it's centre gravity.
    4. Great styling and LED lighting all round.
    5. Nippy fun little car, but bigger and more practical than the Seat Mii and Mini.
I genuinely believe the eGolf is one of the most underrated EVs in the sub £15k market today. Probably because most people hold onto them and don't want to sell them as much as you see other EVs. Maybe?
Similar to the older Ioniq EV
    Thoughts on my opinion Richard?
    Merry Christmas all.

I've always valued your opinion Richard, you put me straight regarding the modest realistic mileage on the XC40 recharge I bought, which is so excellent in other aspects. I have a mini electric - really fun car for nipping around, great handling and I usually get 120 miles as well - main issue for me with a dog is it’s too small for long journeys
Also have an ix3 - not in your list - but comfortable, range ok (230-280 miles) , physical buttons which we prefer , and good space with practical square boot (why we bought it rather than an i4 )
Both cars have been fault free after almost 3 and 2 years respectively (apart from the mini that was delivered with an empty ac system - quickly rectified by a local dealer)
Planning on keeping both for a few more years before needing your services for a replacement 😊

Really enjoyed this, as with all your videos. I think the jump from 10 grand to 20 was a bit big, maybe chuck a 15 in there next time. It just happens to be the bracket where my budget lives. One area you could add also would be general controls. Both my EVs have had the old style auto shift levers and I hate them with a passion. They are illogical even on an ICE car, but make even less sense on an EV. Big up for the i3 and ID style lever. Also, oft accessed controls such as h/vac and indicators. I'm seeing road tests now on the Highland model 3 and really can't see how buttons on the steering wheel can work when you need to change direction with the wheel twirling around. Can't wait for your opinion on those. Happy and prosperous new year to you.

Extended Range RWD mid-size is the sweet-spot in the market for me, and where I'll be looking when my current TM3 lease finishes in a couple of yrs. I'd also like to see the ID.3 eventually include the more powerful & efficient rear motor that's going into the updated ID.4. 2 yrs can see a lot of changes happen, maybe even the Return of the Stalk to European Model 3's? 🤔

      Just to chip in...
Richard and his Team did a series of 3 videos on (at the time...) £15k used EVs - 30kWh Leaf, Ioniq 28 and Zoe ZE40 - go check those out.
      As for your shortlist...
Of those, the Zoe would definitely go the furthest per charge - if your body fits the "non-height-adjustable seat + rake-only steering wheel" combination, then it actually drives really nicely... quite go-kart-y... but rattly trims put me off.
The Mii is super-efficient giving 5.5-to-6.5 miles/kWh achievable in most conditions. Remember, it doesn't have an infotainment screen - you use your smart-phone instead... which isn't always convenient, for example, if you're using Sat Nav for essential directions, but then a phone call comes in...!
And, whilst I've not driven either the Mii or the Ioniq, owners on the various EV groups I'm in absolutely rave about them.
      Hope that helps... 🙂

We have multiple at work. The stupid software is the worst. Most annoying is that it shuts of and resets everything if you just open the door. The thing dosen't even rember that you for say have switched of blutooth so the phone dosen't connect to it. They are also incredibly thristy, a little snow and you loose the curise control completly, there is no dumb mode. Just annoying auto crap.
If you for say have open radio list to switch between station it returns to homescreen after some time and you have to use the stupid touch screen to get back to it the list. Give me back the buttons, it's soooo slooow to do things that used to take half a second

The BIG problem with Tesla software is those features which are omitted from Voice Control. My real bugbear is that I cannot voice operate the fog lights. At the one time I really need to look ahead, I have to fumble about on the screen (into a sort of sub menu) to get the gog lights on. To add insult, the error message says 'That command not implemented yet' , so the car recognises the command, but cant do it, despite the fact that it can voice operate the charge port flap using a ridiculous voice command. All the features you might need to access while driving that are safety related ought to be voice controllable. Rant mode off.

It's had the same fail message for nearly four years now.
There are a couple of options that help (but don't fix):
Tap on the headlight icon on the screen and the light menu comes up on the same place - not good, but only two taps required. Pulling the stalk to flash the headlights also brings the menu up. Other option: you can now program the left hand scroll wheel on the steering wheel. If you live somewhere foggy, it might be worth setting that.
