Me lol
I know it's peanuts compared to the rest of the ride, but I'm a details guy, so I love how in the interrogation room, you know that you're looking at a screen, but the fact that they perfectly display the characters shadows on the ceiling makes me so happy!
That tiny detail makes it feel that much more real.
I think it would have been better of daisy riddly fid better acting and use your hands. It's odd to watching her hands at her side when she could do something like point at you.
Jeremy Mendoza Might be limitations of the hologram effect, not an acting choice.
Another great detail I noticed by watching many of the videos is the first transport film. The film is daytime in the day and nighttime if you ride at night. Very cool!
@@stevenvasquez1709 Didn't notice that! love it!
As a detail guy you probably noticed the large shooting gun turrets inside shooting through a window? Or if they are actually outside it means you are outside in space as well. A bit like riding horses on the top of a starship destroyer? Still I like the effect. It's just that the second I noticed it I wondered how long it would be before anyone pointed that out.
I wish the First Order fleet transport was a Superstar Limo
You are a freakin' genius Eisner....that was the best Disney ride ever hands down
And I would've soiled my pants laughing my ass off if that really happened LoL
Oh Eisner. If only we knew back then that you were the lesser of two evils..
Normal people do not talk about that ride. It was the worse ride of Disney.
Omg we are in the presence of a legend
I about spit out my drink when he said they were about to board the REAL ride
It’s really just show scene after show scene and it’s wonderful
Offhand Disney if only there was a VR experience of this
Offhand Disney my daughters wheelchair got lost for a bit and they offered to let us ride again as compensation. Then they asked if we just wanted to do the ride or the whole experience. We answered the whole experience. They weren’t surprised. (Then it went down again. It did go down twice on opening day at least. Was down about 7pm-8:30pm or so.)
I’m curious . Ride mechanics and layout are pretty cool
@@thejabail I'm sure someone will do a 360 video of this ride soon!
That pre-show feels like what some walk-thru attractions were planned like. This is a really remarkable attraction. I wonder how accessible this is to limited mobility guests.
My question exactly/ I'm in a wheelchair and didn't see any accessible ride vehicles. Up until the time you need to get in and sit down looks very accessible. I wonder if they have any rear loading ramps like Ellen's Energy Adventure did.
I can tell you that my daughter is in a wheelchair. She is able to transfer and stayed in her chair the entire time until the interrogation room. She only had to stand for about 2 minutes and walk about 20-30 feet. I am not sure about guests who cannot transfer.
@@daryletaylor4067 Thanks, I appreciate the info. Did she have to transfer to a Disney Chair or was she able to take her own and was her chair waiting for her at the offload at the end of the ride. Pirates got completely screwed up when they stopped transferring wheelchairs for guests. Also I would like to use the information you provided in our Facebook Group "DiSNEY WITH DISABILITIES" with your permission.
As Bob Sees It She used her own wheelchair and it was waiting for her at the end just outside the exit of the ride vehicles. Very convenient. And please feel free to use the information. Glad to help.
It’s fully accessible for those with disabilities. Wheelchairs, ECV’s, Walk assistant walkers, as long as you are able to transfer.
This is definitely a new era for imagineering.
The children who were awestruck and inspired by Disneyland growing up are now taking the reigns.
It’s clear this is the first major attraction the “new kids” are able to flex on.

Wait, the Kylo Ren and Hux at the beginning are screens? I thought those were cast members who just looked the characters and were really good actors.
No I think Hux is really the actor but I think Kylo is a stand in on screen because the voice sounds off.
Kevin W. Clark Yeah I don’t think it’s Adam Driver
Offhand Disney lol
Lol it's ok me too✋
Offhand Disney I think it’s him.
They used the Wilhelm scream
Nice
When Kylo’s saber punctured the f*cking ceiling at 12:16 I got GOOSEBUMPS
I still haven't quite figured out how that works and how it looks so darn good tbh
I went on it and I got sooo scared
Remind me to T2 judgment day
i totally agree with you about this Final Kylo Ren animatronic. It's movements mimicked those of the Wicked Witch of the West from Great Movie Ride....hmmmmm, maybe it's her with a robe and mask on!! lol
Unfortunately it continually breaks down. Almost half of the times I have been on the ride the Kylo Ren scene was out of order. The large tab from the ceiling just hangs down and the cars stop for a moment in front of it and nothing happens and you move on. There is some aspect of that sequence that has been troublesome but my guess is it has to do with the huge airflow because an animatronic is just an animatronic.
Orlando Tourist Traps That’s bullshit. You don’t just move on. There is an alternate ending for when the animatronic doesn’t work where Ren is outside in his ship and he gets blown away there.
"I'll get you my pretty...and your little base location too!"
Disney does LOVE to recycle their AA's
@@orlandotouristtraps7410 And Kylo is outside in his TIE fighter instead.
Universal should take notes. This is how you do a modern dark ride instead of just using screens and tilting the cart a bit.
To be fair Universal was on the forefront of screen tech rides then Disney took the next step. Rise of the Resistance is simply everything Disney knew and threw it into one basket. Universal will likely make something similar to, remember however Universal did use the concept of Disney's fairytale land for Disney's animal kingdom and made the Island of Adventure.
Hagrid's Motor Bike Adventure, VelociCoaster, and Forbidden Journey would like to have a word. lol Also at least the cars at universal tilt, this car doesn't even do that. I've honestly never understood the hate Disney fans have towards Universal about screens. Disney uses screens all the time too... Avatar Flight of Passage, Navi River Journey, Soarin', Mickeys Runaway Railway, It's Tough to be a Bug, Honey I Shrunk the Kids, Rise of the Resistance, Star Tours, Toy Story Midway Mania, Mickey's Philharmagic, Oh Canada!, Circle Vision 360, Ratatouille, Smuggler's Run ... ect ect...
Disney should take notes on Volcano Bay, Disney won the darkride, but are loosing in the story coaster department, (with hagrid motocoaster leading and Velocicoaster to follow.)
LightCan u ruined Star Wars
@@TennesseeTravelers94 Universal tends to be way more in your face with screens though, make you wear tiny 3D glasses on rides, often don't have that great of effects, and they don't even bother hiding the fact that they're screens.
I often don't like screens in rides at all, but I will say that Disney just tends to do it better and tends to leave them out of actual rides.
Most of the examples you used for screens with Disney are theater experiences, not rides. Of the ones that are "rides" the only ones that require 3D glasses are simulators. NONE of the actual rides require 3D glasses, and blend screens with animatronics and scenery extremely well.
Forbidden Journey you wear tiny 3D glasses, it shoves a screen in your face with edges clearly visable, giant robot arms everywhere, it shakes you around in a nauseating way... it was technically impressive, but not immersive in the slightest.
On the other hand, Hagrid's was an incredible ride that's even outdoes Disney in many ways and it didn't have any screens as far as I remember.
I will say though, the Spider-Man ride was Universal's most immersive application of screens, and it somewhat redeemed the idea of using screens in rides for me.
This ride should be called "The Rise of Hux": He lets us escape, Kylo loses, and the Resistance doesn't win anything. It's everything Hux ever wanted!
This proves that he’s more evil than Kylie Ren.
This makes me wish that there was a ride like this for the prequels like the battle of coruscant or the OT like the battle of the Death Star or the Second Death Star
A trench run ride would be so cool.
Well, they _kinda_ do, with Star Tours.
They now have rides themed for the original and new films, so now we need prequels!
@@hpvamp246 While Star Tours was a ride for the original trilogy (though I think it took place afterward?), it has been changed so it's a ride for the prequel, original, and sequel trilogies.
MisterBurgerBeachball1225 Thank you for letting me know! I have not been on it in a long time.
God this ride makes me want Mystic Manor over here in the west even more. Think of how big and popular it could be with Trackless ride systems becoming more and more popular.
I know... trackless technology is just AMAZING!!! And there's a lot more to come in the future. ROTR is the first trackless in Disneyland and deserves another. In Fantasyland. The Magic Kingdom still doesn't have one... I'd build a brand new Pinocchio Daring Journey for the MK using this system. Pinocchio is very underrepresented in the MK I think...
Mystic Manor would absolutely make my lifetime. We NEED it stateside.
Well Epcot is getting the ratatouille ride from Paris
Honestly, I think HK deserves to have their own special attraction that you can't experience anywhere else - it makes that beautiful park a must-visit!
I have had problems with trackless. In line for Luigi's RR's someone had their mobil Hotspot turned on and it crashed the attraction three times in a row. Has this problem been fixed?? Is this why ROTR is breaking down too? Seems easy to hack if a hotspot can shut it down. Plus, i still see the tracks on the floor from the previous vehicles so I know pretty much where we are going. There are no such lines on Luigi's. Just sayin.. Kungaloosh!!
I'm not a star wars fan but that ride looks really cool.
Patricia arr same
It's cool when it works.
why are these all my friends

0StarGames0 I read that in the way r2d2 “screams”
I'm one of your biggest fans as well as a cast member for Rise and Smugglers, I was so bummed I didn't get to see you!!
I've ridden this twice now, and I truly think it's the best attraction I've ever seen. It is a really incredible demonstration of what Disney can do when they embrace technology and don't cut their budget. Every element of the ride is spectacular, from the Rey hologram, to the light saber cutting through the ceiling, to the way the Kylo Ren animatronic reacts when there is an explosion. It is just unparalleled in the amount of immersion it gives you. I can't imagine any Disney enthusiast being underwhelmed.
When ray comes up in the line I like how everyone is like woah
It looks like a real hologram. Not as 3D as the holograms in the movies, but she really does appear out of thin air. I couldn't see any screens or clear panels, and I was looking for them.
SPOILER. It is a mirror at an angle with a video screen behind the mirror like many high end hotels have in their bathroom mirrors these days.
ruclips.net/video/TCaVunuwPO4/видео.html
Just look at the projection area and you can see the wiring and junction boxes and lights running along the wall behind it.. Then turn around and see it exactly mirrors the items on the wall behind you.
Then walk towards BB-8 and look back behind the projection area and on the far wall and there are no lights or cables running along the wall.
It is done extremely well but it isn't really a hologram at all but a screen image distorted to look like a hologram.
6:38 that part of the preshow is on a big, slow moving turn table that u cant feel it turning. That's how you're able to exit the same door. It gives the illusion that u actually traveled somewhere else on the ship which is a very cool effect! Also i have a question, in that part of the preshow, does that whole ship actually move like star tours? Or is it stationary (apart from the turn table)
Master214 it actually moves. Not as aggressive as star tours, cause you are standing with no restraints. But it does shake and feel like you are flying, getting shot at, etc
@@arianna6917 wow... 🤤🤩
Thank you for the answers! the reason i asked is because my mom didn't like star tours or simulator rides at all, so i wanted to see if she could at least be able to see the full preshow which is why i asked if that part moved or not. I for one love simulator rides though
@@Master214. the preshow is fine. It won't give anyone motion sickness. However at the end of the ride after the freefall drop, there is a 30 second simulation like Star Tours that is bumpy. At least its 30 sec and not 4 min so she'll be fine
@@gissneric she would still hate the ride just for those 30 seconds alone
went on the attraction the second day and your review is spot on. Awesome and fully immersive. felt like I was in a Star Wars movie/environment for a few minutes of my life. I just hope all these effects and all the cast acting stands up to time.
I've watched two ride-on videos of it and I just... can't quite comprehend it. I mean I'm a behind-the-scenes junkie and for the most part I know how all of the rides and illusions work in Disneyland but this one I am still trying to figure out. I think I have an idea on how it works but it's still messing with my mind a bit and is making me feel overwhelmed. I've never seen such an advanced immersive ride before and I have a feeling there's going to be more coming soon in the near future. My only concern about this is I wonder if there's going to be more down time, more problems, etc. With so much going on and so much technology in it how does that translate into actual operating time vs. down time?
So you are dying for a evacuation video then huh.
As far as I know, if the ride goes down then it takes 1 hour for the system to boot up.
M Leigh I can’t imagine how they did the hologram of Rey. That is absolutely amazing! I don’t think we have the tech yet.
Drake` Turcotte it’s done with a two sided mirror and a rear projection of the character. There is a RUclips video out that shows the tricks and tech that they used for this ride. Incredible.
Stephen Lozano they must’ve hidden the mirrors incredibly well. It seems that that is all we need to make holograms right now.
Looks awesome!! But... “Pirates of the Haunted Mansion”? That’s a ride I’d love to see!! LOL. See 17:22 time stamp! I had to make sure I didn’t mishear!

I was in the last group so there was no line and my team had a really fun time interacting with the first order officers. One of them asked "Any Questions before the interrogation?" I just said "If this kylo ren guy was so smart, he'd have us cuffed."
I dont know if this is a r/madlad or a r/iamverybadass moment but holy crap your a fricking ledgend
I got to ride ROTR on the first day as well, was in boarding group 32, so we saw how long the wait was in the first break down. But once our boarding group was called, it was about a 30 minute experience from queue to finish. The detailing is amazing, like the blaster shots that are clearly from screens creating burn marks on previously pristine walls. It was an awesome immersive experience. Was also my first time at Galaxies Edge. I thought it was awesome.
The only thing ROTR needs is Baby Yoda saying your name as you leave the attraction like on ET Adventure
I'm with you.
I don't care if it doesn't make continuity sense we need that
I'm thinking more like it's a small world but okay
I’d settle for a Baby Yoda that looks in your general direction
But that wouldn't be original
When does Pirates of the Haunted Mansion open? That ride sounds amazing.
It does. I hope Jean Lafayette gets a cameo.

I’m going to Disney World this summer and I’m so excited to go on this ride
I can’t believe there are people who are crapping on this ride just because of the part of Star Wars it’s based on
It's unfortunate
Kinda sucks that they ignored the OT
Maybe in 100 years we'll have a ride for each movie lol
many are purist for some legit if questionable reasons, others are toxic evil vile people who want to destroy everything so they can feel better and using the fandom to attack Disney and SW. Those things will never stop even as the new trilogy has ended They have too much hate in them now and will continue to attack long after,. .
This ride looks awesome but the new trilogy is ass. Would have been better off set in the OT or even prequels.

@@drewknowles5250 exactly.
Why oh why did they open Galaxy’s Edge without this online? This is the difference between the most immersive thing Disney has ever built... and a Star Wars themed food court.
To be fair... it’s a pretty damn cool food court. But yeah, rise of the resistance was having a lot of issues and complications and wasn’t gonna be ready for the projected/advertised release date of summer 2019 so they opened the parks without it because the entire rest of the land was finished so why not
Disney's fiscal year ends at the end of September. They wanted profits from it to count for this year even if people were upset and complained about the land. They knew Rise would make them forget about it and drag in a ton of profits early in the following fiscal year.
It wasn’t ready. Better to open a functioning ride than a half-functioning one.
Hagrid’s is STILL having issues.
I always thought it was basically to force everybody to go visit GE a second time even though they'd just been over the summer.
Just like the Skyliner, Disney pushed out something that wasn't ready to meet their arbitrary timeline. The fact that it is breaking down EVERY DAY should tell them it just wasn't ready.
When they where in the elevator and the light saber comes thru the ceiling, like, how?
I'm guessing the ceiling panel rotates? We don't see the moment the saber is actually thrusted through, but I'm sure the trail it leaves is hidden behind the underhang it originates from. The panel is rotated, giving the appearance that the saber is moving through the panel rather than with it.
The jagged edge is probably dappled lighting.
Kylo Ren shoves his light saber through the ceiling after jumping onto the roof of the turbo lift you are using to get down to the shuttles
@@sky_skipper That is exactly how that effect is created.

I’m not a “Sequel Trilogy” guy at all-at all-AT. ALL. But even I admit, this looks like a neat experience!
I wonder if Kylo Ren's "dainty arms" are so that the animatronic dosen't tear it's own arms off from the motion of the force pull and the flailing when the wall is opened up to space.

Thought I saw you! We were too busy rushing to meet our boarding group to stop. This was hands down the highlight of our trip. ROR is truly a masterpiece that Star Wars and non Star Wars fans can appreciate. Definitely worth waking up at 2:30, catching a bus at 3, and waiting for the park to open at 6:30 (ish?). So glad that I was a part of all the first day hype. 🎉
I can't wait for the next decade of imagineering for Disney parks 😊
I just had the opportunity to ride this yesterday and i thought it was amazing. Here at Disneyland in Anaheim, there was some waiting because of some bugs still to work out, but once inside the whole experience was great. I love that you start off outside and get onto the ship and then you end outside...it really does give you the immersive feeling. 2 thumbs up Disney....
Honestly, now that i'm seeing some good footage of the ride, it looks amazing. I have not been yet, but am going back late next year.
I’m old AF, and this experience would make me weep with, like... awe and unadulterated joy. Pretty spectacular.
Truly a Jean LeFeet of imagineering!.........I'll show myself out.
🤣🤣🤣
To be honest i was pretty sceptical of Star Wars land but this ride blew me away. The pre show is an amazing experience in itself and the animatronics are incredibly fluid and I honestly thought they were cast members. The attention to detail is just what Disney is all about.
Okay I'm crying like actually crying this ride is sooo cool oh my gosh!!
I thought there were only two drop shafts, then I saw the other two doors and that they were opposite of other videos where the cars went in the other side. That’s so incredible. Also so amazing how so many huge and very complicated systems are orchestrated together by one master control system/computer telling cars where to go, what to do. I bet there are many disguised sections throughout the ride that extend the ride a few seconds to space the cars apart to not have cars waiting for the others to finish a section.
My only real gripe with the attraction is the final confrontation with Kylo Ren. It doesn't feel fluid and engaging enough.
The really unconvincing piece of the roof that gently swings down way too late so you don't see that the animatronic is not actually being sucked into space is what totally kill the immersion for me. That whole final encounter with Kylo Ren feels like an afterthought in an otherwise incredible attraction. I really hope they upgrade that one day.
I honestly don’t know how else they could’ve done that scene? What, swinging his lightsaber at us and missing like a numpty?
It is really flat considering its supposed to be the climax of the narrative, the animatronic is ok, the back wall is really good, but that partition that drops, oof.
I would of just had the ride vehicles turn you away faster if possible . Like when the hull is damaged and is pulling us all out of the ship the transport could turn guests a bit faster in the opposite direction like the pressure of the force just blew us far away. That way guests would not notice unless it was a second or third ride through and they purposelessly glanced back to see what was going on. Again might cause a bit more whiplash or not even be possible, or make timing go out of wack but It's the only thing I can really think of to solve the issue.
Craig Hawkins I thought the same thing about the roof panel conveniently falling down. It looks really contrived. Without completely reworking the effect somehow, I think they could at least improve it by making the panel look less generic. Maybe have some more random looking wires and structure come down instead. The way it is, it doesn’t look like believable battle damage, but rather looks like it was made to do precisely what it IS made to do, hide the animatronic.
The ride was incredible! From the POVs I’ve watched I think we definitely had one of the most vocally excited ride cars 👍🏻 it was great meeting you and hanging out. See you again sometime I’m sure.
Just an FYI, if you want to go to a theme park don’t wake up early. If you’re well rested then you will find yourself having a much better time!
I'm a year late, but that is entirely subjective. I enjoy a trip knowing I have done every single thing it was possible to do that day. I love it when not a minute is wasted. That said, when waking up early, I go to bed early (which I can do relatively easily thanks to my sleep medication).

Hey adam driver, its adam driving time
So the one pre-show part that you said was like Star Tours is actually a giant turntable, and thats how you exit the same door you entered
I'll be honest the first time I didn't remember what door we even came through so it wasn't as exciting of a surprise. I think its a cool gimmick but also serves to increase capacity for the shuttle and the reveal. However if they had just made it so you walk in one side and out the other and I'm sure a lot of people would have been just as impressed.

I was there for opening day too though we didn't stay up all night to get there super early as you did although we were there pretty early. We were crew 105 and because of the breakdown we didn't get the notification until about 6:30. Though I have not ridden a lot of rides in my day, this ride was extremely impressive. I’m not a huge fan of the new trilogy, but this ride was insanely good. They do such a great job of making you feel like part of the experience. I was fortunate to go on it the first day it opened, so I had no idea what to expect and I left the ride misty eyed. It’s almost a shame most people will see the ride online before getting to experience it in person.

You mean, like a new original ride not based on movies? Much like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad or Space Mountain?
Knowing that I will not be able to get to the ride for awhile, I have watch many ride throughs and I got to say, it's so well done...its going to change everything going forward.
The ride is incredibly awesome! My only complaint is that they used one of the lamest villains in movie history instead of Darth Vader, one of the most iconic. This same ride would have been way cooler if we were joining the rebel alliance against the empire.
My first thought when i first watched.
Marco Antonio Garcia Tbf, looking at the ride and the land as a whole? I can see it being relatively easy, a bit costly admittedly but Disney can take it, to back date the land into a period either just before the original trilogy or during the original trilogy. The Millennium Falcon ride probably wouldn’t even need to be touched, but I can see Rise of the Resistance being backed dated, replacing Kylo with Vader etc etc and having to be the Rebellion.
That wouldn't fit with the timeline.
I’m a huge Darth Vader fan but Kylo was fine, especially since they kept the mask on the entire time. When you go on the attraction it’s way better than this video.
Great review! I agree with everything. This truly is one of my favorite rides ever. Right now it's probably my #1. I think it's going to be hard to beat.
I love pirates of the haunted mansion
2:04 I love how everyone just went "Woah!" In unison 😅😅
I really hope they make a Rebellion-era version for the 45th or 50th anniversary. That would make an already amazing ride even better imo
I was thinking it wouldn't take that much effort, but I'm worried about the design of the windows. They're still distinctly FO rather than Empire.
Sucks. The sequel trilogy is pretty garbage, it's a shame the ride ride isn't based off of something better, what with all the actually-impressive work put into it.
@@sky_skipper I wouldnt mind seperate rides for the OT and PT era
I love what Disney has done to create such an immersive experience. Can't wait to ride it.
I was looking forward to your opinion of this ride!
EPIC! Thank you for this excellent commentary! Do you know if the “hologram” of Rey is a Peppers Ghost effect or how they did it?
There's no glass there so I have NO IDEA how they did it
@@8YoungNastyman8 They might be using a fabric scrim instead of glass.
@@lanceturley7745 the second time I went on it I made sure to go as close as possible to it and I didn't see anything there
I'm just straight-up convinced it's magic, lol
Its actually a one way mirror infront of an oled screen that are both angled to give the illusion of a hologram.
We rode it in Disney world last month and it is easily my favorite ride of all time. My heart was pounding the whole time because I had no idea what was coming and the ride is so immersive. I feel like I survived a star war, and it blew my mind. It is totally worth getting up early to get in the virtual queue
Wait they were a projection ????
I thought they were cast members
We're living in a golden age of Disney parks. Finally. After living through the gruesome Nineties, I can say that it's wonderful to see Disney doing what it does best now, massively upgrading their properties worldwide.
This video gave me much more of an understanding of the real ride experience than others I've seen, and much more of an appreciation for Rise of the Resistance. Thanks.
One great thing about the best of Disney attractions is that they design it as if it were a film experience, often changing our feeling of size and scope by going between tunnel-like spaces that emerge into epic huge cavernous jaw-dropping scenes. It happens several times on ROTR, and I love that. Even the walk-out is brilliant. I'll be interested to see what it looks like in the rain.
Glad most of the new stuff is very deep into production or recently completed. If the good ol' CV would have happened a couple years ago, all these enhancements would have been shelved another decade.
