I watched "The Way I see It" just a little while ago. And I laughed, cried, smiled really big, mourned, and most of all I prayed for our Great country to recover from what ever (all) this is that has been happening since President Obama left the high office.

Pete Souza, you are a national treasure.
I just saw this film as part of the Toronto International Film Festival and I really liked it. I found it to be a really interesting behind-the-scenes look, first a bit with President Ronald Reagan and then more so of Obama's presidency. There are clips of Pete doing his touring shows where he speaks about the photographs and tells the stories behind them, and other photographs are shown as Pete tells the story of what it was like working in the White House through the years. There's interviews with the subjects of a few of the photos and I found myself tearing up several times watching it. The photos really have this cumulative emotional effect on you. The candid photos of Obama dealing with the tragedies were some of my favourite, when you see just how empathetic, compassionate, and respectful he is and how he's someone capable of incredible human connection. At times, it's also put in contrast with the current administration.
Great review - this just made me even more excited to watch it!

I just watched the msnbc special, The Way I See It featuring Pete Souza who was the official White House photographer for Ronald Regan, and Barack Obama... I was up and down out of my seat, I had tears in my hands, I was up clapping, I was talking to my television... I absolutely loved the special... I am not usually a person that follows the path that's laid out for you by tv programming, but this one is hard to ignore... Soon as the special was over I immediately jumped online and ordered both of Pete Souza's books about his time in the white house with Ronald Regan, and Barack Obama... If he ever has a speaking engagement that comes close to where I live, I'll do whatever I can to go and check him out... This is a very honest, and moving piece of TV programming, and I highly recommend (no matter what your political beliefs are) to give this special a sit down...
I just watched this... Oh my heart! Thank you so much! By the time Obama was singing Amazing Grace, I was sobbing... Sitting in my living room openly sobbing. I am the 50 something, suburban white woman... And I miss empathy in my government. I miss diversity in my government... And I miss feeling like "It's going to be ok". I'm tired of fear and loathing. Thank you again, I needed that reminder.

Pete is also funny the time in the elevator speaking to Obama explaining how he ran out of a film. Petes's excuse was, Obama's speech was so good he ran out of the film in the camera. Good backup line Pete. You are a photographer like no other. Thank you Sir for your service at the White House years.
You can feel how you want too about Obama but this was a great milestone for the black community. My grandparents would have been so proud. 😢😍 Me and my family cried when he was elected it was a touching moment for us. Because when I looked at my mother and father I seen pride,hope and the feeling of security.

Thank you , my favorite President ever, Mr Obama, for making it possible for a neurosurgeon ,to keep me out of a wheelchair, and to finally have a diagnosis. My surgery halted further paralysis, and I am one of the very lucky ones who regained a great majority of sensation that I had lost in my arms and legs and feet. It was on my first time out, 3 weeks after surgery, and I realized I was walking fine and didn't look like I was drunk anymore. It was so cool, because it was my 60th birthday, and I got younger. Later I danced, and rode my new bicycle. 💗ACA

Last week I was going through pics of President Obama and the one with him bending over and letting the little boy touch his hair was so poignant, and it made me smile, laugh and shake my head at how United he was. He opened the White House to everyone, because he called it The People House and he and Michelle an their daughters made us all, black, white, asian or whatever nationality you where feel a sense of FAMILY. And beyond the photo of the little boy, there where so many pictures of President Obama interacting with so many people who embraced him and whom he embraced. He was like the Father/Uncle/Brother/Friend that we all wished we had and we could relate to him as a human. He seemed to bring the world together, sensibly, professionally, like a Human should be, and like a Leader and President should. What we have in the White House now is total chaos and a man/child that has turned the world upside down..and in looking at the difference between the two, during Obama's Presidency, you see all nationalities united together at events and traveling through the white house...in Trumps administration a revolving door of criminals quitting and being fired, and divide in this country like never before. He has to go.....and he will be, because God doesn't like ugly and this man is Pure Evil.

Well that's not true. Yet another lie. There was a fairly young man of color who Trump asked to be his photographer. He was interviewed and had nothing but really nice things to say about Trump. Of course that would NEVER make the news. In fact he made the comment that if he wanted to make up stories that would trash Trump, the media would be all over him.
