Love the fact: That you have respect for God's little critters. That you both work together as a team. That even when frustrated you try and see the glass as half full. That you are not afraid (like most people) to show mistakes and flaws.
THAT is priceless. As we know the world of RUclips is perfect (not) Being honest and keeping it Yin/Yang is Keeping it Real. I really do wish more people would be more honest and show the do's and don'ts instead of "editing" them out. That's real life. Nothing is perfect.
Sucks that you got a flat. Perhaps you needed to take a break anyway.
I enjoy your channel. Thanks for sharing and keeping it Real. I appreciate it.

im glad all of the trolls aren't discouraging you guys. if i watch your videos more than a day late, the comments section is so acidic. ill never understand why people get so offended by how others choose to live their lives when it in no way effects them and how they live theirs. i appreciate getting to hear your thought process on projects and the way you explain how it all works. i hope you guys keep it up.
and another thing, it's painful to know that all of these videos are OLD. i know youre starting the house right now and I WANT TO SEE IT.

whenever i watch this water system go together i'm glad it doesn't get cold enough to freeze water in australia. We just sat two tanks up on the hill and ran pipe sitting on the ground to a header tank, 10 grand total investment and 6 hours of time between two, 5 years holding strong :)
Also with all those river stones put them in a pile and sell them, smooth clean stones like that go for a fortune as landscaping materials, well atleast they do where i live.

I'm enjoying watching these developments. It must be very time consuming to document each project in a fun, coherent manner. They even show their mistakes and fixes. Finding better, easier ways to work is a lifelong learning process. It's also worth noting that greenfield settings need tweaking over time as new needs are identified, new technology is released into the market and as prices come down.
I really respect that these people don't try to defend themselves in the comments anymore. I hope they aren't too disheartened by the unnecessary negativity.

Jessie/Alyssa, when back filling the tanks or trenches leave the fill 8" to 12" higher than the grade. It will settle over the next year as it compacts, and can be raked out easily later. Good luck with you porject it is interesting following you progress.

Idea for tank-breather filters: Zoom off down to your local auto-performance store and buy one of those conical washable K&N type air filters, (other manufacturers are available). They are designed to be washed periodically as required and will comfortably pass and filter more air than those breather-pipes will. Look for the stainless type, it will stop the beasties chewing them up. Attachment is by suitable hose-clip.

It is remarkable to watch building from scratch. At the very least one gets a much better idea of what it takes. Videos will never show every detail and much less in real time. By their very nature videos show a more dramatic or nicer image of reality. That is hard to avoid and not a bad thing at all. I do enjoy it and might soon be a similar position in Southern Europe. So thank you for putting these videos up!

I know all about working in that heat, you guys. You gotta get cooled off as often as possible. For years in the summer I would get off work and go to this little water falls and climb it and just sit on the edge and let the cold water rush over me. I would watch the little rainbow trouts jump up the water falls trying to swim back up to where they were born. I did that everyday for a long time in the summers after a hot day of working in the rubber plant. You can't do that there now. It's all been posted and I don't even know if you are allowed to go down to that falls cuz it's all roped off. So I am hoping you guys have some cool place like that to go to get cooled off so you don't make yourselves sick from the heat.

Never Underestimate a Mother's Fearless Protectiveness!
I just had 50 yards of wonderful "hogfuel" mulch delivered. The ginormous delivery truck backed down the driveway and slowly inched it way toward Dun Circean (the aviary) where two ducks have been sitting on eggs for three weeks.
I had penned in the main flock up near the house with their kiddy pools, but forgot about the two broody girls in the aviary. Because of the hilly terrain, the truck could only get within about 30-40 feet or so of Dun Circean, but apparently this was entirely too close for Broody Two, who came charging out to do battle with the monster (maybe 3 or 4 magnitudes bigger than she) putting her babies at risk. She ran straight at the huge truck using her most threatening voice (which is pretty cute, and not very threatening at all, imo).
I barely got her to go back inside Dun Circean and locked her and Broody One in for the duration.
What a courageous and protective mama she is. Good Girl! I may have to rename her Boudicca, after the Iceni queen who took on the Roman Empire when they invaded Britain.

I know the videos are delayed, but for future reference, lift the backhoe weight off the tire with the bucket and levelers and then block it up to prevent tire damage. The wheel doesn't need to be removed to place a tube inside. Just break the bead on the tire/wheel with a sledge hammer, then pry the front side of the tire off the rim with a couple large 4-5ft pry bars and some elbow grease. Then break and pry off the back bead. Bring the tire out far enough to access the punctured area. Place a patch on it, clean the rims and inside of the tire. coat it in baby powder and then put in the tube. Lube the beads up with dawn dish soap and use the prybars to place it back over the rim. Just like changing a bike tire tube....only much bigger. A pro can do it in under an hour, but service time on big equipment is several hundred $$$ per hour in most places.

Hey guys, you work so hard, good to see you working together. I thought maybe a piece of an old T-shirt might work better as your vent cover with the hose clamp. I think the screen might still let little things in, but the T-shirt should keep most everything but air from getting in or out. Just a thought . . . from the comfort of my totally on-grid apartment. Hugs.

A large galvanized or concrete pipe set in concrete for rain water catchment on the hill side on the corners. Add solar water recirculation and melt driveway, heat basement. Every roof hauls water for you.

If you have more PVC work to do you should definitely look into a RATCHETING pvc cutter (operates like pliers and cuts pipe smooth and clean with no burrs). Works great for 1" pvc or less. Usually find them in the same section as the glue.

A bubble shaped "filter" as you called it could use a wire outer mesh and an inner "microphone filter" to keep the smaller stuff out, protected by one (or two) wire meshes depending if jaws could get to it.

I've never repaired a tire before, but I have heard of tire plugging kits that can plug a tire without the need of taking the tire off. I don't know if it will work with the kind of hole you managed to get but why don't you check that out? I'm sure it will be a much cheaper alternative.

that size of hole in the tire can't use a plug ... they have to pull the tire off the rim, and use a patch on the inside to fix it ...

pretty good chance the tire has a tube in the tire .. needs taken out and patched or replaced AFTER they figure out why it's punctuation.

Too large to plug, but if it could be plugged, plugs are not a permanent solution. Any professional will always plug and patch internally.

As a vent filter/screening use stainless steel pot scrubbers, "steel wool" shoved into the pipe end about 60mm or so will do. I have been using this method for years and it's effective. Spiders are the biggest issue I have found.

Have to admit, I'm surprised at the number of people in the comments that believe the ratchet style pcv cutter is the only "proper" tool to cut pvc pipe. I usually like to cut the pipe clean instead of pinching it until it snaps, but to each their own.

Amazing efforts you guys!!! Unless that tire hole is a tear I'd try the punch in patches. If a tear, then you're hosed.
All the best on the upcoming footing works -- seems VERY optomistic schedule.

Idea for your water tank vents oil filter put them so metal is faces up were u screw it on is down to keep water from filling it up when it rains. If u can look at roll off truck hydraulic tank may have to Google what a roll off truck is . Or stop by a hydraulic shop ask them questions , think a Fram # 8 has a 1/2 pipe thread on it pipe .
Enjoy watching both of bulding the house , thank you , love to see more of the cat

About the nest. You have to be careful getting close to any nest, sometimes it is enough to get the adults to abandon it, even if you do not disturb it. It depends on the species. No, I am not a birder per say. I am a flora and fauna photographer and well birds make up a large portion on the fauna side. As a general role I give myself a lot of space between me and any young... even if it means I can not get the shot I want, even in post.

That overflow may cause a problem when it first reaches that point, the suction of the water going out would siphon the gained water from the top until it reached the outlet, either add a pipe to the inside to raise the overflow level, or add a tee on the outside pipe close to the tank, and have a vertical pipe as an air break.
