- Who remembers this iconic Def Jam fighting game series? In this video we take a look back at Def Jam: Icon and attempt to unlock every possible achievement for it on the Xbox 360! 🎮
These achievements were some of the hardest achievements on the xbox we'd ever tried to unlock. But on the bright side, we got to play as the likes of Ludacris, The Game, Sean Paul, T.I, Ghostface Killah and whole load of other noughties rappers!

In '100% Nostalgia' we take a look back at retro Xbox 360 titles that were certified hood classics and try to unlock all of the achievements, therefore 100%ing the game! Because that nothing beats that achievement unlock satisfaction man! 🏆

They apparently dissolved ea Chicago but idk how the parent company doesn't have the assets for neither vendetta or ffny. Ea too busy roaching ppl for less game and more money. Also why can't they just use an actual disc and like reverse engineering it with the data found on the disc.
The game clearly wasn’t as good as fight for New York, but the concept for it was so original. Who doesn’t want the environment to vibrate with whatever song you’re playing?
I actually prefer this game to the others. Vendetta and FFNY were carbon copies of the other fight games of the time with rappers instead of wrestlers. This game actually tried to change it up and felt somewhat original. Could have been better but I’m sure if they had made a sequel and fixed the issues Icon had, they would have made one that people would agree was the best in the series.

The concept of all the relevant rappers beating eachother up still goes hard to this day. A modern version would be refreshing and most modern rappers are serial killers for real so it’s not like they wouldn’t fit the part

My favourite thing about icon is the art style the way the background bumps with the music is creative af

The game isnt hard, you just have to know the song. Its a easy concept to understand and i had hella fun playing it.

@Hood Arcade yeah but it didn't stack up at all to the previous games the fighting was simplified because they wanted to kind of make it like their boxing game, they had way less characters and the idea was ok for a new game but not for that and the sales were terrible and they got rid of the series..that's the problem with ea most times they try to reinvent things sometimes when they don't need to either make a new ip but don't stop doing what you've been doing

Sean Paul is pretty annoying man, but when you finally get used to using the environment and stuff the game becomes a little easier
When I was younger I could never figure out how you change your fighting style in the story mode

This was a huge step back for the franchise despite several good implementations. I get that they tried to do something unique with the music mechanic however they failed to realize “Blazin” signature moves were already their signature mechanic and bread and butter. There was so much potential with this roster and the story was half way decent. I think they showed on the subway map in FFNY that they were perfectly capable of implementing environment without having to build the whole game around it. A few environmental blazin moves like throwing your opponent in chopper blades, a cinematic punch down culminating with a trip for them down the elevator shaft and a reskin or return of the subway map would have sufficed and made this an easy 10/10 with the upgrade in graphics.
They were making an icon 2 with better fighting mechanics and throws from ffny but it was cancelled. You can see gameplay of it on youtube

i gave up on this game a le ago but in recent years when def jam icon 2 footage got leak i return to this game. it's still now good it's slow repetitive and i can see why EA shut down ea Chicago developer bcuz they had no clue wtf they were even doing with this game. EA should brought back Vancouver and aki since ea has that experience with wrestling and fighting games since 2000 with wcw mayhem and wcw backstage assault aki was going to developed mayhem 2 but it was canceled but it would be cool to see ea brining back def jam and making a threequel to def jam Vandetta and fight for new york with syn Sophia formally known as aki Corp it would be cool to see them reunite but syn Sophia is too busy making mediocre switch games but if the rumors are true that EA sports is retuning then i can see it happening.
and about those Achievements it takes heart to go through what u had to suffer to go through to collect all of that. kudos to u for accomplishing that. the the cancelled sequel still looks better then this crap game. have u seen the cancelled sequel for this game?

Yeah you can turn them on or off, I just had them on for reference. It made the game slightly easier too I guess

I never even bothered to play this one after they crapped it out following Vendetta and FFNY, but have always been tempted since it's probably like $3 now.
Yeah it’s so cheap now, worth a play just to see what it’s like. It’s obviously nothing like those classics, feels almost like an entirely different game. But I think it’s enjoyable enough if you look at it like that and don’t compare them too much 😅
