I just got off the phone with Straight talk they told me the letter about the "phone"..isn't the phone its the box. I already got the new box. So I said I'm getting dropped calls he said lets just send an update to the box. You need to call from another phone you'll need to shut off the box and turn it back on....lets see if it works.....also said if it keeps dropping calls they can do more just call them....I love this service. I hope it works under 18. a month is cheap and I don't have to give out my cell #

I just got mines I love it
I am coming up on a year of having this product and it has served me well. It acts up sometimes but not enough to get rid of it. Straight Talk has been a blessing for me. Thank you so much for watching, Tiffany.
Certainly a good deal, and the portability to take it with you on vacation is indeed a nice feature. For $5 more a month I have phone service through my Internet company. That service is rock-solid reliable, and always works, and the sound quality is quite good. I can also send and receive faxes over it, which I do from time to time.
If it were up to me, I'd still have a plain old copper phone line like we used to have back in the day when phones had real bells and rotary dials. That offered the best sound quality hands down, of any phone or phone service thereof, and was even more reliable than the service I have now.
Honestly I think they turned the quality down on cell calls, I can always tell when I'm talking to someone on a cell phone. But since cell phones do everything nowadays EXCEPT make calls, it comes as no real surprise.
So there service isn't for me, but if you're happy with it, that's what counts.
Hello Jaykay, that sounds like a great company and that is still a great deal. The old phone lines did offer a better sound and they were so reliable. I can never remember when our phone service went down at all when I was growing up. Yes, they probably turned down the quality to come up with cheaper phone deals but you can always tell when someone is on a cell phone and that is a bad thing. Cell phones have become a fashion accessory and status symbol. Most of the time, people are just chatting about nothing and even though I have one, I shut it down constantly so I can go along with my day without getting interrupted. The big drawback to this phone service is the fact that you cannot send or receive faxes. I hope that they will change this in the near future.
Good for you for shutting your phone off! This way you can enjoy the here and now and actually be there in the moment! That's one of the reasons I refuse to get a cell phone, if I get one, it's going to be for other people's convenience. It's bad enough when the phone rings at home and then I'm stuck on the line for an hour. If I'm out, I'm out of touch, until I get home. It's just going to have to wait, and 99.99% of the time, it wasn't important anyway.
@@jaykay18 Yes, I want to be in the moment and enjoy life. The cell phone is definitely for other people's convenience and I know exactly what you mean about being stuck on the line for an hour; it is a time waster. Most of these calls aren't important and sometimes people are upset that they cannot track me down everywhere but I like it this way.
I just got a Home Phone service today you can’t beat it same as my old Xfinity phone just no contract and it’s only $15 instead of $42 win-win for me

You can't normally get faxes. I have a friend who altered last generation box to use as a fax line. I think this uses Verizon. Mine did.

For my job I need a basic phone line with no features will this work ?
Talk to your manager to see if this would be okay and if it is, this phone will save you so much money. You can even put a different phone number on it, apart from your regular number. If they say that this is okay, you will do great with this phone service.

I still love the service. It can act up sometimes but not that often. It sure saved me a lot of money. Even though I have a cellphone, I still like to have a regular phone in my home. I am old school.

@@mwatts-riley2688 I live in New Jersey. It doesn't matter where you live; this can be used in any state.
You hook your phone up to the device and plug it in. You have to activate your device on the straight talk website. My bill is only $16.30 a month. It is really worth it.
I see that they are showing the $30.00 a month card on their site like that it the only option for the local service but when I call, the phone number I only get the $15.00 a month service which only has the service for the United States.
The $30.00 a month card is for the United States and to call other countries. This funny-looking device has saved me so much money.
I would tell anyone if they are trying to save money on their phone bill; to get this one. If you move, you do not have to change your number. I absolutely love it!

What if you have bad reception on your cell phone at your house? Will that mean this straight talk home phone will also have bad reception also?
I actually have bad reception for my cell phone and I am still able to use this device. Sometimes it will make a weird sound when someone calls you and you have to tell them to call you back but this doesn't happen all the time. It is definitely worth it. I don't think I will ever go back to the regular phone company service. I have had it for two years or so.
If you know a Sam's club/Walmart employee you can get straight talk Walmart family cell service for %33 off

I am not sure, Kelley. One thing is for sure, you do not need to have Internet service to use it.

My older unit worked great and Straight Talk discontinued my service on that particular device because they said I had to upgrade so they sent me a replacement unit and for some reason it goes straight to voicemail and I can’t get it working don’t know what’s up could be just a bad unit may have to get another one who knows anyone else have a problem with their unit trying to set it up
By the way do those antennas flip up or stay horizontal I’ve been wanting to see if a flip up but afraid to put any pressure on it for fear of breaking them so I keep the antennas horizontal but assuming that’s the only position they can do
I am sorry that you are having problems with your unit. The antenna on mine flips up. See if you can change the voicemail settings. There may be videos here on RUclips to do just that. Back when I got my unit; I believe I called the company and they helped me set it up. I hope that these issues get resolved so you do not have to get another unit.
Will my answering machine answer calls off of the Straight talk home phone box?
I am not sure that it will work with your answering machine but it does work with voicemail because that is what I have.
Can this work hooked up to a fax, like on an all in one printer?
I was told that it will not work with a fax machine.
Does the unit come with a sim card or do you have to purchase it separately? Can you transfer your cell phone number?
It doesn't need a sim card. Once you buy the device you just buy a card for the monthly service or pay for your monthly service on straight talk. I am not sure whether you can transfer your cell phone service but you can definitely transfer your home phone number if you have one.
How do you remove the back cover
It comes off very easily.
So does this device connect to your internet through Bluetooth or hotspot ? Or does it ping off the cell tower? I have a corded landline I’m trying to set up and I DO NOT want to have to plug this device into my internet router since it is corded. Wouldn’t make sense. I was on customer service all night trying to figure out what this internet thing is now ! I am 24 years old. How the heck is it this hard to get a landline now ! I have the wall jacks & the phone already. Just want to add another line! Apparently it doesn’t exist anymore ! 70 bucks to add internet, which I already HAVE just to add a home phone on top of my 100 dollar cell phone bill. All I wanted was a simple traditional landline since I keep my cell on silent. If someone really needs to get ahold of me I’d prefer the home phone to ring. Just so flippin complicated now. Oh how times have changed. It took 2 representatives to explain to me that traditional landlines do not exist anymore 😹😹😹 I just did not understand how we can’t use our wall jacks anymore ! What the heck. Sorry rant over. Just so stressful to get a damn phone. That’s all I want. LOL
It doesn't plus into your Internet at all. It does ping off the cell tower. This service will save you a lot of money.
