- "Brothers" is the debut single by Canadian country music artist Dean Brody. The song peaked in the Top 10 of the Radio & Records Country Singles chart in Canada and #76 on the Canadian Hot 100. It also reached the Top 30 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart in the United States.
I remember hearing this song in 2008 and immediately thought of my older brother who was a Marine that had fought in the Battle of Fallujah in 2004-2005. I also went on to serve in Iraq during "The Surge" in 2007-2008. This song brought a lot of emotions and regrets as the "what ifs" were brought up during this song. My oldest brother had also joined the Army Reserves not long after I joined the Army and I'm grateful he never saw the carnage of war. This song was one that was immediately branded in my memory.
I think that this song says how I feel about my dad and my uncle Larry. I lost my dad to cancer 12 years ago. I just lost my uncle, his older brother recently. This song makes my eyes water. It is very emotional and very touching. I think that it summarizes how precious life really is
I served 4 years in the Navy and I have a step brother who served 4 years in the Air Force. I think that this song emphasizes how important life and family members are and how precious life is. It is very touching
I am one of those who came home in a wheelchair, and wouldn't be alive without the support of my brother. What an amazing tribute to special person.

I 100% relate to this song, my older brother raised me and my other brothers because my parents were always working, and he left for the army and was deployed to Afghanistan with 101st, and one day I heard that something bad happened and I didn’t sleep for days after that, until one day I’m in school and I get called down to the office and I walk in, turn around, and there he was, I dropped everything in my arms and literally jumped up and hugged him, my dad recorded the whole thing it’s on RUclips

I dedicated this to my two brothers the one in the military and the one passed away November 23, 2022 and when they listen to it, they both cried, and the one in the military made it home safe but every time he was on deployment, he listened to the song and thought of me and this is my ringtone for him

This song for me meant so much more, when the line "This is what brothers are for" that line breaks my heart in a GOOD way .it Totally applies to hockey too!! My two boys live by that today and want to thank GOD and you for that message!
Yes sir I leave In about a year leaving to brothers behind to go to the marine corps to do everything I can to protect them and keep a gun out of there hands. If I can go over and do what I have to and keep my brothers from toting that gun and seeing things no one should then I’d lay my life down in a heart beat for them and this country!

I remember discovering this song when i was 3 years old. It was my favorite song for a good year before i forgot about it, as kids do. I rediscovered it a couple years back. I absolutely love this song and it will always be amazing and it will always hold a place in my heart as a staple of my childhood. I hope more fame finds you. You absolutely deserve it. Youre are so underrated and so talented. Please never stop making music. You will always be a legend in my heart.

The first part reminds me of when my son was enlisted in the military Thanksgiving weekend 10 yrs. ago. I was sooooo sad, and scared. He's doing fine, I'm happy to say. Remember Remembrance Day this Monday. Wear a poppy!

I was born with several disabilities, and my little brother, Ryan was pressured by my mom to do everything she wanted him to do. Including going to the air force. Becoming an officer and maybe a pilot. Yes I was told it was the "safest" branch of the military, but I've heard of air force officers who've died. He's the only brother I have. Plus I know he thinks this is what he wants to do, as if it was his choice, but my hearing is really good because my right eye is blind, so I heard everything even though I never tried to eavesdrop. It was all one sided. Mom was saying to him "I want you to be a neurosurgeon or go into the air force. Those jobs make a lot of money." Instead of saying "what do you want to do? What are you interested in?" And letting him choose his own path and make his own decisions. My mom is a great mom and an awesome person. Don't think I'm talking badly about her, it's just since my brother and I first got into letter-grading, my mom insisted on us getting straight A's or A's and B's. Bribing us with $50 and ice cream for straight A's and ice cream and $5 per A if you had A's and B's. If you got the average grade, a C, you were grounded from anything fun until that C went up. Now if she changed it up to being grounded for F's it would've been better, but she didn't and my non disabled popular skinny brother had no problem doing things exactly the way she wanted him to. Like a dog. Me on the other hand, I struggled only because I am disabled. Since I'm disabled and labeled legally "blind" even though I can see pretty well from my left eye, she doubted my dream of working on classic cars and driving them and owning a hot rod shop. Even though in high school I was significantly better at working on classic cars than modern ones. Also my teachers often got confused as to why I was punished for C's which mean I did the average quality of work an average student would do. To me, that was good. What makes my brother going into the air force hard for me is that when we were younger, we were really close. Then my mom sent Ryan to a different elementary school. He became popular, and so, did what the other popular kids did. Bully the different and disabled. He didn't even say he loved me until last year. He just started getting close to me again. I can't lose him. I'm sorry for the long comment, but I just wanted to tell my story. Thank you.

I went, at 19. Thought I was grown... My little brother was around 7. Turned 21 in Baghdad, 22 some little place nobody knows unless they been. When he mentioned joining I told him I'd break both of his fkn legs... I don't regret my time. But I'll be damned if he ever sees that. He's in his what, mid 20's now. Growing skills and learning trades. I'm still out in the woods in a RV with a few dogs for company and a host of issues. Never, Lil bro.... I'll go back first. And God ain't helping anybody then...

I remember shipping out in 08 for my first deployment and my sister didn’t come out till I was at the cab. 2013 i came home in a wheelchair she pushed me into our home. She said you taught me about life don’t give up.

My cousin looks like he may be joining the Military, I am sad and scared to death for my cousin. I don't want my cousin to get hurt. If this is what he wants to do, I stand behind him all the way. I am so proud of my cousin and always will be. I wish my cousin didn't have to go, I know that God will be with him and that he will keep y cousin safe, but still as a cousin it's hard to let him go.
My little brother is 19. He's been gone since he was 18. Bootcamp. Then deployment. He only met his niece once for a few hours before leaving.
I've been heartbroken since and do nothing but pray for him.

Lost my baby brother not long ago. Not really the crying type but it just hurts so bad. I'm the oldest and he the baby of the family. I'm only 39. I'm having a hard time understanding why my baby brother gets to go ahead of me on this one.

My older brother was also killed by 'friendly' fire June 9th 2014. Only sibling I had. Miss him everyday. RIP CPL Justin Robert Clouse.

This is a girl talking not Shaun but anyways, my brother James is on drugs and part of this song reminds me of him because he is my best friend and I lost him to a girl who is now on drugs and he is in jail because he got caught with meth in is pocket. So guess you can say I lost my best friend forever! just thought I would tell the world how close me and him are he's my best friend till the end of the world told him everything cry all day about him!!!!
