- Sublime performance of (Brenda Russell's) 'Get Here' by Oleta Adams with Courtney Pine on soprano sax from 1991 BBC Later programme. Incredibly, this was the first time that they had ever performed together!

this was amazing for me to see, the bass player is my father, Andy Brown, He died of cancer about 10yrs ago, it was so cool to see him
God i miss him and his amazing bass playing
My wife was a singer piano player
When I would go to see her, she would play this song for me.
Sadly, she passed away, and I don't have a recording of her doing it, but the memories are flooding back. How I felt when she sang it to me I was the most special person in the world during those moments!
And I will always love her ❤️
She sang this song at my church today. What an honor!! I am still in awe hours later.
I fell in love with a wonderful guy when this melody was new. 22 years later, nothing separates us--I married this wonderful man, Joseph
god is good love is good GOD bless you...
Christine Dawkins-Brewster I’m jealous, in a happy jealous way 😃
😍❤❤🙏🏾❤❤😍
This song remind me of my husband, Vernon Grant. When we met, he was living in Arizona, and I will see him at least twice in a month when I got up in the morning I would play this song. He passed away in 2015 and that song is still dear to me.
This is the first time I've commented on a video, but this piece is exceptional and I simply cannot restrain myself. The song is great and what Ms. Adams does with it is extraordinary to say the least. Often when I listen to it, I can visualize myself sharing that carpet ride she sings of. We all get something from the music we listen to, and when I hear this song in particular, and others by Ms. Adams as well, I just sit back with a smile on my face and a dream in my heart. Great song, great music, great performance. Here I go, speechless again.
This song brings so much healing for me and my sisters we were separated for almost 40 years. God reunited us!
I think that's the first time. I've ever cried from a song.
Beautiful memories indeed,
what a classic in it's purest form of music. #Wordz
Love you for saying that.
I saw Oleta perform this in Florida about 20 years ago. She did a beautiful job and there was not a dry eye in the arena!
Oleta is truly incredible So under rated ! What a awesome voice. And she is drop dead gorgeous to boot !!
John Dougherty very true to everything you said
Yes she is
the bass player had a hard job to cover, doing pino's work and he did it just fine. respect.
Obscure Brenda Russell song brought back to life by Oleta. Heard this 22 yrs ago today. Changed my life.
Again and again I come to play this song if the CD isn't sitting and ready to play here at home. This is one of the most perfect songs I've ever heard! This is EVERYTHING you could want a song to be. Talk about an artist feeling every note of a song....just watch her face. She is flawless!
This is the best version of Get Here, bluesy and jazzy. Great, suiting to the Soul
I will never ever stop wanting to hear this song.....
Good God. That was truly beautiful. Lovely performance.
hahabass truly beautiful, it’s one of those songs that get you like Bob’s Waiting in Vain
I bought this cd in Doha when my wife was in Iraq. We are not together anymore but we still have this song.
Sweet Jesus! What a voice, a woman and a performance! I simply adore this song. It seems, though, that Courtney was almost an after thought. He should have come in earlier and supported her voice. Hmm. A good performance anyway. You can see all the musicians enjoying being there and contributing. That's nice.
...I love this song!!
This is still one of my fav.... you go girl.
It's a prayer to the one you love...thanks Oleta x
I recall when she played at Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre in Denver I worked artist hospitality that summer.. Everyone adored her. She is very petite and gorgeous, remarkably sweet and bright, and just a joy.
So beautiful...❤

One of the most heartfelt, beautiful songs I've heard in my 47 years of life. Wow... It never gets old for me and I'm a married male who loves rock and roll the most. This song is Whitney good...
This song is very sophisticated ❤️ it speaks to me on a philosophical level and an emotional level. She captures the yearning in all our hearts for drama and peace we find in true love 💕 one of my all-time favorites!

I first discovered Courtney Pine in 1997-he did a KILLER "Donna Lee" on soprano...I never knew he played with Oleta....and speaking of Oleta....This was "our song" in 1992-93...I miss you Terra Jean.Always and Forever.
Hey Oleta, a blast from the past down on the country club plaza KC MO. I miss your beautiful voice and the whole nastalga of that day and time.
Soaring love and sorrow. Beautiful. My thanks to whomever posted this link. Thank you.
So sorry to hear of your father's passing. His gift of music was a gift to the world. And we are all better for it. Thank you and the Brown family for sharing him with us music fans.
Absolutely Stunning performance of a wonderful, heart-warming song. I've sung this myself on a few continents... hope I did it a wee bit of justice. Where is Oleta? Bring her back!
First time i heard this song, and her voice, she windsurfed into my soul. For ever.
One of the best songs around, and her voice releases all of those inhibitions kept away. This is quite inspirational and the carpentry of every vocal and instrument is sublime! I love it!
Loving the bass, didn't really realize how powerful it sounds!

The best singer of the last 20 years, yet strangely underrated. She didn't seem to push her career as much as she could have or the people behind her didn't.
'underrated" - UNDERSTATEMENT - SHE IS OTHERWORLDLY - TOTAL CLASS
