@@eoinj3929 sure. Logs won’t be a problem. But, I’m hesitant about the maps at the moment. I’ve looked at that HobbyLife LUA, but am not impressed. Hi Darren, thank you for your help regarding this radio, very informative and much appreciated to listen to a well informed person like yourself, builds confidence in this FRI-SKY system. I, like many others, thank you for your great videos, well presented and understandable. Regards
Thanks for the great videos. I’ve recently acquired an X18SE and have been figuring things out with ETHOS pretty well, but your videos on sound packs, model pics, and updating firmware/OTA updates has been helpful. Cheers from the U.S.
will you be doing a video on how to put lets say an elevator compensation onto the throttle trim when using butterfly mode on the frsky x20.. your other videos have been invaluable.. waiting with anticipation
Hello Sir, hope you're doing well. wondering if you can help me on this on my x20s on one of the demo planes I notice it has a throttle widget at the top right. When throttle is active the little squarebox has little red dot in the box appears. I can't figure how to have this on my other planes.
Hi Darren not sure if this is the right place for this request. I have been working with Frsky Steve on this and no luck on the setup. So i hope you can figure it out. I want to setup a switch that will give throttle for reverse thrust on my freewing Zeus. It is done on Spektrum radios it’s called pilot fatigue. There is a RUclips video by Brian Phillips if you could watch it you will see what i trying to accomplish on the Frsky X20S. I have it working on a momentary switch but i have to hold the switch then give throttle for it to work which is not what i want to do. I hope you can help on this. Thanks Art
Hi Daren. Would you have any views on the new TWIN module. I'm considering standardizing all my receivers to TW. I don't see a lot of information on RUclips or the web on its comparison to TANDEM. Would love to hear your views. Also any information on a stabilized TW receiver anytime soon?
Hi Arshish, is there anything in particular you would like to know about. I have only really seen the specs so far. I'm putting some questions together, so if you have any in particular, let me know. I may also be getting a TWIN X-Lite to review. So would be able to give my thoughts on it then.
@@MrD Primarily: 1. When will we get a Stabilized TWIN Rx 2. How does it compare to Tandem in terms of link quality 3. Can it truly replace 900mh 4. until we get a stabilized Rx how can we use it with the S8r / Sr8? Because the twin receivers do not have a SbusIn. We have reports of the internal 2.4 interfering with the time 2.4. so how would be go about this?
Hi.Darren, very informative videos.perhaps you can help or point me in the right direction,I have been trying to update the firmware on my x20s .it appears to be on the sd card but won,t load into the transmitter my version is 1.017.also if you set a curve on one channel it appears in other channels as well .not sure what to do next,I have a feeling something is very amiss
Hi Peter. The firmware file needs to be in the root folder of the SD card. Also, the filename must be left as firmware.bin Once you unplug the USB cable after copying the file to the SD card it should automatically install. The only think I can think of is that the bootloader is old. Are you holding the enter button while short pressing the power button to get to the bootloader?
Thanks for the reply, deleted the previous loaded firmware and reinstalled and it updated on ethos suite as I had previously installed the latest bootloader.is it normal for a curve you make to show on other channels which effects the other channels?
Glad that’s all working. Going forward, ETHOS Suite will just do it all for you. I updated my X20S yesterday, and it’s literally clicking a button in ETHOS Suite. Effortless. Sorry, I forgot about the curve. When you create a curve, it is available to use in all mixes. If you select it for a mix, it will effect all channel that the mix is output to. The curve shouldn’t just effect channels that it is not associated with.
There seems to be a new version of 1.5 every week at the moment. I will be making a video. But I’m waiting for it to stabilise before I do. I also don’t have much free time at the moment due to work.
Hi Darren excellent video. I use 5 flight modes with a throttle hold Master, my 2 three way switches are fluent on (futaba) Now on my x20s I've got 3 flight modes works great I try to set up 5 flight modes & select a 2nd 3 way switch but it doesn't recognise this switch to continue fluently & I loose the command of throttle hold this has puzzled me for a while can you help with one of your superb video's 😀 👍
Sorry, I don't fly helis. Are you saying you want throttle hold active over multiple positions of the switches or in multiple flight modes? I think the flight modes are still an area of ETHOS that needs improving to be honest.
Hi Darren yes so at any time I can hit the throttle hold and instantly auto in an emergency 😄. The 1st switch for flight modes is fine but it doesn't follow on using the 2nd bank of switches and I loose throttle hold 😀 I hope future updates will sort this out its a fantastic radio no doubt although frustratingly missing my futaba 18mz the x20s has issues with music files switching on is OK but switching off let's say its not perfect like my futaba you only learn these things taking the plunge your videos 😀 are superb and your an ambassador of the model world I've learnt many things from your videos I'm sure many of us agree 👍 your awsome thank you Darren 😀.
Hey Darren....Thanks for doing that! It was a great help! Now that I have the logical switches set up, is there a way I can activate a timer to run anytime the throttle is above 25%? Similar to useful throttle time on Spektrum. Thanks to all your videos I was able to set up my new X18 and SR6 and get several flights in before the weather turned. Thanks again!
Yes I have a timer setup the way you're asking about, unfortunately I won't be near my X20S for several days, I don't remember off the top of my head how I did it.
It would be pretty similar to this tutorial. You would have an A > X logic switch to detect when the throttle is higher than -50%. It would also be worth adding the throttle cut off switch position as an AND condition on that switch. Then use that logic switch to activated the timer. But, you may want to look at the throttle % timer. I find that one works pretty well. With that timer, full throttle 1 second = 1 second on the timer. At half throttle 2 seconds = 1 second on the timer, etc.
hello Mr. D, could you do a tutorial on how to add throttle delay for ethos to simulate a turbine spool time with EDF , which is usually 2.5 to 4 seconds, good for those who want to practice how to fly jets with reaction engine even without having one, I watch all your tutorial videos, they are very good and complete.
That sounds like a great idea. I've not had a turbine, but I guess the spool up time is linear to the throttle change? So going from 25% to 100% may take 4 seconds. But 25% to 50% may only take 1 second. Though that may be tricky to implement. I'll see what I can come up with.
@@MrD i never had a turbine too, but you are right, its linear so 0 to 100 is increasing until it reaches that amount, i heard that some with better ECU can pull it fast but there are few,
Excellent. Can you make it "global" so it is on all models automatically ? Thanks
Hey Eoin. Unfortunately not. You can have global special functions, but not logic switches currently.

Thanks for sharing. Would you please make a video on setting a percentage timer in relation to throttle
You just need to set the timer up as the throttle % type. Have it activate when you arm/disable throttle cut.

Not currently. I have been told that it is being worked on and should be in the next big release of ETHOS.
