Hi Justin. Just wanted to come by to tell you how much you as an artist mean to me. My very first proper rock gig was back in 2005 in Helsinki. You were on your One Way Ticket tour and the 13-year-old me just had to be there to see my favorite band perform live in my home country. Years go by and I've been to multiple shows, bought every single release I could get my hands on to, been a VIP to your shows and so forth. What I'm trying to say I guess is that The Darkness has been in my life since I first saw you on MTV back in 2003 or so and your music has been there for me in every single up and down moment in my life. Thank you Justin, never change.
Since this is a comment video I'll leave a comment. Until a few days ago I did not know who you are. I thought you were the Justin that plays blues guitar on a shovel when I first clicked on the video. But I watched your video anyway. After watching a few more I figured out you were from The Darkness. I don't know The Darkness. In 1997 I moved to an island in Thailand with no MTV or radio. I left L.A. because I was sick of trying to make it as an independent musician in that scene and was offered an opportunity to just be a musician here in Thailand and live like a Rockstar. So I stayed...and have been a "Rockstar", albeit an unknown one, ever since. I missed your debut, but did hear the name somewhere...back in the day. Other than that... The Darkness never appeared on my radar. I have to say, after watching some of your videos....I totally recognize you. You're the type of musician that I would probably meet on the road...at or after a gig somewhere and trade war stories with. Talk guitars, music, obscure facts, permaculture, the banking system, cryptocurrency, the future of NFTs and music, bars we know in Bangkok etc.... I have enjoyed your videos, appreciate your humor and will dive into The Darkness first chance I get. Cheers! from Koh Samui, Thailand.
I think one of my favorite parts of the theme tune is that it's never the same, there's always this sense of anticipation to find out what the next note will be!
I'd gladly have those tickets Brianbrianbrianbrian . The Darkness are great. They delve into the flamboyance of the 80s hair bands with just the right balance of irony and sincerity that separates them from those bands. They carry the torch of rock with pride and proper credibility.

Theirs just something so therepeutic and wonderful about been able to see your idol music inspiration from growing up, Just been such a genuine nice down to earth bloke. The fact you've made it and it hasn't changed you as person is a rare train in this generation. Nice to see the "the old timers😉" setting the bar for the next generation. Nice to no you may be having a shit day but can always tune in to see you and just feel a connection straight of the back without even ever meeting or knowing you. I'm morbidly fascinated by how the anonymity of social media brings out an impulse in some people to throw their poo at others. I'm not sure if the prospect of knocking a stranger (particularly a stranger with some a higher profile) down a peg provides some fleeting sense of power or is an attempt to redress some imagined cosmic injustice, but it so rarely seems to actually be about what it claims to be about. It almost always seems to be about inflicting some hurt for its own sake. That kind of thing seems at least as, if not more, damaging for the perpetrator than the intended target. To throw your poo, you have to first shit in your own hand. Or...something. I'm still workshopping that.
Great guitarist. Great songwriter. Great whatever you call someone who makes videos as you do. Vloger? RUclipsr? Whatever the term is I'm loving your videos. Subscribed.
Thank you for this nice, polite and honest video. It's great to see someone willing to listen to different opinions and considering them with calm and good vibes. It gives hope! 😁
I remember listening to Black Sabbath and Megadeth when I was growing up in the 90s. When I heard your album Permission to Land, I felt that good old rock and roll had been revitalized. I'm sorry if you've had your experiences with addiction. Wishing you well. Thank you.
I am a music photographer and I shot Darkness in Helsinki years and years ago. After the "Do you believe in a thing called love" -era the bands name kind of vanished from my map, as I turned in to more darker of the metals, but I got very nostalgic seeing you coming to Helsinki and applied for a photopass. And man that show was great. I had read that you'd battled some demons along the way, and I was a bit worried how'd your vocal abilities be. Nothing short of amazing, I learned quite fast. Especially the Street Spirit (fade out) cover you did. I have never had so many chills and goosebumps going over my body for the whole song. Great show, great singing and just amazing vibe!
I am also binge watching your additions to the world of RUclips. I do rather like your music, but I’m actually more intrigued with how you’re so brilliantly & possibly unintentionally showing how the ‘character’ you play onstage in preposterous catsuits is just that. People often seem bemused by someone doing that, then actually being a normal person, with opinions & faults that don’t fit with the image that is just that, a role. Most people don’t seem to get that regardless of musical integrity, most musicians are essentially LARPing, and, ‘shock horror’, also need to buy loo roll. I salute your honesty & humility.
I don't feel that you and the rest of the members from The Darkness get the credit you deserve for helping bring back the guitar sound I remember from the late 70's. When Permission To Land was released it was the type of rock I was missing. I feel you helped bring about bands like Greta Van Fleet. Thank you Justin!
Thanks for the laughs and the intro song. You really do make my days better. Between seemingly endlessly playing my Motorheart album (along with the other 6) and these videos, I'm getting my Hawkins fix. Happy.

I drunkenly woke up with a massive hangover in a half erected tent and heard this kick ass rock music and had to run to Pyramid stage to see what the hell it was - The Darkness absolutely slaying it in the opening slot, absolutely on fire! Immediately one of my fav bands. Been to quite a few Glasto's and this is one of my abiding memories. For that, I salute you Sir!

Respect on the way you handle everything in life Justin ..which is why you have so many people who care about you and together with your fellow Darkness members have such a huge and loyal following. Thank you for having the integrity to apologise and abandon the NFT platform and doing it with such open honesty 💕 and thanks for the laughs ..hilarious! Awesome channel
Best live band around! Must be insane not to accept free tickets! Be open minded ..or just ff off! 😄 Best live band around. I would go to every performance on tour if I could!

He came running up to me like whats that?!?! Not gonna lie.... you do have a voice of an angel!! And I use to be able to hit every GOT DANGGGGG NOTEEEEE.... to "i believe in a thing called love", ofcourse those days were when I was in middle school, but maybe ill try it again tomorrow at the age of 27 lolol
Man, your channel is so great and you are so affable. Don't let people get you down, I think you handled this very well. Other public figures should take note.
If you ever decide to do channel merchandise then a t-shirt with "off you fuck!" Is a must 😂
Agreed 100%
Take my money 💰
Definitely :-)
I just like listening to you, your views on Ghost were spot on, I’m a grumpy old rocker, got into rock via guns n roses and Metallica, keep up the good work!
Hello Justin 👋 I came across your channel (not sexually) last week and have watched a fair amount of your content already. I find it very thought provoking, eloquent and entertaining. Keep up the good work 👍
been a fan of Darkness for awhile. Your down home demeanor is refreshing. Keep it up. cheers !!
Thanks for the cool memories huge fan from new Zealand
Cheers Justin! Mate, if I didn’t even know who you are... You are top class and have an incredible proper temperament. I am a fan, but I actually like YOU as much as your cool tunes Be Blessed and Thanks giving me awesome counsel as a musician who takes a lot of crap in public as a performer from some. Respects, Brother.
Another fine hat. Another fine video. The Brian Brian section is hilarious!
whenever I finish any of your videos Justin, it feels like I've just had a pint with a mate. Love the variety of topics/content and your approach to dealing with fans and haters alike. Keep up the great work!
You're a good man and I love you, Justin.
Just found this and am digging it. Freaking love The Darkness, especially Hot Cakes and previous albums! Forget the haters, keep it up!
Discovered this channel today, I thought the opening was 'Justin Hawkins right again'. I thought, wow, this guys is gonna get slapped for that. But enjoyed the show, good to see someone playing with a strait bat and taking on whatever is slinged back at him. Jolly good show!
wow! So glad I stumbled on your channel!! Revisiting your music and videos has been so much fun with my wife and daughter. you are a real gem sir, a new family fav! thank you!
Absolutely love this channel! Going to see you when you make it to Belfast.
Soon!
Justin- you are good enough, smart enough and gosh darn it, people like you! You are always welcome to record at my wonderfully creative studio in PA. Come to the US! -Paul
Initially I thought this would suck, but I find it enlightening, refreshing and amusing. Well done!
You are a lovely man nuff said
Love your music dude . recently just discovered your band and channel .just ordered one of your CDs . Keep up the good work 👍
Getting to know you better, both through your youtube channel and Patreon, only makes me appreciate your musicianship even more 🤗 And I was there back in 2003, holding on to my much cherrished Permission to land cd! 🤟 Big fan here 🥰👍
I did see the video before it got pulled but I know absolutely nothing about NFTs so didn’t have an opinion on it but I just wanted to applaud you for your humility in a general sense anyway. It says a lot about you as a person. I also think it’s great that you’re exploring knew ways to release your music so please don’t let this experience stop you from doing that. Love the channel!
You're funny and nice at the same time! And also a good rocker! What else? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I’ve been casually listening/watching for a few weeks- love it
These videos are absolutely brilliant. Your song dissections are so considered and dialectical. I could literally listen to you talk about music all day long. Please start a podcast!!
I am so annoyed that I've only just seen you're playing in Dublin on the 27th and I can't get down to see it. Please play in Bournemouth, it would make my year
Theme song is on loop in my mind... catch myself singing it randomly out loud! 🤣🤣🤣 I LOVE IT AND YOU!
I would come to your shows and possibly even pay! I love your humour and honesty. Much love x
Watching the Darkness in concert last November was one of the best nights of my life! Blew my mind because you all sounded so awesome. x
One for the algorithm and Love your stuffs my guy! Thanks!
What kind of Munson would miss out on free Darkness tickets? I was fortunate to see them in Pittsburgh in 2012-13 and it was the best live show I’ve ever seen. Sadly, Covid cost me a repeat for the Easter is Canceled tour, but got them for the Motorheart tour! Let’s goooooo
"Off ya fuck" is just the best kiss off out there. Implementing it daily.
This is exactly why you are so endearing 😘 intelligent, humorous and direct but with sensitivity! You look at the bigger picture and if you can't go over it find a way around, an alternative!
Best live band around. I would go to every performance on tour if I could!
Not the hybrid theme song works! It's a major minor thing kind of like 50 ways to leave your lover by Simon
God bless this man. Forget the fact I love The Darkness and have seen them live multiple times. What Justin is doing on RUclips almost feels like a public service. It feels rare these days to see a mature person offer their professional take on their industry without being self righteous. Keep it up my man!
