Generally an extremely revered figure among the rock 'n' roll community, Glenn Hughes (from Trapeze/Deep Purple/Black Country Communion/solo fame) is known for his always-on-shape, flexible bright tenor and massive four octave vocal range. Able to handle everything from Michael Bolton-esque husky belting and Paul Stanley-like clean tone to softer falsetto and Ian Gillan-like screams, all while often playing bass as well, Hughes possesses an absolutely massive discography which documents his evolution as a singer well and features a variety of different guest spots, most notably with the likes of Tony Iommi. Although making himself primarily known as a rock singer, he has shown significant mastery on soul and funk as well, integrating these styles into his own, unique sound.
After beating his substance addiction, Glenn has only seemed to be improving as a singer, which is simply remarkable - to put it lightly - considering his age and past lifestyle. One of the absolutely greatest voices in rock, justifying the title 'The Voice of Rock' as well.
A MASSIVE, resounding 'thank you' to Monocus for helping out with the video, providing a lot of the clips and generally listening through almost everything found in Hughes' gigantic output.

For me Glenn Hughes is the best vocalist and musician of our time! Thank you so much for the video! Visibly-made with love!
This is amazing! A good display of what Glenn can do with his great voice.
What an outstanding portfolio of songs!!!
I can't stop revisiting this video, I'm over the moon with how damn good Glenn is vocally. He's my favorite singer of time, and in my opinion, he's the best rock singer of all time.
Voice of the Rock, simply the best.
Heard a ton of rock singers in the last 50 years , I think hes the best in terms of not just range but style as well.
What a voice, absolutely incredible.
Glenn, your voice and it's range and style is one of the reasons why I love ya so much.
An exceptional vocalist and an absurd vocal quality! The mix of rock with a touch of Soul And R&B!
The highs he does in "Mistreated" are a class!
Incredible. I have always love the Deep Purple version with him and Coverdarle. I believe I listen more to that version than the one with Ian (Which I admire a lot).
Glenn you are the man!!! Rock, Funk, Ballad, Metal…..you got it all!! Untouchable!!!
The God of Voice is unreal...!!!!!!!!
great music lesson! Glenn Hughes, you have a wonderful voice!
NICE job on the montage! The Georgia on My Mind is from The King Biscuit Flower Hour. 2 Discs, so it's either Long Beach or Springfield Mass. '76. Glenn IS THE BEST!!!
GREAT singer and a fine solid bass player, and composer ! GH rules !
2:08 woh... like Chris Cornell 😯
Meeting Glenn in 10 days... can't fucking wait!!!!
Its one great mashed up with all the phases and eras golden of epic Trapeze and Marks 3 n 4 and all the polyvalent vertents and feats Mr Glenn Hughes made in five decades of excellence musical and i am love this 50 th years of tottal surrender of rock
i always love coast to coast and mistreated C6 .... enormously high notes !!!!! noone beats him at it !!!!
Wunderbar!!!
The Vocal Range of David Coverdale For those of you who are interested, here's David Coverdale's video created by a friend!
Did he have a vocal range LOL, sorry he's never been to my taste. Couldn't stand whitesnake, despite it's DP influence
Seriously? David Coverdale, back in his prime, possessed a 4 octave vocal range and one HELL of a voice.
Now, tastes I get. Each to their own, I guess, I find his voice amazing myself.
The Range Place
To compare David and Glenn, all you have to do is listen to the song 'Burn'.
11:44 Watch the reaction of that guy to the right, LOL!
Till F5 there is the complete range for a classical liric tenor (f.e. sing the Bellini’s “i Puritani)
oh my daze ... i can´t get it how he can go so high .... it´s unbelievable,
i like how those black ladies can just stare at him at 14.00 - 14.10 .... he totally blew them away with his enormous high range

That C6 in Mistreated!
My dog joined in at 10:40 he gave up the rock off after only he could hear glenn after D6

The greatest singer in the world. It's not even a debate. Stevie Wonder doesn't have close to the power or range of Glenn
You need to go to listen to Chris Cornell.
