1817 ൽ സ്ഥാപിക്കപ്പെട്ടതും ഇപ്പോഴും പ്രവർത്തിച്ചു വരുന്നതുമായ സെൻറ് ഫ്രാൻസിസ് ചർച്ച് എൽ പി സ്കൂൾ കാണിക്കാതിരുന്നത് കഷ്ടമായിപ്പോയി. ഇന്ന് കേരളത്തിലുള്ള സ്കൂളുകളിൽ ഏറ്റവും പഴക്കമേറിയതാണിത്. തുടക്കം മുതൽ തന്നെ നാനാജാതി മതസ്ഥരായ കുട്ടികൾ ഇവിടെ പഠിച്ചു. ഫ്രീ സ്കൂൾ എന്നും അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു. ഫോർട്ടുകൊച്ചി മനോഹരിയാകുന്നത് സിസംബർ 24 മുതൽ ജനു.1 വരെ ദിനങ്ങളിലാണ്. പണ്ട് പുലി കളിയും പപ്പാഞ്ഞിക്കളിയും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. ഇന്ന് ഈ സാംസ്കാരിക രൂപങ്ങൾ അവഗണിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു. ഇവ വീണ്ടും വന്നിരുന്നെങ്കിൽ!

കഴിഞ്ഞ വർഷം ഞാൻ ഈ സ്ഥലത്തെല്ലാം പോയിരുന്നു. കൃത്യമായി പ്ലാൻ ചെയ്താൽ 4-5 മണിക്കൂർ കൊണ്ട് കണ്ട് തീർക്കാം. അതുകഴിഞ്ഞ് നേരെ മട്ടാഞ്ചേരിക്ക് വിട്ടാൽ ബാക്കി സമയം കൊണ്ട് അതും തീർക്കാം. കൊറച്ച് അധികം നടക്കണമെന്ന് മാത്രം.
