Yes you can adjust the hub to remove a small amount of play, but it's best to strip the hub and check the condition of the parts and re grease as just adjusting the cones without knowing the condition of the bearing is a waste of time.
If the bearing surface is pitted on the inside of the hub, can that surface be popped out and replaced or does the hub need to he replaced and the entire wheel be re-spoked?
