There are so many joys and unique Chuck expressions in this song alone. What a testimony to The greatness of the man. The band super supportive and add to the performance even with the mistakes!
I've seen Chuck live and I am a musician (drummer). Chuck was difficult to play with, he changed tempo, rhythm, pauses, words to the songs. Most bands that played with him were local musicians and did the best they could following him .. not mistakes .. just Chuck.
Berry is one of my all time favs! He and Jerry Lee performed in Vegas in the mid/late 80s together and my Dad got both of their autographs. Chuck was a class act. Friendly as he seemed, Jerry was as cocky as he seemed.
+Mike Hoffman This was a great show, Mike. My wife and I were there, 1989. My fifth time of being in the audience with "Chuck"...four times in the UK. Danced on stage with his daughter Ingrid, in 1975... in London as her 'Daddie' was getting into a 10' version of 'Johnny B. Goode'. That was a whole lot of FUN!! Chuck said to me..."Thank you for coming up and expressing yourself"...He THANKED ME!! OMG!! What a man!! Still going!! Yeah, reckon JERRY is "All ABOUT ME". Still love him, though!! Love his music!! I did record that Melbourne show...we thought that Jerry Lee looked like Danny Kay...LOL!! The Everley Bros were terrific...as was BO DIDDLEY!!..What a show!! By the way Mike, I'm getting closer to 78 yo., but still remember the "Good Old Days"!!! God Bless!! Long Live Rock and ROLL!!

@robtville666 Funny you should say that. I remember in high school a friend played me the BB's Surfin' USA, and I said that's Chuck Berry's tune! He replied, in total ignorance, "Chuck, who?" Lol. Yes, we were about 14, 15 at the time. Many thanks!! :) My good fortune was my Dad had a Chuck EP in his collection, which I've still got, though it's quite scratched now.

@omitnot From time to time a genius comes along... Chuck forever !!! If you can Amit, try to get hold of his autobiography... it's well written and fun to read !! For instance he relates how 'Sweet Little Sixteen' came to be, thanks to a chance encounter with Paul Anka from memory.
Yep! Brian Wilson wrote the lyrics to Surfin' USA and sampled just about all of Sweet Little Sixteen. This happens a lot more often than you'd think, e.g. The Beatle's Lady Madonna (1968) and Sublime's What I Got (1996) to name one.
Vor 50 Jahren Jahren habe ich in der Deutschlandhalle in Berlin erlebt, da war er schon das Größte für mich !!!! Danke Chuck dein Berndt

Never had a band....flew in, plugged in, rocked on.
And didn't play 'til he got paid upfront in cash.
and both of these things stayed exactly the same even when he was 80+ years old.

Lyrics:
They're really rockin Boston
In Pittsburgh, P. A.
Deep in the heart of Texas
And 'round the Frisco Bay
All over St. Louis
Way down in New Orleans
All the Cats wanna dance with
Sweet Little Sixteen
Sweet Little Sixteen
She's just got to have
About half a million
Framed autographs
Her wallet's filled with pictures
She gets 'em one by one
She gets so excited
Watch her look at her run
Oh mommy mommy
Please may I go
It's such a sight to see
Somebody steal the show
Oh daddy daddy
I beg of you
Whisper to mommy
It's all right with you
Cause they'll be rockin on bandstand
In Philadelphia P.A.
Deep in the heart of Texas
And 'round the Frisco Bay
All over St. Louis
Way Down in New Orleans
All the Cats wanna dance with
Sweet Little Sixteen
Sweet Little Sixteen
She's got the grown-up blues
Tight dress and lipstick
She's sportin' high heal shoes
Oh, but tomorrow morning
She'll have to change her trend
And be sweet sixteen
And back in class again
They're really rockin Boston
In Pittsburgh, P. A.
Deep in the heart of Texas
And 'round the Frisco Bay
All over St. Louis
Way down in New Orleans
All the Cats wanna dance with
Sweet Little Sixteen
I didn't know that - thanks! :)
Chuck is the real king

How many people wanted to sing Surfin USA?
Michael Langley The Beach Boys, Jan and Dean and any other surf sounders took their stuff straight from Chuck!
Michael Langley ! do you know who wrote Sweet Little Sixteen ?? so The beach boys copied ! if u didnt know
The camera really doesn't like those white trousers!
@EnriqueBerry Thank you!!!
😆😀😁😂😊😊😊
1:29 Dry crowd better bust out the showstopper!
♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
The each Boys used Chuck Berry's groove for "Surfing USA." Chuck never got the credit...
gloriaartist1 yes he did -_- he won a lawsuit and now has writing credits
😀😁😁😂😂
@manfreadstraw let me see if i remember and get hold of a copy... thanks.
😀😁😁😁
Were the beachboys inspired by this? Surfing USA sounds almost the same (speaking of chords, rhythm, melody)...
Yep! Brian Wilson wrote the lyrics to Surfin' USA and sampled just about all of Sweet Little Sixteen. This happens a lot more often than you'd think, e.g. The Beatle's Lady Madonna (1968) and Sublime's What I Got (1996) to name one.
So check out Sweet Little Sixteen done by Ten Years After. It really rocks
Lol, i didn't know about that one, ;) !!
无与伦比!
the beach boys "surfin usa" sound like the same melody. they may have ripped that shit off not that i'm dissing the beach boys
they did
They credited him on the record, and he got the royalties. So what's the problem??
Who band backed all these singers
In Brisbane they walked out after his guitar was off key and he argued with the house band

Movie recorde de volume

I think its the Palais.
Rod Laver Arena
Flinders Park Tennis Centre back then
fun night... was quick.. and drummer was awful but was good to get to see him
WHY wouldn't you have the balls to diss a bunch of rip off artists...Didn't change a THING, but surfin' words...THEFT, pure and simple...
would it of mattered lol
Schade,for me littl mohr Rhytm..
Пластика!
Chuck's studio sessions were great - his live performance just sucked.
Check out Chuck Berry Belguim performance 1965 he's only 36 in that one
