    Jaejoong and Junsu were (and still) the most popular members of TVXQ. Domestically Junsu was the most popular member, while Jaejoong was the most popular member globally, in Japan people used to know and recognize Jaejoong even more than his own group TVXQ. the 2 of them contributed so much to the success TVXQ enjoyed, not only on terms of popularity and the huge fandom each of them brought to the group but also talent wise. 80% of the songs lines were sung by JaeSu. Them going against the giant company in the entertainment industry and save idols from slaves contracts, didn't even stop their success. their never-promoted solos were huge success, while blacklisted from music shows, they enjoyed ambassadorships of many brands, cuz blacklisting never stopped their popularity thanks to their talend and hardwork. I remember how JYJ were always the fastest act to sell out Tokyo domes in Kpop history, were also the only 2nd generation act to perform each comeback in the prestigious Seoul Gasmil outdour Stadium, all of that while being totally bullied by the whole industry managers...it's always amazing to look back at how powerful they were not only in TVXQ days but also JYJ days and their solo work. Truly once in a lifetime

      All the scandals that happened to JYJ expecially might be created by the big company to get back to them.

      Technically, all JYJ members are the backbone of TVXQ back then (no hate towards the current members) more popular than the current TVXQ lineup and i think Yoochun is the most popular member, domestically, because he was once known for his visual shock and his well-mannered

    eventhough i have stanned them since 2006, I never understood the extend of their legal battles because I was a kid then, I thought there was only 1 lawsuit, I know SM has been blacklisting them but I did not know they literally spent the company's revenue, put in SO MUCH EFFORT just to destroy JYJ. honestly JAESU endured so much, I wish for nothing but good things to happen to them

    • @JaejoongTeam
      @JaejoongTeam Месяц назад +15

      No there’s more than one lawsuits. In Korea & in Japan. Also even when JYJ won, $M appealed again and again to drag JYJ activities. Therefore even the court ruled JYJ won and $M had to pay them the loss + not interfering their activities. The appeal actions never ending. Ultimately JYJ settled with them no payment needed and went separate ways. Only the court rules no interference + the JYJ law passed but still the trio was blacklisted no way to appear on tv for about 15 years.

    They are survivors, and their legacy lives on in what they helped establish for future K-pop groups. Thank you. These reports help bring them to the forefront again, and younger generations of fans are finding them and enjoying their music. Jaejoong and Junsu epitomize what a true IDOL should be. We may not be able to enjoy TVXQ as a whole anymore, but we can enjoy their past hits and cheer on their solo careers. ❤

    @kimjaejoongthelegendarykin7362 Месяц назад +48

    Actually the contract wasn't 13 years extended but 15 years. SM added a clause to the extended 13 years contract that it doesn't include 2 years of military service which makes it 15 years long (if all the members enlisted at the same time becuz obviously if they don't it will be even longer). Jaejoong talked about this point in one of his interviews.

    it’s crazy that SM took time out of their schedule (lol) to sabotage JYJ instead of giving the duo a comeback. they really saw them as a threat. jaesu were probably some of the most popular members at the time, and they’re naturally very talented. i think the 3 did want to stay as tvxq and still cared for/liked homin but during the lawsuit homin’s parents started attacking their character due to the cosmetics business and other issues, so i’m sure that drove a wedge between them. jyj still speak fondly of the duo though and wish them all the best. i haven’t heard homin reference jaesu directly though. a lot of SM artists called jyj traitors, so maybe homin thought of them that way as well. i also think they shouldn’t have kept the tvxq name after jyj left since ot5 is such a core part of their foundation and identity but i know SM wants to keep that brand recognition, so they would never change homin’s duo name. nowadays SM just seems to rely on the duo’s already established fanbase rather than trying to gain new fans for them. with jaejoong and junsu they’re getting more chances to appear on tv but i still want to see them on shows like immortal songs, masked singer, and music shows. just them interacting with juniors and their contemporaries on different shows. not being able to appear on tv (besides dramas) definitely stifled their momentum all these years. luckily jaejoong has jaefriends now, and junsu still has musicals. i think if tvxq stayed as ot5 they would’ve gained even more fans right after mirotic and maybe even tried to do a western expansion but SM had to be greedy and unreasonable when it came to contract negotiations, so they ruined a good thing they had going for them

    I'm so proud of those 3 young men who put their entire careers on the line to speak out against the industry. They literally lost more than a decade of active time fighting against that awful system.
    However, I still have no idea about the full extent of the Yoochun situation. I do know that it was way more complicated than this vid makes it seem. One SA allegation was recanted, another allegation was impossible bc he was out of the country, etc. Another allegedly admitted to making an allegation so she could meet him. It was a mess but he was cleared. He was also never convicted of a crime. His scandal happened around the same time as scandals around the infamous Dairy Queen (they were allegedly dating) and Samsung's scandals (they're notorious for hyping idol scandals in the news to cover their scandals). I don't think we'll ever know what fully happened unless he decides to speak.

    JYP allowed GOT7 to keep their name. YG allowed blackpink members to established their own labels and freely have their solo careers.
    Big Hit Entertainment let loose members of BTS on RUclips and Twitter to communicate directly with fans and anyone who decide to watch them.
    Meanwhile, SM is still doing their old tricks today. Spending more money destroying their own group rather than have the group make money for someone else. Today they have the power of Kakao as their new owner.
    Will CBX be able to free themselves from SM? Why don’t they drop the name CBX so they can be left alone to create music? 😢
    The South Korean music industry is so corrupt. What chance do young people and idols have without proper legal representations against the whole kpop industry? From what I understand, the record for biggest fanclub was never actually published in the Guinness Book of World Records, but in 2008, a fan posted online about an official Guinness World Record text service called "Textperts", which was advertised on the books and only available in the UK, that you could text to ask questions about who holds a certain record (it's an old Soompi forum post but unfortunately I can't link it or RUclips will delete this comment). The photo shows that the fan had texted asking "Who has the largest official fanclub" and the response they got was "According to Guinness World Records, Asia's Top Artists group, TVXQ, known as Cassiopeia has the biggest fanclub of an artist." They then sent another question asking "How many members are in the world's largest official fanclub?" and the response was "Cassiopeia -- the fanclub of Asian group TVXQ -- consist of over 800,000 official members."
      However, the TVXQ Wikipedia page says: "Guinness World Records later stated that "[w]e currently have a category for the largest fanclub for a group, but no record has yet been set and we haven't been provided with any evidence." I tried to access the linked source for that statement, but it looks like you need to register to access the Wiki portal where the evidence was submitted, and I can't find any other info online about it. If anyone has any more info about this, I would love to know more.

I believe the Korean fans could register as an official member of Cassiopeia on a website, and that's where they got the figure of 800,000 from. Mind you, that was only the number of *officially registered* fans in Korea - not even counting Korean TVXQ fans who weren't registered, international fans, or their Japanese fanclub, Bigeast, which is a behemoth in itself. Taking all of that into account, I can definitely believe they had the world's biggest fanclub at the time.

      Regarding the whole "world record for having the biggest fanclub" issue: it's all a bit vague. Back in the day, the story used to be that TVXQ held the Guinness World Record in 2008 for having the biggest official fan club in the world, Cassiopeia, with 800,000 registered members. It later became apparent that the record was never actually published in the Guinness Book of World Records, but then a fan posted online about what was supposedly an official Guinness World Record text service called "Textperts", only available in the UK, which was advertised on the books that you could text to ask questions about who holds a certain record. The fan then sent another question asking "How many members are in the world's largest official fan club?" and the response was "Cassiopeia -- the fan club of Asian group TVXQ -- consist of over 800,000 official members."
      However, the TVXQ Wikipedia page says this: "Guinness World Records later stated that "[w]e currently have a category for the largest fanclub for a group, but no record has yet been set and we haven't been provided with any evidence." There's no celebrity who doesn't have families running business and having pics of their celebrity kids hanging on the wall, so how can that business be a problem in first place, let alone be the reason of a big lawsuit. Btw SM was charged for defamation after trying to say the cosmetic business of YooSu families was the problem. The court said it has no relationship, and SM was definitely making defamation and they got them charged.
