      It’s so satisfying isn’t it! I was using it at around 900-1100 and no one was falling for it but finally got two people with it in the last couple days.

      @@gardenmenuuu What I notice is that in the second move I can find nothing better than capturing that pawn and when he recaptures with queen and you attack the queen with knight, he doesn't put the queen back on d8 and puts it somewhere else so I usually exchange the queen's and I am usually more comfortable playing when queens are exchanged and I usually win

    Learned a ton! I play those first two moves when i'm black. I usually don't take the pawn because I'm skeptical. But now, I know what white can do lol Awesome video! Keep it up.

    Recently played a game with a buddy who plays 1e4, d5 regularly. The b4 trap was devastating, he was totally lost in a few moves. Awesome and very easy to understand instructional video!

    Just came across this video. I had seen the technique on other sites, but I believe IM Rosen was the first I've seen to put it out. About the trap, I really like how you explain what happens if black does NOT fall for the trap. Other people just march on as if it's inevitable for black to fall for it, but in many of my games I'm ready to spring the trap when the other person goes "off script". Nicely done, Eric. And very glad you kept at it and continued making videos.

    Wow I just wanted to know how to play against the scandi and this was the first video when I searched. Crazy I just stumbled on Erics first instructional video. I love this guy and he inspired me to start chess a couple years ago and I played the Stanford gambit almost exclusively my first couple years because of him.

I have an Opening request: Can you make a video showing the Max Lange Attack and/or Italian italian koltanowski gambit?     Knight A6 completely prevents the fork threat which is unaddressed in this video. I'm my opinion, this is probably the most common response. Whats the best play for white in that situation?

    Could you cover some ideas behind the main Fried Liver deffence line? I know the d4 push is crucial, but after the Bb5+ pawn exchange, I always hate the position. Thanks!

      Sure! I actually covered an interesting line for black against Fried Liver in a recent video on the STL Chess Club RUclips Channel. It's called "Beat Fischer, Karjakin, & Kummer."
      I may make video expanding further on the options for black since there are a good deal of complications in many lines.

    Hello Eric, I was looking for the most tricky response to the Scandinavian and I found this video very interesting, but I wondered if I can actually apply this idea to a correspondence game. I’m asking because unlike any other time control with the correspondence format you have more time to ponder your moves and your opponent would have more chances of refuting this idea.     What if at 2:43 black plays Qe4 and checks? To me it seems that black can make the time to move the king to D-file and thus breaking the threat from the white knight.

      I know this is a bit late, but I think the check isn’t that scary and you can just block it and the queen might still be out in the open afterwards. Plus, you will get slightly more development.

    Gothamchess just dropped an in depth guide to the Scandinavian where black plays queen H5, so now almost every one of my 1300 games is people playing this opening. Really glad I found this early video by one of my all time favourite chess guru's!

      There are tons of traps in the Sicillian for both sides! What variation of the Sicillian do you play? I'll look into compiling the most common traps into one video.

      Hey I've been playing the open sicilian. Mostly the dragon variation because i like I fianchettoing my black square bishop as black. But I noticed after 1. e4, c5 2. Nf3, d6 alot of opponents respond with 3. Bc4 then I'm quite not sure what to do...

    My opponent played Knight to a6 :( I lost on cause I couldn't remember what to do.
    I remembered you telling this trap briefly in a St Louis lecture, so I googled, and I was surprised to find this was your first video ever.

    2:32 black can just go Na6 and it prevents the whole gambit, why is qa5 the best move? After na6, white goes rb1 and the queen just moves

      Yeah Na6 also feels more natural because it develops a piece and neutralizes the threat.

    2 things.
    1. I almost never see QA5 be played. I always get checked and move my bishop.
    2. Knight A6 seems to stop this dead in its tracks

    On move 6, if black plays Nf6 or Nc6, then it stops all of your attacks...

    With this variation what would be the possible continuation 1. e4 d5 2. exd5 Qxd5 3. Nc3 Qa5 4. b4 Qxb4
    5. Nb5 Qa5 6. Bc4 e6 7. Bb2 Qb4
