I, personally, like a longer format. I love seeing 30-minute+ runtimes on rating-climb videos. Obviously do what's best for your schedule and channel. But if you're asking for opinions, I'll throw in my vote for the "multiple games per video" side.

    • @joeyparker2528

I agree, but I also like this series. I like that Eric has variable video times. But the extras channel is the kind of content that got me hooked. Just 3 hours of straight chess, ideally 10-minute games. I just like the pacing and explanations Eric is able to do in 10-minute games, however many there are

I have watched all 14 videos now and for some reason I am enjoying chess much more. I believe it is the calmness and slow speaking, is where it gives me more time to dwell on the moves and learn from. In my view all the other chess masters making videos overwhelme me with too much fast speaking. This is a joy to learn from.

1000-1400 is where you see the Stafford quite a bit. At least in blitz. Problem is that above 1300 most people knows the "refutation", but against that I just play Jonathan Schranz "magical" line, which is very dubious, but leads to some wildly entertaining games and surprisingly often wins. I think I win more in the magical line than I lose.

This game is a great example of why the "70% of games are lost because of tactics" statistics are misleading. Sure, you technically won by a tactic, but you really won from the strategic domination. Good strategy is what gives you more chances to win with tactics.

For me, analysing the game a bit further afterwards if you chose to leave the episode at one game would work even better (probably no coincidence that it becomes more similar to Danya's episodes :D).
Anyway, cool game, was really impressed by how the opponent played! No huge mistakes for a long time I thought. Sure a6 was slow, but they played to the needs of the position in a lot of ways

Most people never know until one pops and when it happens, that is instantaneous and can be catastrophic.
