This setup has worked like a charm for me. I've won about at least 90% of my games against the Scandinavian thanks to this and it still works to date. Only thing I got to worry about usually is how cocky I get when I see them play d5 now

5:15 C3 knight to D5 would be crushing, i dont know if he showed it or not im just pointing it out, because it would make him have to move his queen into unpleasant squares, and your knight is defending B6 and C7, it also stops him from going to A6 because your move your knight to C7 checking him and talking his queen.
Right at the end when the knight takes the pawn 9:40,, I was hoping you'd show how to keep pressing an attack if Black tries to force a queen exchange (Qe5).... It feels like the natural thing for black to do when up material. It seems like the best white can do is trade the queens, trade the knight for a rook, and then the attack is over. Anyway, nice video!
I know I am 9 months late, but in case some other person comes along this with a similar question... I recommend Nc7+, forking king and rook. Once the king moves, trade queens then take their rook. The ending position has you up a rook and 2 pawns for the bishop. While your knight will probably fall in the end, you can use the tempo to bring your rooks into the game by long castling and putting pressure on the center since black has no central pawns. The position is practically equal by computer, but much easier to play for white than black at most levels. Good luck!
Thanks Igor. I like the look of this line. As you explained I too often run out of ideas after the standard few Scandi moves, so its nice to have some sort of vague plan.
When I was playing seriously and opened e4, I had a more or less 100% record against the Scandi using the opposite plan to this - the big centre variation, which is characterised by playing c4 before Nc3. This catches a lot of players out at club+social level as black's best plan is typically different from the usual Scandi moves, often involving bringing the queen to the kingside rather than a5 or d8 and even after that, white retains a small plus. One of my favourite tournament games occurred in the 2...Nf6 version of this line, where I sacced a pawn, a piece, an exchange and a queen (declined) for a brutal win. The actual main line, which the video carefully avoided mentioning, involves combining tactics on the e1-a5 diagonal with the d5 pawn break. I recommend e4 players to look into all 3 of these variations to find out which one suits their playing style best. The d3 line in itself is not a panacea, since if black plays properly against it it only really leads to equality.

I dont understand at 8:20 why is black not pinning your knight as he planed in the previous assumptions? I wouldnt move the 2nd Black knight. I would just move the bishop a second time ,now to g4 ,and your whole plan is crushed?

i suggest you review the kholmov gambit off of the petrov, its a nice low risk gambit that can lead to some traps if white gets too greedy. if they arent greedy, the game usually results in an opposite side castling game where black has a few extra pieces developed.
I rarely face the scandinavian defence these days. I always play c4(english) or d4(positional play). e4 is not my most popular choice cause I find the spanish and italian game very common and boring. These openings have been more familiar to players in my FIDE tournaments. I might be keen to learning the vienna opening to add to my opening repertoires[Queens Gambit(catalan variation), Nimzo Indian(all variations and theory have been studied by me so I'm very familiar with such positions), the English Opening and Sicilian(Najdorf variation)]
@@canonjean-mignon4985 I'm not a fan of gambling pawns for strong initiatives because you have to play really accurately for compensation. Vienna is worth exploring. I don't like facing into sicilian games as white so I'm not a fan of e4.
@@canonjean-mignon4985 potentially, but as a competitive FIDE Chess player, I'd rather gain positional and stable advantages as compared to wild tactical games regarding the pawn sacrifise for a strong initiative.

What I do is play Nf3, Be2 and then short castles. Generally people leave there Queen on the d5 square from where you can play c4, d4, Nc3 (not necessarily in that order) and basically harass the Queen all over the board.
What about if black plays a6? What is the counter, trying to figure out cause im a scandinavian player and after deep analysis with the engine it seems that a6 is the most correct response, after d3 to begin with so yeh im pretty curious what white would attempt to do to counter it so i can figure out the best ways to continue after that
after nf3, bg4 isnt there h3 bh5 g4 bg6, and since black develops the knight to f6 early in the scandinavian, nh4 is winning the bishop while doubling whites pawns?
My score after 10 games is 1, means I lost most of my games in this variant. The problem is, the positions presented here just never came. Esp nobody played Bg4. And playing these unknown positions need an awful lot of experience to know where the up’s and downs are hidden. So for the average player like me it might be better to stick to the main variants that he already knows. Calculating deep tactics on the board is difficult for a player of that category which means that he will end up being trapped more than he will set traps.

I think White struggles a lot with the c6 gambit instead of Qxd5; would be nice to see something against that. This is solid approach though.

What if on 8:27 they would pin the knight instead of play own knight?
After Qe2, the e7 pawn becomes automatically pinned. Black’s Nbd7 loses instantly to Nb4! No need pushing too many pawns
