When I saw a french defense my brain immediately categorized the game as a draw. Hearing Ding won made me so genuinely happy for the guy. I hope this was the ice breaker he needed.

You have this fascinating ability to take an immensely complicated chess position that could probably have an essay written about it and distill it into the understandable "king is just a chill guy" comment. Amazing work dude, love the content!
This was a fantastic first game. Levy is right to call it cinematic. It was dramatic to witness the inner struggle of a great mind. The man on the brink of collapsing, almost to the point that his demise seemed inevitable, overcomes triumphantly to reclaim his position as champion. Ding has a story, we may not know all the details, but his story, his struggle, his world championship are very compelling. Ding deserves a special place in sports history. I tried to tell people this match wasn’t gonna be a blowout. Especially with the extensive prep from both teams. Gukesh didn’t even play poorly he just crumbled under time pressure he’s not dead yet. This is gonna be a fight and I love it.
