They originally debuted in august 1 2014 with 4 members Irene Seulgi Wendy and Joy, while Yeri debuted in Ice cream cake mv era cause she's too young to debut in 2014 but she's in the happiness mv if you will look on the lips in the opening scene and you're wondering why happiness amd automatic is different it's because they have 2 sides which is "red" side experiments occasionally with electronic, funk and hip hop, colorful, quirky, while their "velvet" side focuses on '90s-influenced R&B with elements of ballad, jazz, myaterious and mature but remember these 2 sides can be mixed to form a Red and Velvet side
I think this huge difference between some mvs is probably because of their concept of the "red side" and the "velvet side". The bsides are very good and they are like that too. I've also accepted that nothing is normal in their mvs, I don't even question it anymore lol 😆😆

It's probably because of how much I love r&b music but automatic still remains one of my favorite title tracks from RV after all these years. So Irene, being an AMAZING leader, publically said that they had not actually OFFICIALLY debuted until Yeri was able to join them. By Irene's logic, all the other OT4 stuff before that was just really good pre-debut content. This protected Yeri as much as Irene possibly could, after-the-fact, from the goddamned trigger-happy haters. We love Irene for it.
Agreed. Some so called "fans" seem to easily adopt a despicable attitude towards idols, who did nothing wrong. Yeri didn't force anyone out and take her place. The line up was just completed with her. And yes, Irene did what she could, and thankfully we have never been worried about the other girls welcoming her. She has (in my eyes) been the missing puzzle piece, and the rest of the group have loved her since day one.
every song is different in red velvet's discography. they remain as one of the top kpop groups because of their versatility and not going by the norm or trend in music, they always bring something new to the table.
“Theres a lot thats happening” - this is gonna be a staple line whenever you watch a red velvet mv or when you listen to their music. I gotta admit, Red Velvets discography is top tier. Very diverse and pleasing to the ears especially when youre not boxed into a certain genre. Whats more amazing is that Red Velvet is capable of doing them because their vocals and range in music is wide as well. :)

They did debut with only 4 members because Yeri was too young to debut and the company wanted to wait another year. To Red Velvet, 2015 is their actual debut because it was OT5 finally together and also they got their first #1 and won music shows. They released ICE CREAM CAKE and AUTOMATIC like a double title track in a way. I also want to say that they have a concept I don't know if you knew this already or not but they have a Red side which is more poppy, bright, bold, and the abstract side and the Velvet side is more mature, elegant, and Smooth R&B! I also want to say that you did get everyone right (Yes the one rapping at first in Ice Cream Cake was Irene) and the Member that you have been talking about that joined was Yeri the Maknae (she was too young to join at the time, but in Happiness at the beginning you can see her kind of in the middle at the bottom and for Ice Cream Cake I'm pretty sure they showed a trailer for her to show a new Member joined), and at 10:30 Yep that was Wendy she looked AMAZING with both blonde and red hair not sure which one I liked more maybe the red... but not sure and even though Happiness was weird and the lyrics were odd I still think it's pretty iconic like hello the "Shine on me" part will never get old especially to watch people react to it because they get so shocked (I have to say Wendy is my favourite Vocalist in K - Pop for many reasons, you should definitely check out some stuff from her if you haven't yet!) In the beginning, I think they tried to release 2 MV to showcase their red and velvet sides. For debut, they had Happiness (red) and then they released Be Natural (velvet) before Yeri debuted. But you can actually see Yeri in the MV for Happiness in the beginning. Then Automatic (velvet) and Ice Cream Cake (I like to think it is a velvety red).
