The reason red has more songs (promoted ones) is mainly due to yeri being so young they didn't want her to project a mature image you can really see how they started to fully explore that side in main tracks after she was over 18.

“Be Natural” is actually a cover/remake of an SES (1st Gen SM girl group) song. The chair choreo is also actually from a predebut video that Irene and Seulgi did, to the very same song, too.
As a reveluv who have nothing but love to their earlier works its just pains me to see red velvet in the eyes of public are just represented with their popular works such as red flavor, bad boy, and psycho. So you guys reacting to their discography chronologically is a delight.

I hope Kess & Han realize that the powerhouse vocal "Shine On Me" part at the end of "Happiness" was our Wendy introducing herself to the world of Kpop. She looked so different 8 years ago I'm not sure if K&H picked up on that.

Red Velvet has discographies that are never boring. There may be some least good songs but they don't have any bad song. I believe since their spectrum is so wide, we can't just put them in a 'K-pop' box. RV is RV, they got their own genre.
Yes their B sides are similiar to this, a lot of R&B feel and velvety harmonization, its gonna melt your ears. Red Velvet is an S tier group that while popular they still feel under rated. They should easily be top 3 in popularity I think. Just 5 visual main vocalists who occasionally wanna kill each other or the pizza guy, no big deal.
They r in the top 3 gg of 3rd gen alongwith BP nd Twice, nd is known as The Nation's Pride group.Also, people refer to them as the trinity.The reason RV feels underrated is due to the fact that BP nd Twice r way more popular than them, nd some of the new gg are soaring in popularity.But we all know RV is a whole another class in excellence nd its so satisfying to watch when new Reveluvs r falling in love deeper with each songs they listen to.I hd been stuck with only 3 Kpop groups for a longtime, nd as I discovered RV, my whole idea about Kpop changed nd RV became my ultimate KPOP group, with Wendy as my ultimate bias in KPOP, each day falling more and more in love with her.RV also paved the way for me to have the desire to discover other groups, nd now I Stan 15 Kpop groups🙃.RV luv❤

@@themastermind5638 Yes indeed, 5 queens💖.Mamamoo is a whole another level , their dscography being the top for me alongwith RV nd Dreamcatcher.I know GFriend is very popular bt hvnt heard many songs of them.Hv heard a couple of their songs which i really liked a lot, nd they r indeed talented.I think since GFriend disbanded, among the active gg of 3rd gen, Dreamcatcher comes in the 5th place.They r in a position like when we see youtube reactions, they r super popular but hv less views nd hv less listeners on audio platforms.They r easily one of the best gg in KPOP currently, nd just like RV nd Mamamoo, their discography is a rabbit hole. once u go in, theres no return.

The members have designated colours, which are the same ones they have on their hair during their debut.

Seulgi: Yellow
Wendy: Blue
Joy: Green
Yeri: Purple (given to her after her later debut)
It be helpful for you guys to remember them since till this day they use them, as example, the Birthday special albums had a different version per member and they were their designated colours, same with the keychain like mini albums and the digipack versions.
Also the members solos are their respective colours too, with the "exception" of Seulo who took gold instead of yellow but it's pretty much the same imo. They also have fruits and they relate to their colours too but I won't spoil it for you hahaha
1 random thing that RV does is almost every video features a dinner table... Watch for it as you go through the videos.
Fun fact in Happiness, in the opening scene where the camera pans through the jungle with the bird, you can find Yeri's face smiling at you. So she was actually in the MV in a way haha
classy. if i have to define red velvet with only one word, it would be classy. they are classy. everything about them is classy. their song, their dance, their vocals and their vibes. ugh
I love their Velvet side, the Red side is a bit hit or miss for me, but they are known as the Queens of B-sides, honestly a lot of them are better than the title tracks. I was a bit ho-hum on them, but then I watched Automatic, and that locked me in. They have some really awesome R&B tracks. Videos are always quirky, and you can't really put Red Velvet in the k-pop box, there is not another group like them.
Red Velvet dominates any concept, they are original and TOO ATTRACTIVE. Her visuals do not go unnoticed, they are the definition of talented and beautiful. Red Velvet is undoubtedly one of SM's best creations.

Red Velvet and Mamamoo are considered by many to be the vocal queens of 3rd Gen. IMO Red Velvet’s “velvet” sound is more R&B where Mamamoo’s sound is more jazz/soul. Red Velvet is known for having strong harmonies that are nothing short of heavenly. Red Velvet are the B-SIDE QUEENS and their discography will take you On A Ride through multiple concepts and sounds. They’re the most versatile KPOP GG and my absolute FAVES! Everyone is shocked by Red Velvet’s vocals even after watching a guide video. The duality always catches people off guard. I thought you two would be less surprised after hearing Psycho and Zimzalabim. Automatic is probably the most velvet song and Red Flavor is the definition of red songs. When it comes to discography (120+ songs) Red Velvet never misses. You will find yourself wondering how each and every song is so great. RV’s B-Sides would be other groups lead singles. By next week you’ll be ReVeluv’s. I think Wendy will be your bias. One of the nicest fandom out there. Every K-Pop group loves the girls as you will by week two. Sunny Side Up, Sassy Me, LaRouge, Ladies Night and Pose will reset your idea of K-Pop. Enjoy the ride.

Be Natural is a cover/revival song from their senior group, SES. This is an SM tradition when debuting new groups. Girls Generation did a cover for 'Girls Generation' and Aespa did 'Dreams Come True'
Meanwhile, 'Automatic' is a double title track with Ice Cream Cake. Obviously, ICC was the main promoted song then.
They are known for having the best discographies in KPOP. Most of their b-sides literally deserves as a title track. Their vocals are so versatile yet compliment each other very well that's why they can pull off any concept with ease. Listen to their 2022 releases; the ReVe Festival Finale and the ReVe Festival 2022. It's the perfect example of their concept versatility and vocal ability. The flavors they add to the song is what makes it worth stanning. They're just the best group ever for me
'Be Natural' was originally by S.E.S. (Sea, Eugene, Shoo) in 2000 but love RV's rendition just as much as the original.

Since their debut, they said how talented and amazing artists they are. I love them for that kind of taste versatility they have but it's all about how hard they work and how much effort they put into all their stuff (you can check it out in their recording behind videos), even the corky ones. Many people say that they don't have a specific genre because "Red Velvet is a genre".

Red Velvet's Automatic has a dark and mature color in the music video so that we can incorporate hundreds of messages that we came up with into this music video, but we've actually missed out on the important details that make up a special story that this music video wants to deliver. This is an interesting story that you probably won't be able to get it out of your mind after reading this article.
The hairstyles, costumes of the members of the same film country and decorations will remind us of mature housewives who are gathered together in a dark European style house.
The beginning of the music video was when Seulgi was standing by the window and the sink and the dishwasher on her hands to show that the space she was standing in was a kitchen. Then she walked outside, before having dinner with her sisters, Seulgi leaned over on the sofa and looked up at the ceiling with a thoughtful look before leaning over to put the spaghetti dish on the table.
The camera moves the scene to the table, keeping an eye on the table, including fish, meat, soup, bread, fruits, tea and wine. These are the things a housewife who is good at housework can prepare completely. This section aims to define the overall meaning and image of girls' circumstances and ages in the entire music video.
On their heads is a rotating naked lamp, indicating their mood, thoughts, consciousness that is always connected and swirling together. To make it easier for you to imagine, Lee will show you this detail, take a closer look when the girls sit at the table, they just keep quiet, eat and don't talk to each other but their eyes are all directed at each other in a hidden way. When the girls get together, a real mental power emerges, it's so powerful that they just look at each other that they know what other people are thinking and want.
In the next scene, the ceiling light stopped spinning, Seulgi left the table and the girls continued their dinner. To make us understand, this scene is the actual scene and the previous scene is the description of where the five girls think.
Seulgi came to the glass sink. There, you're looking back at yourself.
Seulgi started turning the exhaust valve, which means she wants to wash away what her hands just did. Lee thinks maybe you're getting a little bit right now, huh?
Wendy, who goes through the glass where Seulgi is standing, is another way for viewers to understand that Wendy knows Seulgi's mind besides Irene.
Skipping the dance, we continue to the scene of Yeri, behind her is a large bookcase with famous old books. This is to give a better sense of Yeri's personality and role inside this house. Yeri is a wise, inquisitive person, so she is also smart enough to understand what's going on in her house. On Yeri's neck was a string of beads on her crucifixion to emphasize that she was a devout, religious and rightful person in life. Next, she took out a book to expose a light behind the shelf, and it was the light from the car parked behind the bookshelf, which was the image of Yeri knowing what was going on and running away from the house.
Besides the book Yeri has just taken out is a big book called 'Glorier Classic,' which is a book containing 10 different volumes, each of which will be a collection of popular literary works linked by theme. And Yeri's book has the back of it: Crime and Punishment, The Diary of Samuel Pepys, The White House of Saint Augustino and the Abandoned Paradise. These are historical figures and books related to important religious events that author Fyodor Dostoevsky compiled at the beginning of this book. After this information, you will realize that religious colors have been skillfully incorporated into this music video to highlight how contrasting good and evil is. And you can also see another side of the cross hanging inside the car of five girls in the next scene.
So what did they all learn?
There's a killer inside this house.
In the next scene, a flash of memory in black-and-white film is slowed down to show how happy girls used to be. They dance happily and perhaps this is the only scene where their smiles appear.
In the next scene, Joy curls herself on an empty bed but is spread on top of a floor mat rather than a bedspread. This is Joy leaving the world after dinner at the beginning of the music video.
Joy is the next person to leave the group and walk up the stairs, the music video changes, and she walks down a dark room with scary red and pink neon lights with strangers dancing around like a nightclub. Wendy appeared in the middle of the crowd with her eyes immersed in makeup that could not be more mushy, along with the part where she sang "just hold on" made the scene even more thrilling.
This will be understood that where Wendy and Joy just arrived is Hell, which is not for innocent souls, so what mistake did they make?
Remember the black and white part, you'll only see Wendy and Joy laughing, and it doesn't seem like they really blend into the serious atmosphere of the rest of the girls. They've gone out of their way and made a mistake.
Then trouble followed trouble, mistake followed mistake and forced Seulgi to make a final decision for all five. Let's look back at Seulgi's regretful eyes as if she was begging for forgiveness from Thank You Top while leaning back on the sofa before putting spaghetti dishes on the dinner table.
Seulgi is the one who cooks dinner and also the one who poisoned other girls. Although they all felt something was wrong, Seulgi couldn't stop it because she was the only one with the quiet and least expressive mind among the five, who was unexpected. And you're the only one who doesn't eat anything on the table.
After watching Wendy and Joy sink into Hell, Seulgi ran away in a panic.
And the next scene is Irene, who is heading to Heaven full of light, which is also a representation of Irene, who first realizes everything at the table but accepts to let go because she's tired of life.
Next, the music video showed a different side after Seulgi realized that what she just did was a mistake she shouldn't make.
The water in the sink receded into the exhaust valve, Seulgi sat back in the chair, the girls dropped their forks and stopped touching the food. The actions are rewinded one by one and the time is going back to before the mistake.
The last scene is Seulgi standing in the kitchen with a plate of noodles on her hand. That's the beginning of the music video. It's time for Seulgi to fix all her mistakes and not let anyone else go.
Then what is the cause of the girls' conflict?
There's a lot to talk about, but perhaps what appears to make Lee connect it to the cause of everything is a man's voice under the background of girls' voices throughout this Automatic song. If you listen carefully, there's a male voice that goes under Red Velvet's voice. I think everything is caused by a man's feelings.
That will also make Red Velvet's MVs more cohesive as SM continuously incorporates the difficult taste of female characters into each other and dismisses all male characters' existence in future MVs.
Automatic is a prelude to Red Velvet's message of same-sex love and femininity in the future.

Revisiting both Happiness and Be Natural in this video has me reflecting on how different the kpop landscape was in 2014. The girl group fans were split into factions of "cute" and "sexy" with a lot of people being very angry about the latter being very male gaze-y while begrudgingly grumbling about how the former wasn't really an exception. At the time, even if you genuinely liked Happiness at the time of release you were most likely going to be labeled a no-brain SM stan because it broke away from the mainstream so hard and it was just a lot of audio-visual stimuli to take in. Keep in mind this was THE year before the kpop world hard swung into the tropical house genre.
(I've deleted the drama bits of RV's history from my mind, so there's some exhausting context missing around the stuff that happened before and around their debut, but yeah.)

I haven't been this exited about a new group deep dive, since you guys started with the DC one, very looking forward for the ride.
I think that is Yeri walking up and sitting down at the table. It is her first official appearance as a new member of Red Velvet. Although she does appear in their very first debut song MV. She is the flower girl smiling under the giant lips that say "sometimes you gotta be bold." Although the group was great before she joined. Yeri appears to be a lot of people's favorite member. I think that somehow they DO appear to be more balanced both vocally and in dance set ups with 5 members. Red Velvet is some K-pop fans top choice. I think you can see and hear why.
OH MY GOODNESS YES YES YES!! So sorry I'm late but that's okay- I was waiting for y'all to check out more Red Velvet they really are an insane group (JUST wait they have so many genres especially in their B - Sides, you guys are going to freak out), I was dying of laughter watching your reactions to the vocals/visuals/rap but to be Honest same! In Happiness (dude I still cant believe that people disliked that song I mean it's not my favorite but I still love it a lot it is very iconic not to mention Wendy's shine on me bit) the bear is actually supposed to be Yeri and also at the beginning with the lips you can actually see Yeri at the bottom of the screen, also the colors of their hair technically tells you who it is (Irene is Pink, Seulgi is Yellow, Wendy is Blue, and Joy is Green)! In Be Natural dude that whole MV is insane (and actually the choreo is one of the most difficult in K - Pop) also yes that transition from Irene's beautiful vocals to Joy's beautiful vocals and then the whole scene change was great (and the suits don't get me started). And then in Automatic I feel bad for people who tried to learn them in that Music Video- just letting you know Irene was the one who was driving the car, Seulgi was the one that started the song, Wendy is the one that you guys mentioned a lot (that you liked her hair and her eyes), Joy is the one with the more reddish hair like strawberry kind of, and Yeri was the one next to the bookshelf! Anyways I can't wait for you guys to react to more Red Velvet such as more Music Videos, B - Sides, Live Performances, Covers, Dance Practices, Moments, and of course Ships- I can't wait for more Content from you guys and I hope that you both are doing well and staying safe and healthy!

Automatic was released along side Ice Cream Cake. To which the two concepts still apply being the Red and the Velvet.
Be natural is actually a cover of SES (a gen 1 SMent group). and Automatic is one of their least popular songs (my favorite song btw). When Yeri came in their Velvet side music didn't get promoted as much so that could be the reason.
Meanwhile that bouncy pink gummy thing in Happiness, summoned back again in Birthday zapping people with lightning eyebeam. 😅 Trivia there will be round table sitting scenes or classic car riding scenes many time in their MVs.
Since the beginning they have sung for our Happiness. After couple comebacks, SM started to choose safer title tracks for popularity but fan knows the album will be full with gems.

If you like the weird stuff you might want to check out Orange Caramel and/or Crayon Pop. The former is a sub-unit of the 2nd gen group After School. The weirdest videos are for "Catallena" and "My Copycat." Crayon Pop was formed by a tiny company in 2012, and had to do a lot of busking to get recognition. They were known as the girl group with the helmets due to their stage (and MV) outfits for their breakout hit, "Bar Bar Bar." It was enough of a sensation that Lady Gaga invited them to be the opening act for her 2014 concert tour. Besides "Bar Bar Bar," you might get a kick out of "FM."
The hair colours of four of them,( Irene, Joy, seulgi and Wendy) are their representative colors. And Happiness is our favorite MV and it is also the first SM debut MV who got 100m views. And Red velvet 's choreography is always amazing and unique according to the concept ❤
I’ve been in K-pop since 2007 and Red Velvet has one of the best discographies. People underestimate them because they see more of their Red side in promotions but their b-sides will change your whole view of their range.
What might be crystal clear is that "happiness" is a surreal multiverse of themselves in cheerleader outfits in many different fruit image environments. The thing about Red Velvet is that whatever the concept is,.. cute, alluring, soft, hard, quirky,....they not only embrace it,.. they embody it in their music. How many different sides could they have?? You just got a taste of it in THIS reaction. They've got the chops for each different style here.

Yes they do have a lore and it's kinda too hard to explain since there's a lot of theories about it but you can check 'The Story of Reve' comics officially released by RV. A youtube channel Bubbleflexe uploaded a motion comic version for it as well.
A fun fact: the video for Be Natural, was filmed in one take. Yes, one take. Hard to believe. I think they might have a video of behind the scenes for this. Another fact, sad though it is, this was a abside and was not popular at all in Korea. Sm did a disservice to Red Velvet, by not promoting this song to the rest of the world.

Going down the Red Velvet rabbit hole is not something you'll regret. Don't forgot to check out their legendary B-sides such as Kingdom Come, So Good & Body Talk and their Japanese realeases as well such as Wildside (instant favourite). Outside of music, they are hilarious to watch, especailly their Level Up! Project series which have them travelling overseas and finding new ways to troll each other XD.
