@@matrothwell7461 Yeah, this is why Andy's demos are the best. He actually listens to what the pedal does and plays appropriate material to highlight that. To me this is a better demo than the official Earthquaker one.
Holy crap. Never really considered this pedal. But I just got my purple Plumes a minute ago, and paged through the catalog while waiting in my car and decided to listen to more EQD demos. Starting out with Portishead might have just sold me on this. I was in the market for a more traditional reverb pedal, but this thing almost writes songs on its own.
This guitar player is so inspiring! every demo he does has something... the playing, the songs he picks, always surprising but in a good way, there's another video featuring "yet again" a song by Grizzly Bear that i like so much, i never thought it would be chosen for a pedal demo, and this video pickin portishead is another good exemple.
i bought this pedal and LOVE it. dreamy lush landscape. PROS: VERY responsive, wide variety of echo drenched delayed reverbs. GANDALF on the artwork, c'mon!! CONS: doesn't come with any kind of rubber pads on the bottom of the pedal, so it slides a bit, being VERY lightweight (thought it would be a heftier pedal). once mounted on a board this is a non issue. great boutique USA made pedal.
The second tune sounds like a very cold, foggy, and gray day in the bay.Very atmospheric pedal, i loved it, don´t even wanna ask about the price range...
This pedal sounds great, but I'm just too fond of my strymon big sky to get this one. It handles everything I want and didn't even know I wanted with a reverb!
Am I alone in wishing this had some slight modulation? Either way, this sounds so cool. I really love EQD reverb/delay effects. They have a great way of making effects that are great for writing, recording AND performing.
I do think modulation would be kinda cool, but once it starts oscillating, it kind of does a little modulating anyway. And that's the only time I'd really use any modulation.
the afterneath is a nice flashlight disguised in a pedal. i had to put _4_ layers of tape onto the LED of mine to not get blinded / need to wear really dark sunglasses while using it.
Scored a used one on ebay. It a wild pedal. Love it. Little picky about power and hot input level oscillation. But Im getting use to it. Speaking reverbbberrrrb, I bought a Hardwire Supernatural from Pro Guitar Shop. Excellent service and product. Change of topic topic topic, Andy demonstrated both the TC Alter Ego and the Digitech Obscura- which would you prefer, Sir? Anybody else tried both?
Tried both and bought both! AEx4 has great sounding delays. Really moody and atmospheric. Obscura is an amazing pedal. Delays are great and really tweakable and the infinite repeat and sound manipulation function is inspiring
On the lookout for a reverb effect that will give me those beautiful Ambient washes, so far I'm liking the Afterneath. Are there anymore I should know of?
Dogitech polara is a good slightly cheaper one, I would not recommend the Tc hall of fame for ambient stuff it's more an always on reverb. Neumaber stereo wet is also good. And Keeley just announced a limited edition shimmer reverb. With hall and reverse mode, it sounds like it might just be pretty good.
I have the neunaber.it has many types of reverb that you can tweak, u can get close to that sound with it, almost. The afterneath is one type of reverb that you can tweak in every imaginable way, but i dont see it being used as a normal reverb. The neunaber can be both, more versatility
+Tingle Triggers Go to amazon.com ASAP, it will hopefully still be up under an option for $191.25 (black Friday weekend deal only maybe), if you select that and enter in at the checkout section the PROMO code: MUSIC20OFF, it takes off 20%. I just bought one for $153 dollars not even 20 minutes ago.
Portishead was a great choice in demoing this pedal.
Totally. I love that they always match an appropriate song with the pedals instead of just playing blues licks for three minutes.
A+++++ on the Portishead pick. Not sure what effect they used on the record, but this is a good approximation.
@@matrothwell7461 Yeah, this is why Andy's demos are the best. He actually listens to what the pedal does and plays appropriate material to highlight that. To me this is a better demo than the official Earthquaker one.
Came here to say this! :)
Thanks! Would of took me a bit to figure out why that was so familiar!
Andy is love. Andy is life.
Portishead, simply stunning
It's that thing that I almost never make up my mind on a pedal until I hear Andy demo it. But I end up loving each one of them :/
Portishead!! Andy is officially the coolest demo guy on RUclips, great musical taste
I miss this channel 😞
Despite what anyone may tell you, this pedal is so incredibly fun on bass.
Oh yeah! I've got this running into DOD Meatbox esp. for massive sub-bass pulses that all the neighbours can really appreciate... ;-D
Yeah my bassist has this and it's pretty tight
I've been playing guitar for ages and this one of the coolest, most inspiring pedals I've ever owned.
props for *Portishead* in the beginning. nice pedal. nice vid.
That would sound cool with a baritone guitar.

What a beautiful dark pretty bastard of a pedal this is.
I'm starting to watch the reviews for the playing!
Sour Times. Love this tune.
I would buy this demo on vinyl. Post-rock in a Pedal.
+Gumbo72203 the first song is Portishead. Their stuff is available on vinyl!
I'm often left feeling he's far outclassed the original source material, in tone and execution. E.g., Albatross
PORTISHEAD IS MY FAVORITE! Want this pedal just for that sound.
This guy is amazing at guitar. I wish I was 25% as good. That portishead was insane
Great portishead demo
Holy Crap! I love this pedal and the fact that you are playing Portishead through it makes me want it all the more!!
Really nailed that portishead sound
NICE JOB ON THE PORTISHEAD!!!
Thank you Paul Rudd
ahahahahahahhaahahahahaha
LMAO XDDDDD
💀💀💀
Hey Andy, I am trying to learn Sour Times and struggling, if you ever have to to do a lesson it would make my day!

perfect !.
It's so dark!.
This REVEREND is one of the most comfortable guitars I have ever played.
You should do a lesson for "Sour Times", Andy! Pleassseeee!!! :-D
This would be an amazing stereo effect.
what a gorgeous demo of this pedal and of Andy's skills !
Awesome reverb and great demo as usual Andy!
I can't wait to get this and run it with my Echorec :)
Pls. report back if you do, that sounds like it would be super spacious and amazing...
YES! I am looking for a reverb to accompany my Echorec. Just sold my RV-5 and looking for a replacement. Please let us know!
It's like a mystical invisible pick Andy's using...
Thanks, Andy!
This is such a beautiful sounding pedal
Thank you Andy, your guitar playing makes my day
Man....that Sour Times....😮😮😮
Great playing 👍🏻
gorgeous reverb... and akron
Amazing how these great companies have so much to offer in the pedals they create!
Amazing sounding pedal!
what a godly sound
This sounds like a nice pedal..versatile too.
wickedly gorgeous....
Bravo for the Portishead!!!
So many great pedals! So little money!!
Portishead, great played
Simply WOW. Sounds amazing! On my need not want list for sure!
These sounds are just gorgeous. Even more gorgeous than Akron Ohio itself.
The second tune sounds like a very cold, foggy, and gray day in the bay.Very atmospheric pedal, i loved it, don´t even wanna ask about the price range...
+Demian Renegade Earthquakers are known for their gorgeous sound but hefty price tag. This pedal is $225 US
It's Duran Duran
“Dummy” turns out 28 years today and this demo came into my mind
Thanks, really enjoyed playing this one! 👊👊
He called Akron gorgeous. LIES!
A lot of Akron is actually quite pretty. It bleeds right into the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Are you from there?
Nice Portishead!
That blacked out strat, and the way it's lit, is sexy as hell. And of course the playing and review are top notch!
The Artist ...
Pedals are Andy's paints.
This pedal sounds great, but I'm just too fond of my strymon big sky to get this one. It handles everything I want and didn't even know I wanted with a reverb!
get both
Jesus dude, not even 1 minute in and you already sold me that pedal just because of Portishead
whyyyyyyyyyyy does this thing not let you do trails/buffered bypass 😭😭😭
Andy should be the only one allowed to do gear videos.
EQD is going to end up bankrupting me! Everything they make is simply fantastic!
I'm feeling more and more like a wizard.
>gorgeous Akron Ohio
Someones never been to Akron
Can this pedal do normal reverb sounds that without the swarm of delay sound
Yeah! Portishead!
Am I alone in wishing this had some slight modulation? Either way, this sounds so cool. I really love EQD reverb/delay effects. They have a great way of making effects that are great for writing, recording AND performing.

stack it!
All Hail Andy!!
I would love to try this with a Fretless Bass!
Never enough Portishead!!!!!!awesome!!!!
This would be good in a shoe-gaze rig
Yay for Portishead!
The drag knob controls the amount of Ru Paul😁
The thing I love about this pedal is that it seems to do a very subtle shimmer all on its own.
j'aime a lot your cover de portishead:3
the afterneath is a nice flashlight disguised in a pedal. i had to put _4_ layers of tape onto the LED of mine to not get blinded / need to wear really dark sunglasses while using it.
Did someone ever compare it with BOSS TE-2 ?
andy you are a beast
Yeah! Thumbs up for Portishead!
Scored a used one on ebay. It a wild pedal. Love it. Little picky about power and hot input level oscillation. But Im getting use to it. If only this had an expression pedal input..
mod it
If it goes full wet you might not even want to deal with an expression pedal.
I'm using an Option Knob on the Drag control.
WhiskeyYouth one of these days someone needs to bring back the “third hand” pedal
They just came out with one afterneathv3
Gorgeous Akron, OH?
4:47 sounds a bit like Firewatch.
that intro just killed me
On the lookout for a reverb effect that will give me those beautiful Ambient washes, so far I'm liking the Afterneath. Are there anymore I should know of?
This, the Walrus Audio Descent, and the Strymon Blue Sky are the 3 biggest contenders for ambient, washy reverb voices.
SPYDDET strymon big sky and eventide space are the big dogs. lots of reverbs in one box!
I have the polara and its incredible. I enjoy it very much
.
This. I want it.
Does Andy ever blink? Seriously, I'm worried. Outstanding guitar work, though.
actually a finer guitar track than the original Portishead.! brava, sir.
what song in the begining?
Great vid! I have the Neunaber Immerse MKII - is there any point in also purchasing pedals like the Earthquaker Afterneath and the Walrus Audio Slo?
I have the neunaber.it has many types of reverb that you can tweak, u can get close to that sound with it, almost. The afterneath is one type of reverb that you can tweak in every imaginable way, but i dont see it being used as a normal reverb. The neunaber can be both, more versatility
Is it just me or do Andy's versions sound thicker and more modern? His Mexicola sounds heavier than QOTSA, His Blew does too.
"Nobody loves me. It's true, not like you do"
at 2:19 how do you make this sound ... ?
it is possible with a Line6 dl4 ?
thx :$
My only wish would be that this pedal would be darker like the Ghost Echo. Otherwise, it seems pretty awesome.
It has a tone knob
Gorgeous isn't exactly how one would usually describe Akron
Portishead 🔥
Um, Andy plays Portishead. WHY DID I MISS THIS UNTIL NOW??
This pedal sounds amazing......how does it sound with an overdrive?
My Bloody Valentine.
Great video ¿This or supernatural reverb?
Please good sir, teach us how to play sour times properly.
Damn I need one of these things.
Damn that's a good deal.
Can someone tell me what's the second green guitar? Awesome pedal and demo, thanks!
Hey man the brand is Reverend guitars. Not sure of the model but I'm sure it's on their website.
Looks like its the Reverend Club King 290, bigsby with the roasted maple neck
Hey, that word is one that i created like a decade ago
