Excellent video. Very informative for a novice builder. 2 thumbs up! Thanks ARC.
+Dan Freed Thanks
Damn I'm glad I watch this, I just lapped, slapped, and tapped my flywheel on Wondering why the hell isn't it starting lol time to take it all apart. Thanks for the video
Mine isn’t starting either what did you do to yours
more technical videos would be awesome like a proper compression test to even properly understanding a high performance engine build. Love you guy's products and definitely look forward to using them in future engine builds 👍
Thanks again Jody !😊
Man I really wish you guys would have sent some product stickers with my ARC Billet Flywheel to put on my ride! I could see that if it was an inexpensive part, but I get lots of product stickers from parts that cost a lot less. And I really wanted to show off that I have your product on my eng
I just got mine yesterday got a sticker
Thank you very much
Informative
so if I run a key way do I need to use the degree wheel
why you place a normal key and not a key with +6 degrees?
Do I need a harmonic balancer for the arc billet flywheel?
whn you place a advance timming key how you place the key?
I came across a 12 hp briggs and stratton 31p977-0635-e1 with an ARC 6611-IV on it. The engine's not charging. Is there room under that flywheel for the alternator or would have to be removed?
thanks for this video. i installed the ARC billet flywheel today and all went well thanks to your instruction; however, the recoil starter does not work. It appears the billet flywheel is narrower than the OEM flywheel & plastic fan combo; thus the cylinder engage by the tangs on the recoil will not fit into the slots on the cylinder. Is there a replacement part or new recoil that solves this problem. Without it the engine is useless unless I rig up a rope starter. ugh!
Sound like you have a hemi predator engine. The blower housing has a different off set than a non hemi or clone engine. You will need a blower housing number DJ-1191 or DJ-1191B.
I want a billet flywheel for a 79cc predator engine.
We do not make flywheels for that engine sorry.
how heavy is the aluminiun flywheel compare to the stock ironcast?
How do I set the flywheel timing without a timing light or degree wheel
Wait, so we don;t need the keyway with the new fly wheel?
Key way is optional on any flywheel new or old.
@@arcracing7637 can I still use the pull start without using the keyway
How much that kind of engine sir or kind of parts like arc rod and arc flywheel?
can you use a non hemi flywheel on a hemi engine?
I just subscribed more videos would be cool piston rod cam crank and if you could give info on the 301cc can you make performance parts that engine
+Fukin fast Mini bikes New Video up. Check it out
Is it necessary for me to check the coil firing location with the timing light?
SwagSubscriber
Its not necessary but to be sure your timing is 100% accurate it would be wise to.
Hi i did not catch up where the position of the magnet aligned to the coil to fire, also could you help me find what is the timing degree of the Honda gx390,made 2013
Thanks.
Leading edge of the magnet, right hand edge of the coil.
are you guys able to dyno engines?
How do I torque my flywheel down without the crankshaft turning
Install clutch on the oppose side let a buddy grip on that sucker tight with gloves on and run that but down
Same way he said but use a chain to hold it rap it around the teeth and use the excess like a handle it is a lot easier was able to do it by myself
I wanna do a performance kit for predator 212cc. I can do everything except I know I will have trouble doing the fly wheel and coil gap. do I need a machine thing you had to set the degree?

is the grinding part necessary when you have a new engine? also, how advanced should the timing be?
Typically yes theatrically the tapers are the same but they are manufactured by two different companies in two different locates to be on the safe side you should lap them all. The amount of advanced timing required depends on the application which you are using it on.
Do you have a billet aluminum flywheel with the electric start gear for honda gx270 ?
If you remove the governor its highly recommended to do a flywheel and Connecting rod. Flywheel can explode. I have Heard story's of ppl almost dieing cause it hit A main artery, vain in their leg. The rod if so you don't blow a hole in the block if the happens just about the hole engine will be toast
is top dead center when the piston is flush with the area where the head gasket goes?
Yes.
If I am running a key them do I still need to use the the dial indicator and degree wheel to adjust the degree or will the key do that for me? I just have to install the key and that will hold the 34 degrees?
yes it would if u have the keyy
+Jeffrey Martin You can call are tech line and we will be happy to help you. 1-800-521-3560
Ballpark, what kind of HP can you get out of these engines (reasonable money/time investment), for about 100 hrs use?
Between 12-14 HP and about a $200-500 investment. One thing to know is this is a splash lube engine and a 100 hours is a tall order for these engines.
Not bad at all, thanks!
I'm gonna be ordering stainless steel valves from arc, what are the measurements on the intake/exhaust valves for the predator #60363 hemi?
For the hemi you will need the 27mm Intake and 25mm Exhaust. You will probably need to run 26lbs springs along with the appropriate high performance retainer and keeper sets and lash caps. We offer a Stainless Steel Upgrade Hemi Valve Kit. The part number is (DJ-SSVALVE-HKT)
www.arcracing.com/dj-ssvalve-hkt-stainless-steel-upgrade-hemi-valve-kit/
Thank you. The cam I'm looking at calls for 36lb springs, will these be sufficient?
How does the spring tension affect performance?
What lift is it?
couldnt you just line up the yellow line under the coil instead of doing the whole timing process? i feel like im missing something.
Then how will you tell at what position the crank needs to be? This is part of the timing process. Using the mark on the flywheel as the reference, then rotating the crank back to the proper timing mark on the degree wheel.
ARC RACING i thought the key kept it where it needed to be. or does the flywheel still free spin after putting it on the crankshaft even though the key is still installed?
The key holds it still, but you still need to check the timing to be sure the key in the OEM crank is in the right location. These are mass produced Chinese cranks, the key locations can vary from crank to crank.
ARC RACING does that change if i have genuine gx200
You should check timing on any mass produced engine.
Can you take any fly wheel and not run a key in it if you lap and properly torque the nut? So I could have any timing I want?
Yes if proper lapping procedure, and torque spec are followed.
Flywheel i got says it is 32° btd so why would I have to time it when it says thay useing stock key,
@@richardcranium2017 OEM crankshafts are mass produced and not all keyways are in the same location.
@@arcracing7637 so neither are the flywheels ran great until i installed 265 cam possible im 180 off base timing
@@arcracing7637 thanks it was off 90° going to run without key
hi do you have any upgrades available for a predator 301cc 8 hp engine?

What if i get the electric start billet flywheel
Same process
I installed a stage 2 into a non hemi but use the arc lite flywheel instead and my pullstart recoils back really hard/fast, do you know what is wrong?
Did you figure it out? Mine is doing that
I'm getting that too, my guess is it's too high compression or a timing issue.
I have just installed the same flywheel on my 212 hemi clone and every time i go to pull the pullstart it yanks the cord out of my hands. So i put a better cam thinking it would time the engine but no. Do you have any suggestions on what i can do the time it. Should i put a advance fly wheel key, and if so what kind
As far as the kick back, sounds like the valve lash is too loose. Set it as close to zero or no more than .002 with the engine at room temp. This will allow the compression release on the cam to work properly. I have a video called "Valve Train Tip & Tricks" it shows you how to set the valve lash. The cam has nothing to do with flywheel timing. The flywheel is timed with offset timing keys. The flywheel you have is already advanced 8 degrees, so it will be at 32 degrees timing with a stock key. If you need more ignition timing you will need to purchase which ever offset key you need. We sell them in 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 degree advance.
ARC RACING ok thanks you so much!
Question I installed a Billet flywheel 18 pound valve springs and a new race ready carburetor now when I go to pull the pull start it's not wanting to turn but the two or three times I did get it to turn it had a loud backfire or popping type noise. Would you happen to know what I could have did wrong?
Do you still use the stock air box, or an open style air filter with the new carb? What did you torque the flywheel to? Did you lap it?
ARC RACING it's a predator 212 engine with a performance air filter I torqued it to 50 lb and what do you mean by lap it?
In the video it shows you how to lap the flywheel
where can I get that torque wrench?
Any auto parts store.
what about the 6602?
+smallie back You can call are tech line and we will be happy to help you. 1-800-521-3560
Same procedure just not as much torque 55 ft/lbs max.
cant an extention on a torque wrench skew your results
yes it can but only by few foot-pounds
Hey Jodie, what size is the flywheel/starter cup nut?
On a predator 212 hemi?
14 x 1.5mm
14mm? This dude that goes by Redbeard who always says measurements said 19mm.
I hope it's 14, I have that socket already. ( : ) )
It is a Predator hemi, #60363.
also what model is that specific degree wheel?
You can purchase them from Dyno Cams.
ARC RACING they have two models of this wheel. which one did you use
DEGREE WHEEL UNIVERSAL
ARC RACING awesome. thank you for all the replies.
so if i have a 2013 model i have to set it to 24 degrees?
What part number is on the flywheel?
ARC RACING its dated 9/13
Part number should be like a 6619, 6625, 6626, 6608, 6611 something like that. It will be engraved on it with date.
ARC RACING the part number is 6625
24 degrees BTDC
Is 34 degrees only for a specific engine size? I'm looking for the degrees for a 420 Predator when installing an adjustable billet flywheel.
Gasoline .... 30-34 deg Methanol.......32-36 deg
I bet a lot of people ram the flywheel nut home with an impact gun. Especially now with all these electric impacts that amateurs are using. Reason is they do not have a torque wrench and a non destructive way to hold the crank.

What the advantage to making the flywheel billet aluminum as compared to just diecast aluminum?
Safety
cast is porrous and will shatter like glass.
Diecast aluminum is a part made in a casting and cast as a single part. Kinda like how they make lead bullets and engine blocks.
Billet aluminum is basically where aluminum is melted down to become molten and then pressed out of an extruder to become a long continuous strip of material. As it comes out it is cut up into sections of specific size to what was ordered. It cools down and is shipped to a machine shop (ARC) witch basically get a CNC machine and use it to machine the part to the correct size and shape. ARCs CNC machine no doubt paid for itself long ago.
