I had a person in my pottery studio tell me using stamps was cheating. I tried to tell them there is still a lot of work and artistry needed over and above "just stamping". This proves the point. Absolutely beautiful.
There are no rules in pottery, so there’s no such thing as cheating. The problem with stamps is that everyone uses the same ones, which isn’t very original. That’s why I make my own tools, to get a unique result. You can also often tell right away when stamps are used-their application is too obvious and noticeable. What’s great is finding a way to use them more creatively, or in combination with other techniques, so that in the end, people appreciate the beauty of the pottery before thinking about *how* it was made.
@Greg-ceramics my rule is everything can be a pottery tool, personally I don't use actual pottery stamps but I am not afraid to use the back of a paint brush, or any other thing in the universe to create wonderful textures. examples include but aren't limited to dried plants, leaves for impressions, a sleeve of staples for more right angles, rounded rocks for a hammered texture, metal utensils of different shapes and sizes etc. Keep doing you, I enjoy it 👍
Tell them there are cultures who might consider using an electric powered wheel instead of a kick-wheel, or using an electric kiln instead of a gas, or wood-buring one, to be "cheating", so they need to get over themselves since it's all relative.

Where do you get that type of stamp?
Like most of my tools, I make it myself :D
Beautiful, looks like fine China! Where can I get the flower tool?
Thanks.
I build it myself.
Can you show the front of the tool so we can make one similar?
Do you sell the stamp?
No, I didn't think about that. Maybe I should make some more... maybe one day...
Where did you get the stamp?
I made it. I'll make a longer video about this soon.
