"Man of Steel is a 2013 superhero film based on the DC Comics character Superman. Produced by Syncopy, and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, it is the first installment in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) and a reboot of the Superman film series that portrays the character's origin story. The film is directed by Zack Snyder, written by David S. Goyer from a story by him and Christopher Nolan, who also produces, and stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, and Russell Crowe. In the film, Clark Kent learns that he is a superpowered alien from the planet Krypton. He assumes the role of mankind's protector as Superman, making the choice to face General Zod and prevent him from destroying humanity.
Development began in 2008 when Warner Bros. took pitches from comic book writers, screenwriters, and directors, opting to reboot the franchise. In 2009, a court ruling resulted in Jerry Siegel's family recapturing the rights to Superman's origins and Siegel's copyright. The decision stated that Warner Bros. did not owe the families additional royalties from previous films, but if they did not begin production on a Superman film by 2011, then the Shuster and Siegel estates would be able to sue for lost revenue on an unproduced film. Producer Christopher Nolan pitched Goyer's idea after story discussion on The Dark Knight Rises, and Snyder was hired as the film's director in October 2010. Principal photography began in August 2011 in West Chicago, Illinois, before moving to Vancouver and Plano, Illinois.
Man of Steel premiered in the Alice Tully Hall on June 10, 2013, and was released in the United States on June 14, 2013 in 2D, 3D, and IMAX. It received mixed reviews from critics, who praised the film's action sequences, cinematography, visual effects, Snyder's direction and Hans Zimmer's score, as well as Shannon's performance as Zod, although they were divided on Cavill's performance as Superman, while its pacing, lack of character development and serious tonal approach to Superman was criticized. The film grossed over $668 million worldwide, it made a net profit of approximately $42 million, and is the ninth-highest-grossing film of 2013. It is the final DC film co-financed by Legendary Pictures. A follow-up entitled Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was released on March 25, 2016, while a proper sequel is currently in development."

SMH...sad! Just Sad! Suit is garbage and i don't trust Gunn with this new DCU. I see alot of MCU formula coming and its not gonna sit well with fans. Ppl gonna wished they supported Synder more. I understand they want to do something different. But i think they jumped the gunn.. lol

The only critiques I remember were the whole "no trunks" thing and the dark hues. Other than that, it was great, and in comparison, we can now compare and Cavil's was WAY better. He should have gone retro ala Reeves.
Well, as Gunn mentioned, his Superman would be as human as possible. And boy does he convey it, in that image I see him with a serious and lazy expression, as if he were too lazy to save people, Metropolis or even the world.
I really hoped that the reveal of this Superman would be something more different, something that would convey the famous "hope" that Superman is known for and what his Kryptonian symbol on his chest means.
I expected something that was ultimately more striking. But the truth is that this revelation did not convince me at all. It just generated less hype for me than I already had.
So from my perspective, I'm still sticking with Henry as Superman. Even when he is already gone.

I dont mind it honestly. I think let the movie play out, and then we'll see.

Dunno about a jacket with a cap and underwears outside of pants, with a belt holding it up on that suit....
Could have just gone to a homemade suit. The problem with thay is, depending on how intense the fight is... a homemade suit would not make it from battle to battle.
The only legit good film Gunn directed was gotg 1. Gotg 2 was bad and gotg 3 was okay. I'm cautiously optimistic about this. Cavill will be missed..

@@randyatimi4511The first GOTG was great because he didn't write it. He got exposed with the second one. That's the last project I've ever seen from him. I know the guy. I saw Slither in theaters back in 2006 or 2007, don't remember exactly the year but I remember people walking out of the theater before the end and we were already not much in it.. This movie has remained a subject of jokes with my friends to this day...
Some people are trying to make revisionist history with that movie but just look at its BO, you'll understand...

The photo actually symbolizes a lot of what the story will be.
Solaris and Lex Luthor looks like they are going to be the villain, Superman wearing battle-damaged suit and depressed seems like he went from one war and going to another one knowing he might die, the sun is gone and it might weaken Superman based on the suit being loose, and him being sad or depressed looks like it will dwelve on his psychology and philosophy.
I think James Gunn have a different vision of Superman and basing on his interview, it is going to be more serious and will give us hopeful Superman.
Let's just hope for the better that James Gunn will be successful in this project 🥺
The whole point of this reboot was to be happy and jittery hopeful from the Snyder look… and as a first impression advertising image to attract the general audience that don’t know that or read comics.. this was a bad decision

🚨 Let us break this photo down. (Gunn confirmed the picture of the suit is in camera and has not gone through any post):
I believe the pink sphere in the picture is Solaris. Gunn is inspired by All Star Superman: I believe Solaris was one of the villains in All Star Superman. Solaris has injured Superman and have blocked the yellow sun while fighting Superman; this is wear the damage on suit came from. I see a green light striking Solaris in the picture as well. Superman may be injured and weaken from the first fight. Green Lantern and others are distracting Solaris while Superman recovers. Solaris is overcoming the other heroes and weakened, Clark Kent witnesses they need his help. They need Superman.
⭐️ In this picture, a weakened Superman is putting on his boots for round 2, he beaten and injured but he is preparing suit back up to fight Solaris, who is blocking the sun, all odds are against Clark but he is the beacon of hope; he is Superman. Now in this photo Superman is preparing to give his all to save the other heroes and the world.
⭐️ I recently rewatched All Star Superman. Solaris and Lex plays a big part; and, I believe the other in heroes are replacing the fortress of solitude robots to fight Solaris.

I want to add, in the comic or animated movie of “All Star Superman,”Superman needs help from his robots to combat Solaris; Lex get power and is working with Solaris:
1. Well in the image James release you see a green light beam striking top of Solaris.
2. Instead of the robot, this is why you need all the other heroes; they replace his robots and are an integral part of the overall story. (Gunn said this)
3. Lex will probably trick the Engineer in finding the fortress. (Remember, there we report during the time of the Crest reveal, the Engineer was in the snow with Superman. She probably found the fortress of solitude and something to give Lex powers; and Lex some way made a deal with Solaris.
4. Gunn is taking inspiration from the New 52, All Star Superman and Superman All Seasons.
5. 🚨 Gunn should had waited and run the photo through post production before releasing to the public. (I think he released the photo without post because the media may get a bad picture.
Superman is my favourite superhero, and seeing that post made me worried on the film. If he can’t get the costume right how is he meant to get the film right ?
I'm still holding out hope that the story and script is good, but man that costume is ugly as hell.
Hoping this is a Captain America in the first Avengers situation.

david is 30 so yes he is younger and he is american and the hair is like the original superman hair without being the same because the real hair is trademarked from the superman creactor's family the neck is from new 52 and he is putting on his boots because it shows he is more human.

No one wants a Superman, to save cats out of trees, especially now days. Snyder perfectly, re-introduced Superman to the world, and have him a meaningful backstory, learning and growing as he encountered different aspects, to the places he visited.

Hell You guys have not even seen anything from Superman and you are already complaining like the bad DC fans you are. If you didn't want this superman. I did show support for the DCEU, until the films became repetitive and rubbish. As a fan I have the right to criticise and voice my opinion. I also have not entirely dismissed the film completely, I'm just not a fan of the first look Gunn decided to release
DEI is going to overtake this whole franchise. Mark my words. Just like Disney, Star Wars, MCU. Of course that's what they're up to with this whole reboot.
If this is the final suit.. I think you're on the right track. David Cornswet bulked up so much, so they could put him in a sweater? Seems as if they are trying to take away from Superman's masculinity... Not too many people are saying this but there most definitely is an agenda to make all the prominent male superheroes step down and be replaced by females(even though no one will go to those movies). While they try to carry out this agenda, they also try to mock and downplay and emasculate all the male frontrunners(smarthulk is a good example, I like smart hulk but they should have brought back the real one for the final battle, or at least had him fight as smart hulk) or Thor love and thunder, they turned the most masculine Avenger into a braid wearing Mr.Mom.
